Being butler to a widower and single father is a dream job in more ways than one for Charlotte “Charlie” Emerson. He and Charlie act in harmony with each other and it’s not hard to picture them as a little family…in fact, it’s so easy, one reckless night he proposes a marriage of convenience. What will he do if Charlie says yes? And worse, what if she tells him no?

Ethan and Charlie are employer and butler, so this is essentially a workplace romance with the boss...and, I was looking forward to it.

Unfortunately, I had a tough time with this one. I thought the secret was both obvious, and unbelievable that the circumstances would actually align in such a way as to make this realistic.

Other than this, I liked the book overall. I liked their chemistry, and I believed in the relationship. But, at the end, when the secret is revealed, I felt like I was reading about entirely different characters than I was in the beginning of the book, possibly because I think the end was a little rushed. There was a lot of build up to the resolution, but the resolution was handled so quickly, the emotional impact was a little lacking.

I did enjoy it, but I wanted a little more from the story, and from the eventual resolution of Charlie's secret.
