Dating-ish, an all new standalone from the USA Today bestselling Knitting in the City romantic comedy series by Penny Reid is available now!
'Dating-ish' can be read as a standalone, is a full length 100k word novel, and is book #6 in the Knitting in the City Series.
There are three things you need to know about Marie Harris: 1) She's fed up with online dating, 2) She's so fed up, she's willing to forego the annoyance and consider more creative alternatives, and 3) She knows how to knit.
After the most bizarre and irritating first date in the history of humankind, Marie is looking for an alternative to men. With the help of her friends, she quickly identifies a few possibilities:
Need a cuddle? Use a professional cuddler. Need affirmation? Get yourself a life coach. Need an orgasm? Try orgasm meditation! Why does she need the hassle of a romantic partner when she can meet all her needs with paid services?
But then her irritating date resurfaces. And he's not at all the person she thought he was. And he suggests a different--and crazier--solution to her dilemma . . .
As everyone knows (or will soon come to realize), traditional relations between humans are a thing of the past. Robots are our future. And if robots are our future, then why do we need other people at all?
This book is a standalone but does have characters in it from prior books. Personally, I love those connections but if you haven't read anything by Penny Reid start here. I promise you won't regret it.
Marie and Matt pulled my heartstrings from the very beginning. It was a slight tug, then a little more insistent and before I knew it I was lost to them. I don't usually cry over books, but this one had me crying more than once. It just truly touched me that much. You can't help rooting for these characters. I dare anyone to try.
I like that the connection between these characters isn't instantaneous. The slow burn that they have is incredible. Their situation and how they come together is unique and refreshing and so very Penny Reid. I adore that about her writing. She treats her readers like the smart women they are, giving them new situations and ideas to ponder. There were many moments I thought, "hmm," or "aha!".
I know some people might not think this book is for them after reading the blurb. Robots? In a romance novel? It gave me pause for one second and then I remembered it was Penny Reid book and if anyone could make that topic work it was her. Trust me-read the book, you won't regret it.
This book just flowed for me. It was well written, paced perfectly and full of smart humor and romance. Penny Reid is a one click author for me and Dating-ish reminded me as to why I adore her work so much. I eagerly await her next book and highly recommend this one.
