ABOUT LOCKE AND KEY

THE STOIC SPECIAL FORCES OPERATOR

There’s only one person to blame for darkening the last years of Locke Oliver’s military career: Cassidy Noble. And damn if he doesn’t have to save her from the side of a frozen mountain.
Even after the job is done, he can’t shake the woman from his thoughts. He blames her for the deaths in his Army unit so many years ago, and he’s not ready to let that go. It’s driving him to the point of distraction, and now his Titan Group boss says to get his act together or get out.

THE FEISTY, FALLEN REPORTER

Cassidy is a disgraced journalist, once accused of treason—Or she’s an American hero. It depends on who you ask. She’s on a mission to rebuild her name and started with a simple question but discovered a complex web of spies and possible human trafficking.
Titan Group believes in her.

Locke does not. Until he can’t deny the truth any longer about the past or what she’s uncovered in her investigation.

BECOME AN INSEPARABLE TEAM

Cassidy volunteers to go undercover. Locke would do anything to stay by her side as she slips into the network and is sold to the highest bidder. All is going right until everything goes wrong. Nothing is as they expect including falling in love with the woman he thought he hated.

Bombshell, an all-new sexy and swoony standalone from CD Reiss is available now!

Reiss-Bombshell-23344-CV-FT-v6

Bombshell by CD Reiss Publication Date: May 1st, 2017 Publisher: Montlake Genre: Contemporary Romance

Synopsis:

Hollywood bad boy Brad Sinclair always gets his way, whether it’s the role he wants or the bikini-clad model he has to have. But when a bombshell gets dropped in his lap in the form of a dimpled five-year-old from a forgotten relationship, he knows his life is about to change forever.
Cara DuMont isn’t exactly thrilled when she gets assigned to be the nanny for the latest box-office king. She has one rule: no celebrity fathers, especially single ones with devilish good looks and rock-hard abs.
But as soon as Cara meets Brad and his adorable little girl, she knows she’s in for a world of trouble. Because there’s something about the way Brad looks at her that makes her believe that some rules are meant to be broken…

What.

A.

Ride.

First, let's talk about the 5 year old. You know she is going to be in the book from the blurb, but what you don't know is just how wonderful she is. Writing an adult you believe is difficult, writing a 5 year old who feels real, who steals the story, and is just plain adorable can't be easy. But, CD Reiss makes it look like the easiest thing ever.

Brad and Cara. Sigh. I was not sure what I was going to think of Brad, as the "Hollywood star" hero lost a lot of it's appeal the first time I got stuck in traffic on the way home due to filming (so, about my 2nd day living in Los Angeles, LOL). Well, I love Brad. I love how he really is trying to be the good guy, but how scared he is of losing the things that he really isn't sure how he ended up with in the first place. I love that he wants to do the right thing, that he wants those around him to be happy. And, most of all, I love that he was not perfect.

Cara is someone I would want to be friends with. You admire who she is, and I found myself really drawn to how true she is to herself, to what she wants, to what is important to her, and how willing she is to stand up for, and with, those people she loves.

They were perfect together. Add in a little girl that they both grow to love, and find themselves willing to sacrifice for, and you have a great story. I did have a small issue with the reveal of Brad's bombshell...I totally understand why it took place where it did, but I didn't feel like I had quite enough story to get over it and back to adoring him. I was close, and it by no means ruined it for me, and I am not even sure it would have worked earlier, as I needed to like him as much as I did to get over it, but it was the one thing that wasn't perfect.

CD Reiss is a go to author for me. When an author writes characters you believe in, who act in ways that make you angry at them, even though they are just people on a page, you know this is an author you need to follow.

I absolutely recommend this book.

Wow. The moment I saw this blurb I wanted to get my hands on it. I'm a sucker for single dad stories and I love C.D. Reiss' writing so this was high on my TBR list-and I definitely enjoyed this book.

I sometimes worry about books that have children as such a focal point of the story-because not every author can portray children as well as they can adults. Of course, this is not a problem for C.D. Reiss. I fell in love with Nicole instantly. Her thought pattern, her speech, her wants/needs are all on par for a child her age. I honestly wanted to hug her.

Cara was what I expected...yet not. I loved her protectiveness towards the children in her care. I love that she always had their best interests in mind. She isn't afraid to speak her mind and stand up for herself-rare traits in the Hollywood environment that she finds herself in.

I can't lie-it took me a little while to warm up to Brad. I wanted to love him right away and I just couldn't at first...but once I DID fall? I fell hard. He has the world at his feet and just doesn't even know what to do with it. There were some moments of frustration but watching him push and grow through them was satisfying.

Oh the slow burn. The ache for these two to be together was intense. Once they finally came together? Holy fireworks. C.D. Reiss knows how to write sex that is steamy, hot, and sexy and that shows in this book.

This book had some laughs in it for me as well, as any book involving a child will. They do tend to pop up and say things at the most inopportune times. Watching them all figure out the dynamics they were now dealing with was interesting. I liked how realistic that was; these three characters (Nicole totally counts) figuring out what to do with one another and dealing with their growing pains.

Bombshell was an enjoyable-and more emotional than I expected- read for me and I would absolutely recommend it. I look forward to seeing what Ms. Reiss has in store for us next!

Excerpt:

The front door opened. I expected a housekeeper or butler, but it was the actor himself. I hadn’t forgotten how beautiful he was; I’d just chosen not to think about it. “Ma’am,” he said. Southern boy. Parents together. Christian elementary. Public secondary. Two years at USC Drama. Dates his costars for a month after the wrap party, then moves on. Poring through the trades and making calls, I’d discovered he’d spend at least eight of the next twelve months overseas doing action movies, but most had postproduction in town. “Mr. Sinclair,” I said, holding my hand out. “Nice to see you outside a bathroom.” He shook my hand. I’d shaken plenty of famous hands attached to gorgeous men, but my imagination was sparked by the way his fingers slid against mine to grasp them and the way our palms pressed together. My mind clouded over with ripped sheets, hard muscles, and soft skin. “Pleasure’s mine,” he said and my brain skipped like a trip on a cracked sidewalk over the word pleasure. He didn’t give me the oversincere hand-over-clasp to show me how damn happy he was to see me, but there was something intimate about that half a second. Just a consultation. I followed him into the house. Dora Donovan had designed it. Looked like her with her faux-midcentury white couch and shag rug. That wasn’t going to work with playdates unless he wanted to keep an upholsterer on staff. We went through the living room to a smaller room with a pool table smack in the middle. It had a stained glass Budweiser lamp over it and was racked for nine-ball. Dora Donovan had nothing to do with this room, for sure. “Wanna sit?” He held a chair out for me. The glass-topped table was just inside the open patio doors and was set with iced tea. I sat. “I’m not a date,” I said kindly, indicating the iced tea setup. “Just so you know. You don’t have to do things like hold the chair for me.” “Habit, I guess.” He sat opposite me. “Chivalry is nice. But with the nanny, whomever you hire, it can be misconstrued.” He smirked a little, as if misconstruing his own thoughts. I cleared my throat and pulled my jacket closed.

What had started as a fun little game to bring this timid beauty out of her shell somehow turned into a wrestling match. And I was the one about to lose. Katelyn O’Malley was nothing like I’d imagined. What had I imagined? I wasn’t sure exactly. I’d diligently done my homework— reading Scandal not once, but twice— before I’d hopped on a plane to Oregon. I’d thought the novel would give me insight to this perplexing woman I was about to meet. It hadn’t. Not one bit. If anything, it’d created a thousand more questions. At first, cracking her ironclad shell seemed like a daunting task. She had come off dry and dull. God-awful boring. But boring women didn’t do tequila shots until two in the morning. Boring women didn’t lie to waiters for free wine and dessert. And boring women definitely didn’t make me feel this way. Needy. Desperate. And fucking horny as hell. Even the way she licked the chocolate off her fork was making me shift uncomfortably in my seat. This was a job. Get your head in the game. “You were pretty good at that,” I said, trying not to stare at the way her pink tongue darted out to grab the last bit of mousse from the tip of her finger. “Good at what?” she asked. “Lying.” She let out a choking cough, patting her chest with her palm. “I’m not a good liar,” she argued. “Really? You seemed to have everyone around us fooled, including that charming elderly couple who offered their congratulations on their way out.” “That really was sweet.” She smiled, a touch of whimsy in her gaze. “Did you see the way they held hands? I’m pretty sure he even grabbed her ass when she walked past him to go to the restroom.” I laughed. “My kind of guy.” “I just wonder what it’s like— to be that in love after all that time,” she said, bending forward and resting the curve of her chin on her hand. “How do you know it has been a long time?” I asked. “Maybe they got married late in life.” She shook her head. “I don’t think so.” “Why?” I asked, curious how she’d reached that conclusion. “There was a familiarity in the way they touched. The way they leaned into one another, the way they walked. It was as if they’d been doing so forever.” I studied her for a quiet moment, recalling the intensity of her words and the passion in her voice. It was the first time since meeting Katelyn O’Malley, I could actually see a sliver of Laura Stone, the author, somewhere inside. “I do believe you are a bit of a romantic at heart,” I replied. She smiled sweetly. “Maybe a hopeless one.” My hand reached out to hers, a needless gesture since we’d already achieved our goal for the evening and sold everyone on our false marital status. This time, I touched her because I wanted to. “Definitely not hopeless,” I said softly, knowing that instant that I was crossing the line between business and pleasure. And heading straight to the land of hell. “So, tell me about technical editing,” she said, shifting topics. “How does one get into something like that?” I suddenly felt like I’d been hit in the face with a bucket of ice water. Here I was, in a dimly lit room, romancing the hell out of a woman I’d just met, and then reality hit. I was lying to her. Flat-out lying. I needed to remember that. “There’s not much to tell,” I said, straightening slightly in my chair. “Rather boring really.” We continued to chat about our lives. She told me more about her work at the college. I rambled off more lies about mine until the check came around. I was feeling quite good about myself as I led us outside. My head was clear. But then I saw the way the moonlight highlighted her golden-blonde hair. I became mesmerized by the sway of her hips and the soft curves of her body. Katelyn O’Malley was casting a spell on me, and she didn’t even know it. And I wasn’t sure I wanted her to stop.

THE NEGOTIATOR BY AVERY FLYNN-BLOG TOUR

Wanted: Personal Buffer

Often snarly, workaholic executive seeks “buffer” from annoying outside distractions AKA people. Free spirits with personal boundary issues, excessive quirks, or general squeamishness need not apply. Salary negotiable. Confidentiality required.

Workaholic billionaire Sawyer Carlyle may have joked he needed a buffer from their marriage-obsessed mom, but he didn’t need a waiting room filled with candidates to further distract him. (Thanks, bro.) But when a sexy job applicant shooes his mom and the socialite in tow out of his office, Sawyer sees the genius of the plan. And the woman. In fact, Miss Clover Lee might just get the fastest promotion in history, from buffer to fake fiancé...

This free-spirit might look like hot sunshine and lickable rainbows, but she negotiates like a pitbull. Before Sawyer knows what hit him, he’s agreed to give up Friday nights for reality tv, his Saturdays for flea markets (why buy junk still baffles him), his Tuesdays and Thursdays for date nights (aka panty-losing opportunities if he plays his cards right). And now she wants lavender bath salts and tulips delivered every Monday?
Yup, she’s just screwing with him. Good thing she’s got this non-negotiable six-weeks-and-she’s-gone rule or Sawyer may have just met this match…

The second I read this blurb I knew I wanted to try this book. It sounded fun-a billionaire who needs a buffer from his mom and hires someone for the role? Sign me up. Of course there has to be more to the story-and there was. The book had me chuckling, smirking and sighing. Overall, it was a fun read for me.

I liked Clover. She was pure fun for me to read. She was just what workaholic Sawyer needed. Clover offers up fun, friendship, and definitely attraction. From the moment I met her on the page I had a smile on my face. I admired and respected her goals and what she was doing to attain them-even if they were unconventional. Her life experiences (I don't want to spoil some of her other jobs in life because I think they're fun) all help to build who she is as a person.

Sawyer was everything I expected him to be. Focused on work and a shrewd negotiator. I didn't expect the soft side of him to run so deep-but I positively loved it. He wasn't prepared in any way for Clover, which made their relationship that much more fun from the get go.

The chemistry between them is undeniable. I liked their flirty banter, I liked their dates and their sexy times suited them perfectly. I loved how these two were total opposites but were 100% perfect for each other. I also love that the author flipped a general stereotype of having the man in a relationship be afraid of commitment/taking the next step and flipped it. You don't see that done often and it was done really well here.

The supporting characters in this book were interesting to me as well. I'd like to get a little more about Sawyer's brother, so I'm hoping that his story will get told. I would recommend this book and look forward to reading more from this author.

Excerpt:

A teasing promise lit her eyes. "And I never would have guessed you didn't have any experience working with your hands." Now that was just a straight up lie. "I never said that. You know very well that I'm good with my hands." He reached out and tucked a stray blonde hair behind her ear, letting his touch linger. "Very good." Her breath caught, but she didn't move away as his fingers trailed down the soft column of her neck. Her pulse thrummed under his touch and one glance down at the hard peaks pushing against her thin T-shirt confirmed she was skating along the same fault line between sanity and lust that he was. "Are you flirting with me?" she asked, her voice breathy. "No." He didn't flirt. That was Hudson. Sawyer was the grumpy brother. He never flirted. Still, his hand didn't drop from where he was touching her and he couldn't tear his gaze away from her perfect pink mouth. "Of course not." She leaned forward, cutting the distance between them, so close he could feel her soft breath against his skin. "That would violate the contract." The temptation to dip his head the few inches to kiss her had his entire body hard and wound tight with anticipation. Lust ran through him like a runaway freight train. The little voice in the back of his head screaming that this was a bad idea suffered the same fate as it had in the supply closet last night: death by ignoring. Clover Lee had that effect on him. It was going to be a very long month and a half. "The napkin didn't say anything about flirting," he said. No, he was totally free to give himself blue balls the size of watermelons every time he came near his personal buffer. "Ah-ha!" The triumphant sound escaped her lush lips as she straightened, expanding the space between them and dislodging his hand from her soft skin. "You are flirting." Was he? No. He was torturing himself. That was a very different sort of hell. "You take all the fun out of things." "No way." She shook her head, the movement letting a few more silky strands loose from the knot on the top of her head. "I am the definition of fun. If it wasn't for me, you'd still be in your office banging on your keyboard." "I don't bang." "Not me, you don't," She shot him a cocky smirk. "It's in the contract.”

MISTER ROMANCE BY LEISA RAYVEN-RELEASE BLITZ AND REVIEW

Max Riley is the man of your dreams. Or at least he will be, for a price.

As his alter-ego Mister Romance, Max is a drop-dead gorgeous escort who makes romantic fantasies come to life. No sex, just swoon-worthy dates to die for, and the cream of New York's socialites can't get enough. Whether they want a dominating billionaire, bad boy with a heart of gold, hot geek, sexy biker, or best friend who loves them from afar, Max can make it all happen, but he's careful to keep his real identity a secret.

Enter investigative journalist Eden Tate. Having caught wind of the urban legend of Mister Romance from a lovestruck client, Eden is determined to publish a scathing expose on Max and his ability to swindle lonely society women out of their fortunes.

Desperate to protect his anonymity and his clients, Max challenges Eden to give him three dates. If she doesn't fall in love with him, she can run her story with his blessing. If she succumbs to his charms, the story dies.

Cynical Eden has no doubt she can resist his fake romance personas, but when the real Max admits he’s falling for her, she has to decide if the professional liar is telling the truth, or if the passionate man with the mysterious past is just one more character designed to con her out of her career-making story.

Don’t miss this sizzling new standalone from the internationally best selling author of Bad Romeo, Broken Juliet, and Wicked Heart.

I need more than 5 stars. 11 or 12, maybe that would be enough. Possibly not though. It was really good, there were parts where I cheered, parts where my heart leapt, and places where my heart broke for the characters. One scene in particular, and a comment about the light in parallel to what is happening stuck with me. No spoilers, but it was so good.

Admittedly, Leisa Rayven is a favorite of mine, and every book has been a 5 star rating for me, so when I heard about this one, I wanted to read it before I knew what it was about. And, then there was a blurb, and I really wanted to read it.

But as it has been a little while since there was a new Leisa Rayven novel, what I forgot is how much fun her books are to read. They are well written, the dialog and the pacing are perfect. They are funny at times, but the humor really comes from the fact that her writing is so strong, the characters are human beings and the observations they make are amusing, as you know them as people.

There is a unique pleasure in reading a really good, well written book that is unlike anything else. This pleasure was definitely there for me with this one. I didn't want to put it down, and I didn't want it to end.

Max.

OMG Max.

Max is absolute perfection. And, at the same time he is flawed. You fall in love with him, in all of his forms, in all of characters. And, you see why he would succeed as "Mister Romance" because he is the guy who makes it work, who listens, who draws you in until you are seduced by him and by what he says. You believe him, because one of his real talents is truthful flattery. He finds the things about you that he admires, that he respects, that make you who you are, and that is what he focuses on. I love that he is a better person than he thinks he is.

Eden is also wonderful, and I love her strength, her willingness to get things done, to stand up against those who she thinks are being unfair, while staying true to herself and valuing those who are close to her. I love how willing she is to accept Max, to see him for who he is, and to see beyond the things that are driving him to be the person he is, and the reason for what he is doing.

Leisa Rayven has a special talent with the "I KNEW it" moments, and there is a good one in this, although she had me doubting for a second what I was positive I had put together. Well done, author. She also writes emotion, angst, passion and joy in such a way that it feels like it is coming off the page and wrapping you in the story.

A good book is a pleasure to read.

A great book is one that you think about when you put it down. It's one where you find yourself thinking about the characters when you have to pause in your reading.

An amazing book is one that keeps you up at night, that makes you ignore that you work in the morning, because you just can't put it down.

I was awake until 3am with Max and Eden. It was amazing.

I am sorry it is over, and I can't wait until the next one. I have an "All time favorites" book list, and the ones on this list are those that I am not going to forget, that I will read again, and that will stay with me. This one is on that list. There are fewer than 30 books on it.

I recommend this book.
