WELL BUILT BY CARLY PHILLIPS AND ERIKA WILDE-BLOG TOUR

Well Built by Carly Phillips and Erika Wilde

Date of Publication: July 25, 2017

Blurb

When it comes to women, sexy, well-built Kyle Coleman has always been a lover, not a fighter. His one exception? The sassy, tempting, smart-mouthed Ella Fisher. Her family and his are sworn enemies, which make the two of them off-limits—despite the fact that she's inspired some of his dirtiest, most erotic fantasies for years. But when the lines between animosity and lust become irrevocably blurred one fateful evening, their one night stand leads to a very unexpected consequence—that changes everything between them forever.

I really enjoy the books these authors create when they team up! They always weave a great tale and Well Built is another hit to add to their list. This second chance romance was well written and had me shaking my head and sighing at the same time.

I understood Ella. I didn't always like her, but I did understand her. She has a hard time asserting herself with her family-and that made me want to shake her at times. Not hard...just a little LOL. I do think she grew throughout the book so I DID like her, I just didn't love her as much as some other heroines I've read from these authors.

I adored Kyle, simply adored him. He knew what he wanted and he was going to get it, no matter the cost. He was stuck between a rock and a hard place and I really felt for him and the decisions he made. I appreciated how he handled himself in this situation, and my heart went out to him. I have to admit that I loved his dirty mouth, too.

These characters definitely weren't lacking in the chemistry department. When they were together you FELT it. I loved that they had both tried to move on but still holding that piece of themselves back. Reuniting, even under less than ideal circumstances, forced them to face the fact that nobody else ever measured up for either of them. Their relationship isn't an easy one, it's not all sunshine and roses when they reunite, and I really, really liked that.

I love how these authors work as a team. It doesn't feel like two people wrote this book it all just flows as if it came from one mind-and I admire that. These two have a knack for writing books that I can just dive into and fall in love.

This book is part of a series from these authors but can absolutely be read as a standalone with no issue. The writing here is great, I was immediately engaged with the story. The pacing worked and I overall truly enjoyed our couple. I would recommend this title.

I enjoyed the latest by the duo of Carly Phillips and Erika Wilde. As always, it was filled with characters that I liked, and a storyline that I enjoyed.

However, for some reason, the character of Ella was never one that I was fully able to relate to. And, I am not even all that sure as to why. I liked her, and I was drawn to their story, but there was something about her that made me feel like I was kept a little distant from her for the story. Not enough for me to think that it was a bad story, or for me not to be invested, but enough that I was never quite as connected to her as I was to Kyle.

Kyle, I understood him. The drive to move away from a small town, to make something of yourself in an area where you aren't constantly encountering people you went to high school with is something that connects many, myself included, who grew up in a town where it is impossible to go to the grocery store without running into someone you know, or who knows a member of your family. Coming back as someone who is successful, and changing something permanently, would be odd. And, he does exactly this, but he handles it well.

Relationships are about compromise. He was not going to leave his life, and company, behind in Chicago and Ella wasn't comfortable there. I loved, however, that this was a reality for them, and for the authors, and one that they made work. Is the resolution convenient for either Ella or Kyle? Nope, there is some give and take there and I loved it. I love it when the author makes the characters bend a little to stay together, it gives the story credibility and makes you believe that the happily ever after is actually going to work out for them.

As always, the writing and the pacing of the story were perfect, there was enough forward momentum of the characters to move you through the story and their actions were believable. Overall, I do recommend this title.
