I liked both Barclay and Tessa, I thought their initial meeting was amusing, and I mostly believed their chemistry.

I enjoy forbidden romance, and in this case, he's the boss and she is a subordinate, which is one of my favorite tropes.  It's fun watching the characters try to deny the attraction, to pretend it doesn't exist, and try not to act on that attraction.

In this one, though, he is the CEO and while I get it that he's interested in a subordinate, I was not sure I believed it was the major problem that it was made out to be...especially when I 3rd party steps in and solves the whole issue with what seemed to be one phone call.  So, that took some of the fun out of the story for me, as I was less able to fully believe it.

I did however still enjoy this title and I recommend it.

“Where are we going?” She turns a curious eye toward me, tilting her head to the side. I glance over my shoulder as I guide her a few steps away and around a corner. “Trust me?” She nods, and I point to the closed door in front of us. “The cloakroom?” she asks with a teasing smile. “Shush,” I whisper, twisting the handle to see if it’s locked. It moves in my hand. I’m in luck. I open the door wide enough for us both to slide inside, then leave it cracked a few inches so a sliver of light streams in. Aside from a few empty hangers on a rod, the room is bare. “What are we doing in here?” Tessa asks, but her eager eyes give her away. She wants me as much as I want her. “I need something from you before we join the others.” I lean forward and speak into her ear. “What’s that?” she breathes. “This.” I place my hands on her back. She shivers at my touch, following with a sweet sigh. My fingers trail over her velvety skin, lingering at the simple hook connecting her lone strap. If only we had more time. “Your skin’s so smooth and silky.” I bend down and kiss her lips, and she returns it with a passion matching mine. Tessa links her fingers behind my neck, and we are lost in each other. Minutes later, when we both need to draw in a breath, I move my lips down her neck and over the exposed curves of her breasts. “I want to taste all of you,” I say against her skin, and feel her pulse racing like mine. Dropping to my knee, I bring my hands to the back of her toned legs, and trace the delicate skin behind her knees. Her muscles flex and release in anticipation. With a feather like touch, I inch up her thighs, finding the lacy edge of her panties. “Has anyone touched you here?” “No one,” she blows out between labored breaths. I am not sure why, but in this one I struggled a bit liking Chase. This is odd for me, as I generally love Jessica Lemmon's characters, even the complete asshole men that she occasionally writes (looking at you here, Eli) and the redemption story as they fall in love with the perfect woman. Chase wasn't even really a jerk...yes, a little controlling with a bit of a habit of telling others what to do (for their own good, of course) and a little bit of the type to make decisions for others, but all in all, not a bad guy. And, he did grow on me by the end.

So, I am still not sure what it was about him that I didn't totally connect with. Although, I can say I really liked him by the end and completely understood why Miriam decided that a life with him was absolutely worth dealing with the fact that he is the major of Dallas.

I know Ms. Lemmon has said that she loves a forced proximity story, and it shows as it is well crafted and the reason that they are stuck together ( a combination of weather and stubbornness) works well and allowed me to believe that these 2 people would be in the situation, that they were going to be forced to put up with one another, and it was going to turn steamy.

I also liked the ending, the little bit of the life he leads sneaking into their idyllic world. For me, that is the challenge in a book like this, I want to know when they are freed from the cabin, the snowplows show up, that the relationship is going to be strong enough to continue to work when they are no longer forced to be in the same place. And, adding in the outside world allowed me to believe this is more than a weekend fling.

I enjoyed and recommend this title.

But, Larissa is reluctant, and figures there is no way that a player (in more than one way( like Easton is going to be interested in her, and in being a part of her life, with the baggage that she brings to the relationship.

I loved that it's Larissa who is reluctant in this, and Easton is pretty much all in from the very first time they meet. Usually, it is the other way, with the woman willing to risk her heart and the man who is reluctant, so I enjoyed this and the fact that it felt a little different.

I enjoyed the writing style of this and the characters. I liked that you could relate to both of them and that I was able to believe in the relationship. The pacing was pretty good, although I did think the time it took from Larissa to fight the relationship with Easton to being willing to be all in with him was a little quick. But it worked overall.



I love a good sports romance. I may not be the biggest fan of any sporting teams in life, but I definitely enjoy them in books. Add in a single parent to the mix and you hit another pocket of kryptonite for me. This book was a quick read for me and it left me with a smile on my face.

I liked Larissa. She has some baggage with her that holds her back initially, and I respected that about her. She wasn't willing to go all in immediately, even though there's no denying she's attracted to Easton. I liked seeing her growth as a character throughout the book.

Easton was a pretty good book boyfriend. I like that he was ready to show he was serious right from the start, that he wasn't this typical player Larissa would have to worry about reforming. I like that he wasn't willing to give up on the idea of being with Larissa and I enjoyed his pursuit of her.

I liked how these characters came together. It wasn't easy initially on Larissa's part, but once she was in? She was all in. It made me appreciate their relationship-that it wasn't all easy. It worked well for these characters.

I mentioned this is a single parent romance as well. For me, the child character has to be done well; they can't be an afterthought. The child in this case definitely wasn't an afterthought and had me smiling.

I enjoyed this book. It was a quick read for me and one I would recommend.

ONE WEDDING, TWO BRIDES BY HEIDI BETTS - ARC REVIEW

It had sounded like a great plan at the time. Get married, get revenge, and get her money back. So why is she cleaning out stables and trying to keep her hands off the hot cowboy helping her?

What was supposed to be a temporary marriage for revenge is starting to feel a little too real...

I loved the meet-cute in this.  Or rather the meet-jilted-and-tipsy.

Monica was supposed to marry the same man that Ryder's sister just married.  So, in her mind (drunk where bad ideas make sense) crashing the wedding, and showing him what he lost, and also showing the bride the loser she married, seems like a good idea.

Ryder to the rescue, of both Monica and the bride and groom (although, that turns out as you want it to once you hear Monica's story) and off she goes to his ranch.  His troubled ranch, the one he is in danger of losing and is struggling to make ends meet. 

A revenge marriage plot is formed, the money Monica has is promised to Ryder, and sparks start flying...the money isn't where it is supposed to be, the marriage is becoming more and more real, and the relationship neither of them were looking for is looking like exactly what they want.

It's not easy to get them to the Happily Ever After, but it was fin and enjoyable.  I am not sure I totally believed the premise, but hey, why not?

I laughed, I enjoyed this title, and I recommend it.
