ON THE LINE BY LIZ LINCOLN - ARC REVIEW

Is this man: A) a super-hot NFL player, B) the guy you’re sexting, or C) your new boss?

If you’re Carrie Herron, the answer is all of the above. First Carrie starts exchanging steamy text messages with the sexy single dad she meets in line at the grocery store. Then she lands a job—and a bedroom—as the live-in nanny for the daughter of the Milwaukee Dragons’ newest star. But when Carrie shows up for work and realizes that they’re actually the same guy, she has no choice but to try to keep things professional. After all, Seth Chamberlain is her boss now. Her chiseled, charismatic, oh-so-tempting boss. . . .

After getting traded from Houston to Milwaukee, Seth’s having a tough time keeping his head in the game, let alone setting up his daughter in a brand-new city. So if the only nanny his daughter will tolerate while he’s on the road is the gorgeous, cosplay-loving redhead he’s had his eye on, well, so be it. Surely he can resist Carrie until football season is over. But with her knowing glances and kissable lips driving him wild, Seth must decide whether he’s ready to put everything on the line.

I like sports romance in which the hero, or heroine, as the case may be, is actually living the life of a professional athlete.  In this one, Seth is a football player for the Milwaukee Dragons who needs some help with his 12 year old daughter and Carrie is unemployed and hunting for a position as a teacher, but despite a number of interviews, is not having any luck finding a new job.

As Seth is new to Milwaukee, while he has friends, he left his family and support system back in Houston, and he needs a way to lead his life in the NFL while giving stability to his daughter.  Enter Carrie, the new nanny (although, they had met previously and there was some flirting before they knew who each other was) and the problem is solved.

Yet, as often happens, the solution to one problem brings another one...in this case, the amazing attraction they have for one another and the fact that now that she is caring for his daughter, they feel this is not something they can act on.

And, a good portion of this is them fighting the attraction, giving in a little bit, and then pulling away.  It was hot, it was realistic, and it kept me turning the pages.

There was an element that I thought was a little unnecessary with a person from the past.  It was tossed in quickly, so it didn't really mess up the story, but the time spent on it didn't seem quite right, and I didn't totally believe the response of this person.

But, this was minor, and overall I really enjoyed this title, and I am looking forward to the next in the series.

i recommend this book.

She took several long, slow breaths with her eyes closed, trying to ground herself and remember all the reasons she couldn’t throw herself at Seth and kiss him right that instant. When she finally got her pulse back in the vicinity of normal, she opened her eyes, scanning the lot for a trash can. She didn’t want her mostly empty cup to drip in Seth’s car.
She spotted one near the building and pushed off the hood to walk away. “I’m going to—”
The rest of the words died on her tongue when Seth’s hand wrapped around her upper arm and turned her back toward him. She looked up, taking in the six feet four inches—yeah, she’d looked up his stats—of broad, delicious man filling her vision.
She didn’t breathe as she watched him rake his gaze over her. The hunger she felt in it made her nipples harden to the point of visibility, but she was too turned on to care. As if he didn’t already know what he did to her.
Huffing out a breath, he took the step into her space. Another step forward and her back pressed against the SUV’s hood, his hand slid into her hair, and his lips descended on hers.
It all happened so fast, she didn’t have a chance to process everything. Her body simply reacted, her mouth moving under his as her arms slid around his large body. She clutched his back, pulling him closer; they both moaned.
With her lips parted, Seth’s tongue slid into her mouth and began a wild exploration. She stroked her own tongue against his and elicited another moan. All the while, the coarse hairs of his beard scraped at her skin, adding to the myriad of sensations vying for her attention.
But overshadowing them all was the feel of his body pressed to hers. He slid one arm around her, the other tangled in her hair as his thumb caressed her cheek. His arm held her tightly against him, his hand splayed low on her back.
Such a bad idea. But so, so good.
Restless and reckless, she needed to touch more of him. She wanted to feel all those muscles, feel the power coiled up in his athlete’s body. She slid her hands up his arms and he shuddered against her.
“Carrie,” he groaned, then gave her lower lip a little nip before sinking in deep once again. Lights burst behind her eyelids and she dug her nails into his biceps, drawing a moan that vibrated from him into her.
A domino effect of sensation and reaction, sensation and reaction.
What would be his reaction to the sensation of her running her hands over his shoulders until they met at the nape of his neck?
He deepened the angle of their kiss and traced his tongue along the edges of her teeth. She nipped playfully at his tongue, and he chuckled and pressed tighter to her.
Pressed his solid erection against her, a little higher than where she wanted it most. But she didn’t chase after it. Not in a public parking lot, no matter how much she wanted to.
“You are too fucking sexy,” he bit out, his voice a rough rasp over her ear.
And his kiss was too good. Too much from just a little kiss. Her muscles twitched as heat coursed through her. She couldn’t take it. They needed to stop.
Before she could say something, he drew his face back enough to look into her eyes. His own were dark blue and stormy, the lines of his face tense.
“Seth.” She mouthed it more than spoke, barely a whisper escaping. She didn’t have enough breath for more.
“Jesus, Carrie. I don’t . . .” He searched her face for another hot moment. “You are so sexy.”
He made her sexy. She’d never felt this wild with a man before, this uninhibited. No other man could have inspired her to make out against the hood of a car. But Seth connected with something hidden deep inside her, a woman unafraid to grab what she wanted and take it.
Except she couldn’t take it. Not now. Maybe not ever.
He huffed out a frustrated sound, his breath hot over her lips.
A new wave of desire rolled through her and it took all her restraint not to pull him back down to her and again get lost in his kiss.
“I think I finally understand what singers mean when they say they’re drunk on a woman.” His voice was raw and thick.
She trembled inside at his words, unsure what to think of them, unsure how to respond.
So she said, “We can’t do this.” Her voice came out breathy, but with his chest still pressed to hers, her nipples hard, her breasts heavy and aching, she couldn’t pull in enough air. “But I still . . .” She lifted her lashes and made herself look directly into his eyes.
This close, they were impossibly, intensely blue. Something softened in her chest, leaving a hot, melted ache she didn’t understand.
He felt drunk from kissing her. Holy swoon. No man had ever said something so bluntly honest to her. And she felt it too, a dizzying high buzzing through her simply from having his mouth pressed to hers.
Sex with him would probably be better than the highest-quality narcotic. All the fun, none of the illegality or addicting side effects.
Too bad she needed a job and a house more than she needed great sex.

TURN ME ON BY J. KENNER-RELEASE BLITZ

Sometimes one night just isn’t enough.

Though they see each other only once a month, Amanda’s sweet body and wicked ways have been driving Derek wild for over a year.

And now that he’s moving to Austin, Derek is determined to have Amanda in his bed permanently.

There’s only one problem: Amanda’s happy with their current arrangement. Can Derek convince her a lifetime of nights together will be so much sweeter?

Meet Mr. July … he’s determined to heat things up.

**Turn Me On is part of a binge read series by New York Times, USA Today, Wall Street Journal, Publishers Weekly, and #1 International bestselling author of the million copy Stark series, J. Kenner.

Each book in the series is a STANDALONE novel with NO cliffhanger and a guaranteed HEA!

I have been enjoying all of J. Kenner's Man of the Month books and Turn Me On just continued that streak. Turn Me On had me smiling and sighing my way through it. I thoroughly enjoyed it.

I liked Amanda and Derek. I loved their initial meet-it was fun and different. I wish I had been sitting with Amanda at the bar, but with the way J. Kenner writes I feel like I almost was. I loved watching what was supposed to be a once a month thing grow into something more.

These books are shorter books, but I really feel like Amanda and Derek's relationship progressed perfectly throughout it. The chemistry was there, the sexy scenes were sexy and it all felt very believable. I loved seeing the relationship-that neither wanted-establish itself. Derek positively had me swooning and while, yes, I wanted to shake Amanda at one point I understood her reactions.

I loved seeing glimpses of characters from other books but if you haven't read any of the other books in this series, no worries. This can absolutely be enjoyed as a standalone. This was a fast read and I wasn't ready for it to end. I truly enjoyed this book and can't wait to see what the author has in store for next month.

I have enjoyed all of the titles in this series. But, as I have noted before, I tend to enjoy more the ones that take place outside of The Fix on 6th, which this one does. I am not sure why, but I think I like the idea that they feel more like inter connected standalone novels with recurring characters than part of one large story.

Amanda and Derek have a long standing "when we are both inaustin" long standing affair. Both of them are aware that there is more going on between them than they are admitting, but as they don't both live in Austin, they are able to sort of ignore that their relationship is more than a casual, see-you-when-I-see-you set up.

I loved the chemistry between them, and I absolutely loved the first meeting. The entire conversation, the drink and waiting for her outside the bar...perfect, hilarious, and enjoyable. I loved both of them from the beginning of this story, and following the development of their relationship was a lot of fun.

I am looking forward to the next in the series, and as this one wasn't really in the bar at all, I am guessing the next one will be in it mostly, and admittedly, I think I am ready to spend some time in there, again.

I enjoyed this title, and I recommend it.

LEADING THE WITNESS BY CHANTAL FERNANDO-RELEASE BLITZ

Blurb

New York Times bestselling author Chantal Fernando “turns up the heat” (RT Book Reviews) in this steamy standalone novel when a divorce lawyer finds himself stuck between his client and the woman he desires—and soon he’ll be forced to choose sides.

Hunter Brayze doesn’t always like his clients but as the divorce attorney for Bentley & Channing Law, he doesn’t have to. So when he meets his latest client, even though he can’t stand the guy, let alone understand how any woman would ever marry him, he is still determined to win his case. But he never expects taking this client would turn his entire world upside down.

When he comes face to face with his client’s soon-to-be ex, he’s shocked to see Riley McMahon, owner of his local pub and the woman he’s wanted ever since he first laid eyes on her. He didn’t even know she was getting a divorce, and now he’s stuck defending the man who wants to screw Riley out of everything. Feeling like he’s betraying her, Hunter vows to settle this case as quickly as he can by any means possible. Because after months of flirting with Riley at the pub, and now knowing that she’ll soon be free, Hunter is determined to make her his.

But as the proceedings get messier and secrets are revealed, Hunter’s running out of tricks to keep both parties happy. And when someone sets Riley’s pub on fire, he can’t help but suspect his own client. Torn between his professional code of ethics and his intense connection with Riley, Hunter finds himself at a crossroads wondering whose interests he’ll ultimately protect.

I enjoy forbidden romances when there really is a reason for them not to be together. Not a made up reason, or one where they feel that it is a bad idea, but a real, actual reason. In this one, Hunter is representing Riley's soon to be ex husband in their divorce.

That is a real reason.

I also enjoyed that this was resolved reasonably quickly, but both of them respected the other, and there was enough time from the divorce to the start of the new relationship. All of this combined for me to really believe that there was an actual, viable relationship between them.

I enjoyed their connection, the other characters in the story, and the story arc. I related, and sympathized, with the characters. I believed that they were real people, and I thought they reacted as people would in the situation.

The conflict of interest series are all enjoyable, and I recommend this title. It can be read as a standalone, although there are characters in this from the other previous titles.

ONE WILD NIGHT BY A. L. JACKSON AND REBECCA SHEA - RELEASE BLITZ & ARC REVIEW

A flirty, sexy contemporary romance from bestselling authors, A.L. Jackson and Rebecca Shea . . .

Kaylee Rose Burton, kindergarten teacher, has never been a believer in fantasies.

Living in L.A. her entire life, she knows the glitz and glam of Hollywood is just an illusion.

That is until she stumbles head first into the arms of Hollywood’s most eligible bachelor.

It was just another day for Paxton Myles on the red carpet until the blue-eyed beauty literally stumbles at his feet.

A single glimpse in her innocent eyes and he knows he has to have her.

After one night of unbridled passion, Kaylee slips away to live her quite life, but the paparazzi has other ideas.

When Kaylee’s world comes crashing down, can Paxton convince her that their one wild night could turn into forever?

I enjoy A.L. Jackson and Rebecca Shea, so when I heard there was a co-written title, I was anxious to get my hands on it, and I enjoyed it overall.  I can't lie, I was expecting to enjoy it, and as a fan of both of these authors, it was fun to see them blend their writing together, and it flows very well.

I liked Kaylee and Paxton. I believed in their connection, I believed that Kaylee would be interested in him, and I appreciated that he was aware of not only what he had with her, but also of the differences in the life she was from.

There were parts of it that were a little predictable, but in a way that felt realistic.  Would a kindergarten teacher get some flack from a relationship with a celebrity?  Probably.  Was it a little predictable that this happened?  Maybe...but sometimes things are predictable as they are what would happen in real life.  It's a tough balance for an author, and I thought the authors of this title balanced it well.

I definitely enjoyed this title overall, and I am looking forward to the next co-written title from these authors.  I recommend this title.

It's here!!!!!! ONE WILD NIGHT is LIVE!
It's fun.
It's flirty.
It's sexy.
And yep, it'll still give you the feels!
I had an absolute blast writing this collaboration with one of my very best friends, Rebecca Shea, and we're so proud to bring it to you. It's a departure from what we typically write, but there is something about it that just hit the spot ;)
I hope you love Paxton and Kaylee's super fun, sexy story <3

TAME BY COLET ABEDI - RELEASE BLITZ

Tame-Ebook-Final

Abby Walters fell in love with me when she was a child.

In many ways, she still is one. That sweet, sheltered good girl may look like a walking orgasm, but I know she’s innocent.

Too innocent for me, the renowned British playboy.

It’s ironic, isn’t it, that I’m the one spending my career in philanthropy while she toils away as a barista. The heiress to her own fortune, she’s terrible at this job. It’s all wrong for her.

But then so am I.

So why did I offer to hire her?

Because I want her close to me.

Under my control.

And in my bed.

It’s not like Abby’s going to tame me. Right?

THIS TIME AROUND BY STACEY LYNN - BLOG TOUR

IMG_1512.JPG

ThisTimeAround-StaceyLynn-Amazon_1
Cooper Hawke was everything I didn’t need. Rich and famous, and a high-profile actor, he lived a life of luxury while my life had always been much more simple.

Yet when he showed up at my cattle ranch in Kansas, he gave me everything I didn’t think I wanted again.

His marriage was over and he was lost.

I was still barely surviving in my grief after my husband’s sudden death.

As hard as I tried to keep him out, he slipped past my defenses, and slowly, a connection grew between us I could no longer deny.

But this time around, we were on borrowed time. Because Cooper still had his real life waiting for him back in Hollywood.

I enjoyed this title, and I liked Cooper a lot.  I thought he was approachable, and genuine, and I enjoyed getting to know him, and watching his relationship develop with Rebecca.

I liked Cooper and Rebecca together, I liked their connection and the way their attraction was written. I thought they seemed like authentic people and that their connection felt real.

However, and this was tough for me, I never really liked Rebecca. I related to her, and her emotions seemed real.  But I struggled to connect with her.  I wanted her to warm up to Cooper, I wanted to really feel that she was ready to move on with him...and I never totally did.

While this did not make it totally un-enjoyable, I do like the books where I relate to both characters more than ones where I am left feeling a little cold.  But, just like in life, you aren't going to like every person.

Overall, I enjoyed this title and I recommend it.

Excerpt:

“What are you doing here?” I wrapped the robe around my waist, tightened the knot. Goddamn it! He wasn’t supposed to see this. “Couldn’t sleep?” That was what he asked. The urge to scream at him, to unleash holy terror for putting the idea into my head and making me feel, clawed at my throat. “No. Why are you in my room?” “Because I couldn’t sleep on the couch thinking of you and then I started hearing all this racket like the ceiling was going to cave in on my head and thought I should come check on you.” My brain must have malfunctioned. I must have skipped some words, rearranged them in the wrong order. He didn’t say what it sounded like. “What?” He pinned me with a look. It stole the breath from my lungs. “You heard me.” Shit. “Yeah, shit.” I slammed my mouth closed. If words were slipping out, when I didn’t mean them to, it was best to be quiet. “Come out of the closet, Rebecca.” He held out his hand. I ignored it. I couldn’t breathe or move or focus. He was standing outside my closet, and he was naked. Not naked, naked. Mostly naked. He’d taken off the pants and shirt I’d given him and all he had on was a pair of black boxer briefs. Skin-tight boxer briefs. That showed every outline of him. And there was a lot of him to see. My eyes darted to the side of the closet I’d swiped clean. Tomorrow, I’d bleach my eyes to erase that visual. “Rebecca.” “I’m fine here.” He laughed low and slow, beautiful and over too quickly. I was not moving. “You don’t come out, I’m coming in there to get you.” No way in hell was he touching me. Not dressed like that. I stepped over the bucket of shoes at my feet and stepped into the room. He moved back, giving me space and crossed his arms over his chest. It hid nothing. I couldn’t find a place to focus on. I was losing my mind. It had to be sleep deprivation. I looked to my bed and ruffled covers which made me think of… Nope. Not going there. I stared at the wall. It was cream and void of any decorations or photos. It was safe. Finally, I breathed. He stood there, watching me, I felt it like I felt my skin crawling from his inspection. “Want to talk about this?” he asked. Nope. I didn’t. I didn’t want to say a single word to Cooper Hawke. The man in underwear in my bedroom. I crossed my arms over my stomach. Uncrossed them. “No.” My hands went to my hair and I untangled my hair tie, shoving my hands back into my hair and re-fixing the messy knot. “I don’t want to talk about it.” “I might be able to help, you know. It’s not like I haven’t stood in a closet, wanting to do the exact same thing you’ve just done.” “You can’t help me.” He stepped closer. I shuffled back. He moved again. I retreated. He was getting closer when he needed to move back. “Cooper,” I said, “Please. I need to be alone.” “I thought we were friends.” “What?” My gaze jumped to him, fell. Tight, tanned skin and black boxer briefs. A trail of hair from his bellybutton that disappeared beneath those briefs burned into my retinas. I squeezed my eyes closed. A futile attempt to erase that pretty, pretty sight. “I thought we were friends,” he repeated. I forced my eyes open and choked out, “We are.” His full lips quirked into a grin. I knew that look. He had it downstairs. I did not like that look. Not one little bit. “Friends help each other, don’t they?” “Friends respect what the other person wants and needs.” I scooted away from him again and bumped into the wall next to my closet. He took one more step toward me. Slowly. Like he’d done downstairs, allowing me time to move away, allowing me time to see his intention. My head screamed to move out of the way while my body shouted stay right where you are. My body sucked. He was in front of me, not touching me. Far enough away where he was in no danger of touching me. I still wanted him to touch me. His hand raised and he settled it on the wall above my shoulder. And I could smell him. “Cooper. Why are you here?” He didn’t even blink. “Because I want to help you.” “You can’t.” “I can try.”

SEXY BEAST BY ELLA J-BLOG TOUR

BLURB

Yeah, I did it.

I signed on to be an “intimate companion.”

Desperate times and desperate measures lead to crazy choices.

Really, though, it’s not that crazy. Someone has to pay my brother’s bills after the wreck, and I’m the only someone left.

My first job: snuggle up to a sexy beast of a billionaire at one of his luxury ski resorts.

I can do that.

Except I’m not so sure he wants me to. The Ice King barely looks at me. He rarely speaks to me, and when he does, he says he doesn’t want me in his bed.

Okay then.

I keep my head held high, my shoulders squared, and my bruised ego under wraps—until I stumble onto secrets.

James Harrington is hiding devastating secrets.

I get too close. I get involved. I take a risk, and I give him more than he paid for.

For a moment, it’s too perfect to be true.

But there’s one more secret—and it’s the one I never saw coming.

This blurb caught me from the very beginning. It sounded hot and steamy, with a smidgen of angst. I'm not the biggest fan of angst in books-it has to be GOOD and serve a true purpose. This novella had a touch of angst and I was perfectly fine with it.

I liked Darcy and I liked James. Truly, I did. There's a spark between them that is immediate, and it's 100% believable. With a novella, I expect that some things need to happen quickly-like chemistry-and it can sometimes feel forced. That certainly isn't the case with this book. It just worked here, and it worked well.

I will say that this book definitely had me fanning myself throughout. It was sexy and steamy and I appreciated that. There were some spots that I wanted more depth, but it's a novella so I understand that there wasn't a ton of time for certain things.

Overall, I enjoyed this title. It was fast paced, and hot and steamy. Definitely something that can be read in one sitting (and I did). I would recommend this novella.

I enjoyed this shorter story, although I think I wanted it to be longer. There was a lot going on, and while all of it was resolved, the things happening in the story definitely could have been told in a longer story as well.

Darcy and James meet when James hires her as his companion for the events of the grand opening week of his new ski resort. But, despite what she is expecting, the job doesn't come with the sexual favors she is expecting to have to perform.

I liked that this attractive man has his reasons for keeping his distance, and I liked the conversations between them, the immediate spark, the work he went to in order to make sure there was nothing between them, and his willingness to let her in once there was.

Due to the length of the book, all of this happens rather quickly, and it is slightly insta-love, but it works and I enjoyed this title overall.

It’s not just his eyes that are striking. He’s so handsome that it’s almost impossible, with a strong, square jaw and high cheekbones. He has dark hair, though, slicked back. I’d call him movie-star handsome if it weren’t for the powerful presence in his face and body— the way he stands, and the show of athleticism I just saw when he skied in. This man is no pretty boy, and just standing still I feel like he’s taking up all the space in the room. The building. And he’s tall. I’m in heels, and I have to look up to meet his eyes.

He’s also breathing fast from his run down the mountain, and the strange whorl of snowy cold and heat coming from him is just more unsettling. I catch a clean scent of spicy soap and snow on the air, too. Out of nowhere, I feel a strange pull in my chest, like I want to step closer even as I feel a tingle of caution along the back of my neck. The way it feels to approach something animal and caged.

“You’re Darcy? Rina sent you?” His voice is disconcertingly deep.

I blush and start when he says my name. I don’t even know why. I was half-expecting this gorgeous guy to keep walking out of the room, but he stands there looking at me, one eyebrow raised. And then he holds out his hand to shake mine.

And it finally clicks for me that this is James Harrington. The Ice King. My client.
