RULE MASTER BY SIENNA SNOW-ARC REVIEW

His rules. Her pleasure. His way.

Italian heiress and international financier Milla Castra knows she can't avoid him forever. Irredeemably hot and controlled Lex Duncan once shared her craving for things deliciously forbidden. He was her lover. Her Master. And the husband she's kept secret from everyone.

But Lex will never relinquish what's his---and Milla is definitely his. And he knows she can't resist the exquisite pleasure that awaits in his arms. When the violence of her past threatens them both, Lex will risk everything to keep Milla safe . . . before she submits to the cruelest master imaginable, Fear.

Rules of Engagement series

Book 1 - Rule Breaker (Arya and Max)
Book 2 - Rule Master (Milla and Lex)
Book 3 - Rule Changer (Carmen and Thomas)

I enjoyed this book. I like that it started with them as married, and for a while. I think this was probably revealed in the first book, as it seemed to be a badly kept secret, although I was new to their relationship as I did not read the first one.

At times, I think I was missing a little because I picked this one up without reading the beginning of the story...but not enough that I can say it isn't a standalone.

The idea of the reason Milla wants to end her marriage to Lex was interesting. A giant spoiler to get in to here, but interesting. And, understandable, I think, for someone who has been through her experience, and come out on the other side, to question who she is, if she will ever be the same, and to try to come to terms with how she deals with the things that happened.

I loved Lex. He was so compelling, so good at showing up exactly where we needed him to be for Milla and for the story, so good at being exactly what Milla needed, so good with knowing his own limits and what will work for him.

This is my first title by this author, and it is not going to be my last. The pacing was on point, the characters were strong and the dialog was real. The book had it's moments where it was intense and those were handled well.

I recommend this book as a standalone, but do think it would be worth it to read the first one before reading this one.

LAST KISS BY LAURELIN PAIGE-REVIEW

When Emily Wayborn goes home to visit her mom while on hiatus from her hit TV show, she receives a voicemail from her former best friend, Amber. Though the two were once notorious party girls, they haven't spoken in years. Although the message might sound benign to anyone else, Amber uses a safe word that Emily recognizes, a word they always used to get out of sticky situations during their wild days. And what's more chilling than the voicemail: it turns out that Amber has gone missing.

Now Emily is on the hunt to find out what happened to Amber, a hunt that leads her to sexy enigmatic billionaire Reeve Sallis, a hotelier known for his shady dealings and play boy reputation. Reeve might have had something to do with Amber's disappearance, but Emily can't help the way she reacts to him.
Time is running out and Emily must figure out who she can trust and if she can trust her feelings.

Holy !@#$%^&*

Wow.

OMG

I have no idea where to start with this. Absolutely no idea. If you have read First Touch, you know how good that was and you know how you were SCREAMING at the book, Kindle, whatever when First Touch ended with THAT CLIFFHANGER. And you know how good you wanted Last Kiss to be.

Well, it was better than you ever thought possible. No, really. It is that good.

The writing, the characters, the story. Perfection. I wanted to get to the end, just to know how it would end...but at the same time, I didn't, I didn't want it to ever end. But when it did, I loved where it ended up.

Was it dark? Well, yes. But you know that from the first book, this is not puppies and unicorns. And it is not supposed to be, and I wouldn't believe it if it was. But what I did believe in was the characters, their story and their actions.

I could say so much more, and I want to...but at the same time, I don't want to ruin this for a single person...and, there is a lot to ruin.

I will leave you with this...knowing what I know now, at the end of Last Kiss, it is time for a re-read of First Touch...and a re-read of this one too. Because...

Holy !@#$%^&*

Wow.

OMG

And, in case you were wondering about the feather on the cover? It's all explained. And, it's epic.

About HARD JUSTICE:

Playing it safe has never felt so dangerous…

Justice Wallington knows how to harness his strength and intimidating size—skills he put to good use first in the MMA cage, and now as a bodyguard at the Body Armor agency. But no opponent has ever left him feeling as off balance as his new client, heiress Fallon Wade. Far from a spoiled princess, she’s sweet and intriguingly innocent. It’s a risk-free assignment, until he’s required to fake a relationship with her in order to blend in.

Sheltered from the world after a family tragedy, Fallon longs to experience life—going to bars, dancing, talking to strangers. Not easy with a huge, lethal-looking bodyguard shadowing her every move. Justice seems like her polar opposite, but pretending to be a couple stirs undeniable heat. And when danger strikes again, it’s not just her safety in jeopardy, but a passion that’s real, raw and absolutely against the rules…

Hard Justice is the second book in Lori Foster's Body Armor series and after meeting Justice in the first book I was definitely interested to read more about him.  Lori Foster always manages to focus on the main couple in a story while giving you tasty tidbits about secondary characters that keep you coming back to learn more about them.

Justice wasn't quite what I was expecting-he was much more fun.  He attempts to resist being attracted to Fallon but there's definitely chemistry between them from the very first page.  Justice was different than the first hero in this series, which I think it important.  Yes, he's ex-MMA and a bodyguard but his personality is different.  He was a bit more of your average guy-in my opinion-with a big heart.  I liked that he stayed true to himself while dealing with Fallon's somewhat snobby family, that he wasn't trying to impress them by being something he wasn't.

Fallon is a more sheltered heroine than I'm used to reading-and because of that I had a bit of a hard time connecting with her initially.  I didn't understand exactly why her parents wanted her to be guarded, but if I HAD to be guarded I wouldn't mind having Justice as my bodyguard.  Fallon did grow and flourish, coming out of her shell a bit and so I did like her even if it took me a bit to connect with her.

There was chemistry between these two from the start.  From the moment the two speak to one another alone for the first time you feel it.  It didn't feel forced in any way and I enjoyed watching them come together.

I enjoyed getting to peek back at old characters from the first book, but if you haven't read it you can still enjoy this book.  I'm looking forward to the next book in this series.

I liked this book overall. The writing was strong and the chemistry with the main characters was also strong. Although, I was never really able to be clear as to the reason Fallon needed the bodyguard her parents hired for her, other than them being overprotective. This made it tough for me to engage with the story at the beginning, although there was a shift in focus from her needing the bodyguard to just needing someone there for her as she spreads her wings.

Unfortunately, this and some of the characterization of her left me feeling that Fallon was a little young for Justice. And, while she did grow up, I was left feeling as if I am not totally convinced that this is a relationship that is going to last. They had chemistry, and there was a spark between them, and they do love one another, so I am hopeful. I also liked the nod to this at the ending.

The pacing was strong as were the supporting characters, so this was a book that was worth reading. I am looking forward to the next in the series, both to read the story and also to see how the author handles the evolution of the story told in this one.

I do recommend this book.

book blurb

Once upon a time, I thought love was a fairytale.

I thought selling myself to a mafia boss was noble. So what if they called him the Beast? I grew up in rags, and he would lift me to riches. All I had to do was give him my soul.

He was punishing. Insatiable. Captivating. Nothing like I expected him to be. Each day my reality blurred, leaving me wondering if I was slave or princess.

The longer I stayed, the more I lost myself to him. Even after every cruelty the Beast visited upon me, I longed for his touch. Even after every savage word he spoke, I begged for his lips. I thought the worst thing he could take was my body. I was too naïve to guard my heart.

Once upon a time, I thought love was a fairytale.

Now I know better than to speak of happily-ever-afters.

Beast is the first book in the Hate Story duet. About what it means to fall in love with the person who has absolutely destroyed you, it contains disturbing and graphic situations that may be a trigger for some.

HANDS OFF BY KAYTI MCGEE-BLOG TOUR

Charity has a bit of a nervous tic... she steals things. It's not normally a problem, because she doesn't tend to get very nervous around her stable of book boyfriends. But when she accidentally goes on a blind date with a cop, albeit the hottest cop alive, she can't seem to stop herself from grabbing everything in sight.

Leo wants a family, not a criminal record. But there's something about the curvy bombshell of a thief he's been set up with that he can't stop thinking about. Or falling into bed with.

He needs to keep his hands off of her. She needs to keep her hands off of... literally everything.

There's no hope for a cop and a klepto.

Or is there?

Kayti McGee makes me laugh. Really, I could just end there and have a review that works for this book...because it made me laugh. And, I loved Leo and Charity...and her quirks.

And the post it notes...this is an obsession I share (albeit not to the extremes she does) with Charity. So, this made me laugh.

The kleptomania was a hoot...the salt shaker just about killed me with laughter.

Do you sense the theme here? Yup, this book was funny. Really, really, funny. And, it was well written...which is a requirement if you are going to make something funny.

Kayti McGee is a great writer, with a great sense of humor and the ability to write a funny character, with a funny story-line, while retaining the story. Ms. McGee herself will tell you that she does things "over the top" but, what she leaves out is that she can get away with it because she is a great writer who tells a wonderful story.

The only criticism I have, and it is a small one, is I thought the resolution of this one came a little quickly...but other than that, all good.

Have I mentioned the post it notes?

Kayti McGee is an author I discovered late last year and fell in love with.  When I read a Kayti McGee book I know I'm going to laugh and find some characters I can really relate to-Hands Off was no different.

Charity had me laughing from the start.  I have a love for post-it notes (not to Charity's level mind you) so her reliance on them made me giggle.  I liked that she was confident in herself, she knew her strengths and weaknesses and wasn't going to change for anyone...except maybe Leo's mom.

Speaking of Leo, who wouldn't love a hot cop?  I'll admit I had my reservations about him when he first met Charity but they were gone after a couple of pages.  To me it was interesting to find a male lead so set on finding a woman-it's usually the other way around.  But I love that Kayti McGee takes things you expect and flips them all around.

I love the supporting characters in this book- a lot.  They definitely add to the humor in this book without taking away from Charity and Leo. I could see myself hanging out with them on game night-it'd be a blast.

If you're looking for a book that'll have you laughing while still being hot, check out Hands Off-you won't regret it.
