SUSTAINED BY EMMA CHASE-SPOTLIGHT

A knight in tarnished armor is still a knight.

When you’re a defense attorney in Washington, DC, you see firsthand how hard life can be, and that sometimes the only way to survive is to be harder. I, Jake Becker, have a reputation for being cold, callous, and intimidating—and that suits me just fine. In fact, it’s necessary when I’m breaking down a witness on the stand.

Complications don’t work for me—I’m a “need-to-know” type of man. If you’re my client, tell me the basic facts. If you’re my date, stick to what will turn you on. I’m not a therapist or Prince Charming—and I don’t pretend to be.

Then Chelsea McQuaid and her six orphaned nieces and nephews came along and complicated the ever-loving hell out of my life. Now I’m going to Mommy and Me classes, One Direction concerts, the emergency room, and arguing cases in the principal’s office.

Chelsea’s too sweet, too innocent, and too gorgeous for her own good. She tries to be tough, but she’s not. She needs someone to help her, defend her…and the kids.

And that—that, I know how to do.

It's no secret I love Emma Chase. She has a knack for making me laugh and making me swoon with her books. There's something just a touch more special about Sustained that has had me coming back to this book time and time again-and falling in love with it each and every time.

Sustained has a little something for everyone in it. It's laugh out loud funny in spots, sweet in other spots. It has moments that break my heart every single time I read them. There's also passion, sexy times and love. It's the love that gets me every time. It's not just the romantic love between Jake and Chelsea, though lord knows that's enough on its own, but it's the love of family that has me sighing endlessly. There's something about seeing a man with kids/babies that just makes me melt.

Focusing on Jake for just a moment...he's one of my all time favorite book boyfriends. The growth he goes through in this book is tremendous. Is he perfect? No. But he's perfect for Chelsea. Together they represent a true relationship to me. Both are human and have flaws but they are truly the perfect match for one another.

The writing here is superb. You truly get the sense that you are living in the moment with these characters, experiencing what they're experiencing. Good, bad or ugly. The pacing is great, too. There's no mad rush at the end to give these characters the ending they truly deserve.

I enjoy the peeks into the secondary characters lives. This is a standlone, but there are characters from other books mentioned. They don't take away from the story at all, they simply enhance it.

This book truly has something for everyone in it. It's one I find myself coming back to time and time again and I can't recommend it highly enough. I wish I could give it more than 5 stars-it deserves them all.

THE HOUSE MATE BY KENDALL RYAN-SPOTLIGHT

What’s sexier than a bad boy? A bad ass man who’s got his shit together.

Max Alexander is nearing thirty-five. He’s built a successful company, and he’s conquered the professional world, but he’s never been lucky in love. Focusing so much time on his business and raising his daughter, adulting has come at the expense of his personal life.

His social skills are shit, his patience is shot, and at times, his temper runs hot.

The last thing he has time for is the recently single, too gorgeous for her own good young woman he hires to take care of his little girl. She’s a distraction he doesn’t need, and besides, there’s no way she’d be interested. But you know what they say about assumptions?

This is book 3 in the Roommates series, but each can be read as a complete standalone, as they feature new couples.

Single dad books-when they're well done-are kind of my kryptonite. When I saw the blurb for this book I couldn't help but wait for release day on pins and needles so that I could finally read it-and it did not disappoint. There's heat, heart and an adorable little one in the mix which added up to a definite 5 star read for me.

I fell for Max hard right from the very start. He makes it almost impossible not to, trust me. I think what Max makes such an easily lovable character is how realistic he is. He's not perfect-and doesn't try to be. He's just trying to make the best of the situation that he's been given. His focus and determination are incredibly sexy.

Addison is sweet, if not a little young...but I think it worked in this story. She was sweet, caring and tempted by Max (seriously, find me someone who wouldn't be) but still has her head on her shoulders enough to care about the innocent party in all of this, baby Dylan. I believed in Addison, who she was, what she cared about, it was all very honest.

The chemistry between these two was off the charts, and it jumps off the page from the moment they meet. I loved watching them struggle against the inevitable, only to come together so spectacularly. I liked that they didn't jump into a relationship right away, the build and pacing of them eventually coming together was great.

There was a bit of drama here but it worked. It was all drama that I could see happening if this situation were to happen in real life and I appreciated that the author kept the focus on Max and Addison even as secondary characters tried to insert themselves into the equation.

The end of this book had me sighing and smiling all at once. This is definitely a book I will go back and read again. I highly recommend it.

BEAUTIFUL PLAYER BY CHRISTINA LAUREN-SPOTLIGHT

A bombshell bookworm. A chronic Casanova. And a lesson in chemistry too scandalous for school.

When Hanna Bergstrom receives a lecture from her overprotective brother about neglecting her social life and burying herself in grad school, she’s determined to tackle his implied assignment: get out, make friends, start dating. And who better to turn her into the sultry siren every man wants than her brother’s gorgeous best friend, Will Sumner, venture capitalist and unapologetic playboy?

Will takes risks for a living, but he’s skeptical about this challenge of Hanna’s…until the wild night his innocently seductive pupil tempts him into bed- and teaches him a thing or two about being with a woman he can’t forget. Now that Hanna’s discovered the power of her own sex appeal, it’s up to Will to prove he’s the only man she’ll ever need.

I'm late to the game on discovering Christina Lauren-and while part of me regrets that, part of me is ok with it because it means I have numerous books by them to binge on. Beautiful Player is a smart, sexy and emotional book and I loved every moment of it.

Beautiful Player is the story of Will, a smart, sexy player and Hanna, a socially awkward, brilliant and beautiful woman. The two have a history-Will is friends with Hanna's older brother, but this book is so much more than a typical falling for my brother's friend trope. For me, this packed an emotional punch that I wasn't quite expecting.

I adored Hanna. She's sweet, she's incredibly smart and most importantly, she's herself with Will. From the moment they cross paths again she is true to who she is as a person, not trying to change to fit into Will's lifestyle. I applaud that. She blossoms in this book; her confidence growing with each chapter, but she still has those occasional doubting moments like we all do. I would absolutely hang out with Hanna any day.

Will-oh my God, Will. I love that Will doesn't put on airs about who he is. He's a great guy, he's just not looking for a relationship. But when he realizes he DOES want something with Hanna watching him try to figure out how to handle that was endearing. He was cautious of her feelings, but at the same trying to show her without scaring her (or himself) that he wanted more. Seeing the journey he took from being a bit of a player to watching him realize he truly desired being with one woman was so so satisfying.

Of course we had appearances from our other favorite characters from this series, which is always nice. I enjoy catching up with old friends like that. They didn't overwhelm the story whatsoever.

I loved this book. Will is definitely on my list of all time favorite book boyfriends. This was a fantastic read and I highly recommend it.

SWEET SOUTHERN TROUBLE BY MICHELE SUMMERS-REVIEW

An ambitious Southern belle
Marabelle Fairchild knows she's a gal who can get things done. Feeling unappreciated at the exclusive private school where she's a kindergarten aide and varsity tennis coach, Marabelle determines to score with the next big fundraiser. What she doesn't expect? A smokin' hot football coach to throw her off her game...

A reclusive NFL bachelor...
NFL coach Nick Frasier is Raleigh's most eligible bachelor, but he wants to focus on his career...not his playboy status. He doesn't need a smart-mouthed, pint-sized kindergarten teacher pestering him. So he cuts Marabelle a deal—in exchange for Nick sponsoring a bachelor auction starring him and his gorgeous celebrity pals, Marabelle will pose as his fiancĂ©e to ward off unwanted advances.

What could possibly go wrong?

This one took a while for me to get into, as I was not the biggest fan of Nick.  His inner dialog makes him come across as a jerk, and the things he thinks about Marabelle, and the things he thinks she has done, make him seem like someone who is not really a hero of a romance novel.

Marabelle and Nick were interesting together, and I mostly believed their relationship and their attraction.  Although, a lot of this was from the idea that the things Nick said to her and the things he was thinking are very different.

Once I got past this, I was mostly able to enjoy the story.  The writing was strong overall and the characters, after about the 25% mark were relateable and likeable.

I do recommend this title, with the caveat that it is a book that improves as you get farther into the story.  By the end, I did like Nick, even though I was not 100% sold on him, I do believe he honestly loves her, and that is really what matters.

ALL ABOUT THE D BY LEX MARTIN AND LESLIE MCADAM-RELEASE BOOST

A sexy new romantic comedy from USA Today bestselling author Lex Martin and bestselling author Leslie McAdam…

ALL ABOUT THE D

I'm known for being formal. Meticulous. Professional.

So you’d never suspect I spend my nights photographing my impressive junk for a NSFW blog. Don’t roll your eyes. I’m not bragging. I have millions of followers who’ll tell you they live for my posts.

I’m like a superhero, saving humanity one dick pic at a time.

Except leading a double life means I need someone to help me protect my anonymity, so that no one, especially my family, ever discovers my online celebrity.

When I call one of the most respected law firms in town, I expect quality legal advice and confidentiality. Not a sinfully sexy attorney whose dangerous curves and soul-piercing gray eyes make me want to personally demonstrate my particular skill set.

I shouldn’t be tempted.

Especially when she knows all of my best-kept secrets. But everyone has a breaking point. And I’ve met mine.

Lex Martin

Lex writes contemporary romance, the sexy kind with lotsa angst, a whole lotta kissing, and the hot happily ever afters. When she's not writing, she lives a parallel life as an English teacher.

She loves printing black and white photos, listening to music on vinyl, and getting lost in a great book. Bitten by wanderlust, she's  lived all over the country but currently resides in the City of Angels with her husband and twin daughters.

Lex is represented by Kimberly Brower of Brower Literary & Management.

Leslie McAdam

Leslie McAdam is a California girl who loves romance, Little Dude, and well-defined abs. She lives in a drafty old farmhouse on a small orange tree farm in Southern California with her husband and two small children. Leslie always encourages her kids to be themselves - even if it means letting her daughter wear leopard print from head to toe. An avid reader from a young age, she will always trade watching TV for reading a book, unless it's Top Gear. Or football. Leslie is employed by day but spends her nights writing about the men you fantasize about. She's unapologetically sarcastic and notoriously terrible at comma placement.

Always up for a laugh, Leslie tries to see humor in all things. When she's not in the writing cave you'll find her fangirling over Beck, camping with her family, or mixing up oil paints to depict her love of outdoors on canvas.
