Corinne Michaels did it again. My heart was in my throat for half of this book. There were tears, and the angst in this one...you feel it. It comes off the page and it doesn't let you go. I wanted to skim ahead (I didn't) as there were parts where my heart was so broken for them that I just wanted to know if it was ok and going to work out.
You feel for Declan and for Sydney. His reasons for leaving, for resisting how he feels about her, are valid...at least to him. And they are all the more heartbreaking for it, as you know how they feel about one another. Declan tells Sydney that he loves her, and if he was going to have a life with anyone, it would be her.
Knowing this, knowing that they love one another makes this one all the more heartbreaking (and all the more rewarding when they finally get their happily ever after).
A lot of this book would be spoiled if I get into detail, so I am going to be vague about a part of it that really worked for me. There is a plot line that instead of being the reason they are together, because the reason that being with Sydney, and letting go of the past, becomes everything that Declan wants, and it was beautiful to be a part of.
I absolutely loved this title and I recommend it.
