ICED BY VERONICA FORAND AND SUSAN SCOTT SHELLEY-REVEW

FLIRTING ON ICE

When a sexy, forbidden spark blazes to life between professional hockey player Zac Elliott and the team owner's daughter, he's willing to risk being benched to have her. Their relationship is deeply passionate and intensely private...until the press catches them in the act. The only way out of the penalty box is for Zac to play hockey like life--and love--depends on it...

SIMMERING ICE

Physical therapist Annie Davidson is great at her job but unlucky when it comes to love. All she can do is focus on work...that is until she runs into professional hockey player Alec O'Meara. Alec likes to keep things loose on and off the ice, but the red-headed Annie challenges his beliefs and makes him think about taking their relationship to the net...

Flirting on Ice and Simmering Ice are 2 novellas that are combined together in this book.

Flirting on Ice is the story of Zac and Heather.

While I enjoyed this one, I felt a little like I was dropped into the middle of the story, with the attraction already between them. It was definitely insta-love and while that is ok, I like to be there from the beginning of the instalove story, so I was not as able to connect with this one.

3 Stars

Simmering Ice is the story of Annie and Alec.

I thought Simmering Ice was the stronger of the 2 stories, and it also built on the story in Flirting on Ice. I think, in this case, the fact that they evolved together left this the stronger story. I also tend to really like the stories where the woman is accomplished in her own right, especially when they center on the male sports hero and how accomplished he is.

Of the 2 stores, I thought this was stronger. In part I think as there is more backstory, not only from the first book but also because this one is longer and a little more character development is allowed to happen.

4 Stars

I recommend both books and definitely recommend them as a box set.

SINFUL LOVE BY LAUREN BLAKELY-REVIEW

Intense. Devoted. Protective.

Michael Sloan is all of the above, with a hard tough edge to boot. He's not the guy he used to be. Years ago, before all the s&%t went down, he was laidback, carefree, and even happy-go-lucky.

Life changed him. Hardened him.

There's one woman though who can break down his walls. Someone who knew him then. Who can reach inside to that heart he protects fiercely...because she's the only one he ever gave it to. When they collide, it's tender and savage, gentle and rough, and makes them both hungry for more of this electric, once-in-a-blue moon kind of sexual chemistry. But it's a battle of wills between Michael and the woman he loves, with words and emotions held close to the vest.

She doesn't believe she can ever move on from her own heartbreak, but when Michael makes her feel for the first time in years, it's both thrilling and scares the hell out of her, setting off all her flight instincts. He's determined not to lose her again, but he'll have to learn to let her in if he ever wants to fully heal from the past...

The problem is, she knows something about the night his family shattered. She has the missing puzzle piece...but neither one of them realizes it.

YET.

SINFUL LOVE is the fourth and final book in the steamy, sexy, suspenseful New York Times Bestselling Sinful Nights series from Lauren Blakely, author of the wildly popular Seductive Nights series...

I loved it. This was a second (third?) chance romance at its best. If you can read this without falling a little in love with Annalise and Michael, you weren't paying attention.

The background info on Michael and Annalise quickly lets you see that they are approaching their reunion with similar fond memories and feelings of when they were together, but from a different perspective. Annalise, you discover quickly, was married and her husband passed away. Michael has always been in love with Annalise.

Michael is intense, passionate and so afraid of losing Annalise again that he is reluctant to tell her how he feels. But, after an amazingly sweet discovery on her part, he confesses all to her right before she gets into a cab to head back to Paris...although at that point, they have already decided to allow what they have to continue, an option that was not realistic when they meet as 16-year olds.

While we wait for Annalise to admit she loves him, and is more than "falling" for him, Lauren Blakely gives little clues as to how Annalise feels, like watching him sit, holding his wine, and talking to her family...you see how she feels before she tells him.

The entire book is just good. You just feel for both of them, your heart aches for them, and you don't want it to end.

DIRTY DIX BY MONICA JAMES-REVIEW

I knew she was bad news when she walked into my office, but I just couldn’t help myself…

Filthy, sexy and full of surprises, Juliet is so hot she has me on fire. I’ve met my match and I can’t help going back for more.

Then there’s Madison… she’s sweet, funny and awakens in me a fierce need to protect her.

But I don’t do relationships. I don’t usually do the same woman twice.

Juliet and Madison: Two very different women have got me completely hooked.

Who will I choose?

I know who I should choose, but I never said I was the hero of this story, or even the good guy. And besides, who wants to be good, when it feels so good being bad?

My tale isn’t for the faint-hearted. If you’re game, strap yourself in and expect the unexpected. But don’t say I didn’t warn you…

Achingly sexy and highly addictive, Dirty Dix, the first in the Hard Love Romance series, will have you hooked. Wicked Dix coming soon…

So, wow.

I am at a bit of a loss as to what to say. Not because I have nothing to say, but because I have too much and all of it is probably full of spoilers. And, I would hate to ruin this book for the next person.

Dixon is so compelling, so complex and interesting. He is multi-faceted, who he is with his friends, as a doctor, and as a man all blend together as one, but are also distinct and the writing is so good that he can be all 3 in one without it seeming off.

Madison is also complex and she draws you in with an interesting mix of complete innocence and yet an intensity that rivals his.

Neither surprise, the revelation of what happened to her in her past or the secret on which the first book ends (what a cliffhanger that was) are big surprises. Possibly it is a bigger surprise that Dixon never put it together himself, although I am not sure he ever gave it much thought.

The book is hot, the scene in his car after they have been caught in the rain was intense, you feel what they feel for one another and you understand what pulls them together.

This book has a lot of what some call "triggers" as Madison and Dixon each spend time with other people in the book, but to me that is what made it stronger. His internal dialog when he realizes that he picked wrong, that if when he had a chance he had picked the relationship than the easier sex just pulled at my heart.

At times, I wanted to smack Dixon over the head with my Kindle, at other times, I wanted to hug him and tell him it would be ok. Same for Madison...she knows what she has in front of her, and finally allowing herself to face that fear, to chance being with Dixon was amazing.

If this was Dixon being dirty, I can't wait for him to be wicked. Oh my, is that going to be fun.

THE SEX BUCKET LIST BY PRESCOTT LANE-BLOG TOUR

SBPR-TheSexBucketList-BT

The Sex Bucket List by Prescott Lane Release Date: March 9th Genre: Contemporary Romance

SexBucketListCover

I’m Emerson, and my “to do” list is longer than I’d like. You might wonder what kind of woman comes up with a sex bucket list? Answer — the kind who’s been in a sex drought, has two crazy girlfriends encouraging her, and one too many bottles of wine.

This kind of list requires special skill. And I have just the man in mind to help me. He’s younger. So that checks one thing off my list. And he’s the kind of man every woman should sleep with at least once in her life. The kind of man who knows his way around a woman’s body. And God, I’d like him to know mine.

Armed with new lingerie and a fancy high-tech vibrator, I’m taking charge. Of love, of life, and my libido. How hard can that be? Well, judging by the rate of pole dancing injuries, I might be in trouble.

But how much trouble can one woman get in? Giving your panties to a stranger isn’t illegal in Georgia, is it?

Grab a pen and make your own Sex Bucket List!

Our kiss is hard and rough, and it has my legs clenching together. His hands go to my ass, pulling my dress up slightly, lifting me up onto the edge of my desk, grinding against me. Wearing a wrap dress today was a good call. I usually wear wrap dresses because they are no fuss, add a nice cinch to my waist, and feel like pajamas. Easy access wasn’t one of the reasons, but I’m thankful for it now. Wrestling with his shirt, I yank it out of his pants, desperate to feel his skin under my fingertips. His tongue finds my neck, and he kisses a path along my collarbone. I thrust against every hard inch of him. He pulls on the tie of my dress, and I wrap my legs around his waist. Picking me up, he pushes me up against the floor-to-ceiling window. I can’t remember the last time a guy banged me up against a wall, or a window, for that matter. This is a perk of being with a younger man. Am I really going to do this? In my office? In the middle of the day? He must feel my hesitation because he lowers my legs to the ground, flipping me towards the window, his hard dick pushing up against my ass, his warm breath tickling my neck. He whispers in my ear, “Number 19. Orgasm in a public place. I’m saying this counts.” I look down the few stories to the busy Atlanta street, the neighboring building. Roughly, he forces my legs apart with his foot then reaches his hand between my legs and pushes my panties to the side. “Your list belongs to me,” he says, his voice hard.

THE PLAY MATE BY KENDALL RYAN-REVIEW BLITZ

Smith Hamilton has it all—he's smart, good-looking and loaded. But he remembers a time when he had nothing and no one, so he's not about to mess up, especially with his best friend’s little sister. That means keeping Evie at arm's length … even though the once pesky little girl is now a buxom bombshell. A sexy blonde who pushes his self-control to the limit the night she crawls into bed with him. Evie Reed knows she's blessed—with an exclusive education, a family who loves her, and a new job managing social media for her family's lingerie company. But she wants more, like a reason to wear the sexy lingerie herself. She has just the man in mind to help with that. She's crushed on Smith forever. Surely tricking her way into his bed will force him to see her in a new, adult way. Except that when Evie's plan leads to disaster, she and Smith must decide—ignore the attraction sizzling between them, or become play mates and risk it all.

This is my second book by Kendall Ryan and I am definitely willing to say I am a new fan of this author. I like her writing style and I really like her characters.

Ryan writes chemistry very, very well. There were some scenes in this that, oh my, were a lot of fun. And, this really was a slow burn. There was an encounter at the beginning, and that encounter sustains the book until close to the 3rd act of the book. And, this is a talent...and is not easy to sustain the interest and the chemistry as they work through their relationship.

More important than the chemistry, I liked Smith and Evie. A lot. I believed in them as people, and I thought their reactions and actions were realistic. I liked that Evie was young, but not necessarily naive. She made some mistakes, but they were the kinds of things you make on your first day at any new job. But she was also allowed to be competent, her own person, and to be good at her job. I appreciated that Smith was not the guy who came in to rescue the younger woman, but the man who wanted to date the woman he was attracted to.

The older brother/younger sister is fairly common, and the idea that the main tension is going to be through the brother and his reaction is also done, a lot. But, in this one, while that was definitely there, it also felt fresh. I liked the way Smith handled things with Cullen, I liked how up front he was. I found it refreshing.

I am looking forward to the next in the series and I definitely recommend this book.

MADLY BY RUTHIE KNOX-ARC REVIEW

An impulsive trip to New York City, a heartthrob from London, and a scandalous to-do list turn a small-town girl’s life upside down in this sultry romance from the New York Times bestselling author of Truly and About Last Night.

Allie Fredericks isn’t supposed to be in Manhattan, hiding in the darkest corner of a hip bar, spying on her own mother—who’s flirting with a man who’s definitely not Allie’s father. Allie’s supposed to be in Wisconsin, planning her parents’ milestone anniversary party. Then Winston Chamberlain walks through the door, with his tailored suit, British accent, and gorgeous eyes, and Allie’s strange mission goes truly sideways.

Winston doesn’t do messy. But after a pretty stranger ropes him into her ridiculous family drama with a fake kiss that gets a little too real, he finds out that messy can be fun. Maybe even a little addicting. And as the night grows longer, Allie and Winston make a list of other wild things they could do together—and what seems like a mismatch leads to a genuine connection. But can their relationship survive as their real lives implode just outside the bedroom door?

This book was a cute idea that really didn't work very well for me.

Allie and Winston were an awkward couple, and I was never really convinced that there was a connection between them.  The initial meeting in the bar could have really set the scene for a lot of great chemistry, but it fizzled for me...and it never really picked up with anything that made me believe that the 2 of them were attracted to one another, much less going to be able to make any sort of successful relationship work.

The pacing of the book was off for me as well, as I thought the book moved too slowly in some areas and too quickly in others, so I was never really able to feel engaged in the story or with the characters.

This was my first book by this author, so I am not able to say if she is one I like or not as not every book is for everyone.  I will give this author another chance, even though I am not able to recommend the book.
