BOOK BOYFRIEND BY CLAIRE KINGSLEY-RELEASE BLITZ

Title: Book Boyfriend
Author: Claire Kingsley
Genre: Contemporary Romance
 Release Date: April 6, 2017

Blurb

He's too hot for words.

Mia

Alex Lawson might as well be the hottest book boyfriend imaginable. A fun, romantic, possessive, panty-melting man. And the best part?

He’s real.

For a girl like me—a slightly awkward book addict—Alex is a dream come true, straight off the pages of my favorite romance novels. But our story is turning into a whirlwind romance—the kind that only exists in books.

And I wonder if we’re heading toward our own happily ever after, or if he’s too good to be true.

Alex

Here’s the thing. I’m not a bad guy. Lying to Mia wasn’t part of the plan.

Finding success as a romance author using a female pen name wasn’t part of the plan either. But sometimes life takes unexpected turns.

Like realizing the woman you’re falling for is your alter-ego’s online best friend.

Online, she thinks I’m a woman named Lexi. In person, she knows I’m all man. I want to worship her body and claim every inch of her.

But if she finds out the truth, I could lose everything.

I wanted to like this book, and I did like parts of it. I liked the characterization of the characters, although I had issues with some of their actions.

I thought the writing style was light, fun and breezy. This amused me and made Mia and Alex seem like real people, most of the time. I did like that the book flows smoothly and that the pacing was consistent throughout. I thought the place where the story started was interesting, and a little different, so that was compelling to start out with.

What I didn't like, honestly, is...well...the lack of honesty. I liked that he was conflicted, and I liked that he stayed away from her when he realized that getting involved with Mia would result in him having to keep big secrets from her. The issue I had is that it went WAY too far before she found out. If they are willing to trust one another enough to have sex, there should be enough trust there for him to be willing to share his secret. If there isn't, that is a relationship that should not go forward. But, looking at the other ratings, something I do try not to do until I have finished my review, it would seem that this is just me.

I am also torn on the references to her being a blogger...I thought there was an odd amount of cliche in the book, and in places it seemed a little out of place, like there was maybe too much effort being placed on that being her identity so that in places it felt a little forced.

I did enjoy this overall, and it was the writing style that kept me reading. And I do recommend this, as I am aware that there are a lot of books out there with the whole "I have a super big secret" premise and that this is my own personal pet peeve.

I do recommend this book, with some reservations, but I recommend it.

I love collecting book boyfriends so this title definitely made me smile. I have a list of qualities I look for when adding characters to my book boyfriend list and Alex definitely had some of them. This book was a quick, mostly light, read that overall I enjoyed.

I definitely related to Mia-a woman with a passion for books who blogs about them in her spare time? Yep, I could relate to that. I truly liked Mia, I felt she was a character I'd be friends with in real life-awkward tendencies and all. She had me chuckling a few times as well, from her moments of blurting out whatever she was thinking to fangirling over male models. She was just fun.

Alex DID have some characteristics to make him a good boyfriend. Hot? check. Sexy? check. Swoonworthy? At times. I liked him a lot, but I wanted to love him more. He had the potential but just missed the mark for me after keeping something from Mia longer than I thought he needed to.

Did these characters have chemistry? Yes. Sexy scenes? For sure. There were moments that I thought were very sweet as well.

I liked the secondary characters here. I think they were a good addition and added some good perspective to the story.

Overall, I liked the book and will read this author again.

UNTOUCHABLE BY ISABEL LOVE-RELEASE BLITZ

Title: Untouchable
Series: Unexpected Love #1
Author: Isabel Love
Genre: Contemporary Romance
Release Date: April 6, 2017

Blurb

Monica Morgan is off limits. One-hundred percent untouchable.
Too bad I didn't know that when we first met.
We were just two strangers in a club, drawn together by chemistry.
Hot, SIZZLING chemistry.
Imagine my surprise when I discover that she's my new boss.
And now that we work together, she's determined to keep it professional.
My problem? I can't forget the night we met.
That searing kiss. The way she felt in my hands.
I find myself willing to break the rules to get closer to her.
Though she tries to fight it, I know she feels it, too. This pull.

It's all in the way she fidgets whenever I'm around.
It's all in those lingering, hungry looks she casts my way when she thinks no one is watching.
Despite the risk to my job that comes with pursuing her, I can't seem to stay away from her.
I want to forget about the rules and make her mine.

ADD TO GOODREADS

I can't believe this is a debut novel. I absolutely am a sucker for the taboo/forbidden co-worker romance angle in a book and this particular book took a stereotypical situation and turned it on its head. The book had humor, heat and sexiness. I positively loved it.

I really enjoyed the characters in this book. I understood what Monica was feeling; trying to be true to herself and yet still try to hold on to her professionalism. Seeing her find her balance was incredibly satisfying. When she was having fun, I was having fun. When she was struggling I just wanted to help her out and talk her through it. She's the kind of person I'd want as a friend.

Max...well, Max made my book boyfriend list for sure. He's confident, funny, kind, sweet and holy hell is he sexy. There were moments I felt my kindle was going to melt-and I loved every one of those moments. I just loved him.

I loved this entire group of characters. Sometimes the secondary characters can get in the way of the storytelling but that is not the case here. They enhance Max and Monica's story instead of detracting from it.

I truly enjoyed this author's work and can't wait for the next book from her. I highly recommend Untouchable.

Excerpt

“What’s your name?” he asks me.

“Can we just dance?” I’m not looking to start anything; an anonymous dance is all I want tonight. I’m never going to see this guy again, so exchanging names and getting to know each other is pointless.

He nods, not put off by my refusal to tell him my name. His blue eyes stare into mine, and I am hypnotized. His intense gaze sets my body on fire, and his lips—god, they’re full. As he bites his lower lip, I get the urge to bite it, too. I watch those lips curve into a knowing, sexy grin then my gaze moves from his mouth to his eyes and I feel myself flush. Electricity sparks hot between us, and my body feels like a live wire.

His big hands splay across my back and he leans down to talk directly into my ear. “Can I kiss you?”

I nod and lean up to meet his mouth with mine. Soft—his lips are so soft. His fingers thread into my hair and he pulls me even closer. My eyes flutter shut and I’m lost, my world reduced to the feel of his lips pressing into mine, gently at first, then hungrily.

His tongue licks against my lips and I open my mouth, our tongues tangling. My fingers find their way up his neck and I allow myself to touch his face. Mmmm, his stubble is soft. God, everything about this guy feels good. We kiss and kiss and I feel boneless, breathless. I’m clutching at him and he’s gripping me tight. It’s like his mouth is a magnet pulling me to him.

He makes me forget that we’re in a crowded club. That I’m a respectable physician in charge of a department. That I don’t need a man to be happy. That I usually feel as if I’m juggling a million pieces in the air every day and if I don’t stay on top of everything, all the pieces will come tumbling down. I forget everything; his kiss melts it all away.

Instead, I feel….alive. Surrounded by this strong man, in his arms, practically fused to his mouth, I feel…safe. Electric and desired. Judging by the size of the erection rubbing my stomach from behind his jeans, he is as turned on as I am. We grind into each other, and his heart beats so fast I can feel it thump against my chest.

Soon enough, our bodies start to move in a way that mimics sex. His hands skim down my body, from my hips to my bare legs. His touch is hot, waking up each of the nerve endings in its path. He squeezes my thighs then starts trailing his fingers up again, feeling my bare skin. Up and up, his fingers reach the hem of my dress, and he inches it higher, exposing more skin. Both of his hands end up just under my ass, touching the elastic of my underwear.

Oh god. I’m so wet. Just one inch farther and he’ll be able to feel what he’s doing to me. I feel his groan rather than hear it, the vibration in his throat a pained sound. He rests his forehead against mine and closes his eyes, hands still touching me, toying with the edges of my panties.

“Can I touch you?” he rasps into my ear.

I should push him away. I should be appalled that a total stranger wants to feel me up in the middle of a crowded dance floor. I should disentangle myself from him right now and leave.

But I don’t want to.

ABOUT EASY MAGIC:

The Boudreaux Series. Sexy. Intriguing. Easy.

Family. Responsibility. Stability.

As the co-CEO of Bayou Enterprises, and the eldest of the Boudreaux clan, Beau is the epitome of these. Now that his baby sister Gabby is happily settled down, Beau has moved into the company loft in the heart of the French Quarter to be closer to his office while his own home is built. He doesn’t have time for anything but the family he adores and the company that drives him.

If only the bewitching owner of the herb shop downstairs from Beau’s loft wasn’t so damn tempting.

Mallory Adams is living the life. The good life. The best life for her. After years of hiding who she is, and the gifts she’s been cursed with, Mallory opened her little shop in the French Quarter, offering herbs and lotions for anything from soothing a sunburn to chasing those pesky ghosts New Orleans is known for out of a client’s home. Some call her eccentric, and some say she’s simply odd, and that’s okay with her. She is a bit odd, but in her experience, all of the best people are.

When an old pipe bursts in the loft above her store, flooding her storeroom, Mallory comes face to face with Beau Boudreaux, and she doesn’t need the clairvoyant abilities that have been passed down through generations to know that she’ll never be the same. Beau is her exact opposite; serious, straitlaced. He wears suits for Pete’s sake and probably wouldn’t know the difference between arnica and flaxseed if his life depended on it. But when he touches her, the electricity is through the roof and she’s smart enough to know that a chemistry like theirs doesn’t happen every day.

Can two people so very different possibly find their way to happily ever after?

Kristen Proby is a favorite of mine, because I know when I pick up a book by her, I am not going to be disappointed. I know I am going to laugh, there will be characters I enjoy, that there will be sexy times that are hot and also bond the characters and move the story forward.

Beau and Mallory, not surprisingly, did not disappoint. Beau is the straitlaced older brother, the one who feels it is his job to keep an eye on everything. This translates to his relationship with Mallory.

There are facets of Mallory that would not be easy for anyone to relate to initially, and I like that Beau accepted it, at first because you can tell he knows she believes it, and at the end, because he has seen things for himself that make him understand.

There were some parts that felt a little glossed over to me. Beau as a character, for example, seemed to really rely on the information we had about him in previous stories. This was not an issue for me, as I have read all of them so I know who he is, and a lot of the backstory, but I think this might have made it a little inaccessible for readers who may be new to the series.

Overall, this was a great addition to the Boudreaux stories. The setting in New Orleans, as always, is a love letter to a city that I adore, and that is part of the charm, that they live and work in New Orleans, and especially for this one, the setting really helped with the suspension of disbelief that may be a necessity for some readers for the psychic elements of the story.

I recommend this book.

EM Teaser 4

EXCERPT:

“I’ve always had a knack for knowing what people need,” she says softly, as if she’s choosing her words very carefully. I don’t know why that bothers me. I want her to speak her mind, to not have to censor what she says.

But this is a good start.

“In what way?”

“Maybe someone has headaches, or their feet hurt. I have essential oils and herbs that can help with those things.”

I nod.

“My grandmother taught me all about alternative medicine from the time I was a child. She wasn’t crazy with it,” she says quickly, “she still believed in western medicine as well, but why take a pain reliever full of chemicals if you can just put a drop of oil on the back of your neck to get the same result?”

She shrugs and reaches for the dessert, smiles when she opens the box, and digs in with enthusiasm.

“I thought it would be fun to open a store full of those things,” she continues. “I wanted the bottles to be pretty, and everything to be tied with a bow. I wanted a place where people enjoyed coming in, even if only to browse. It smells good, the energy is calming.”

And I realize that that’s exactly how I feel whenever I’ve been in her store.

“I’d say you’ve accomplished those things.”

“Thank you.” Her smile is huge and genuine. “That’s really the best compliment I could ever get.”

“Really?” I cock a brow and watch her lashes flutter. “I’d also say you’re stunning. I want to bury my fingers in that amazing curly hair of yours.”

There must be something in the food that’s making me speak so freely. But Mallory seems to bring out my flirty side.

I’d forgotten that I had a flirty side.

Her smile slips just a bit, and her cheeks flush, and I know she’d look just like that when I’m buried balls deep inside her.

“That’s very nice of you.”

“But not what you want to hear.”

“Well, don’t get me wrong, every woman wants to be told she’s pretty.”

“I didn’t say pretty,” I reply and lean in, resting my elbows on her desk. “’Pretty’ is too dull of a word to describe you.”

“You’re an interesting man,” she says, tilting her head to the side and studying my face with narrowed violet eyes. “You just say whatever you’re feeling.”

“Not always,” I reach out to tuck her hair behind her ear and she stiffens. I pause, keeping my eyes pinned to hers before I slowly brush just the pads of my fingertips over the outline of her ear, tucking that soft curly hair, then lowering my hand back to the desk. “But I see no reason to not be honest with you.”

“I opened this shop because I love it,” she says, her voice still soft but firm. She’s not weak in any way, and that pulls at me like a siren’s song. “I want to help people if I can, even if it’s just to moisturize their hands. And I like this building.”

“There are other streets with more foot traffic.”

“And I like where I am,” she says again. “I do well here.”

“I’m glad you do.” I nod and without giving it much thought, reach out to pull my fingertips over her hand. My eyes are watching hers as I do, and I can see the hesitation just before I touch her, and then the relief when my skin rests on hers.

She doesn’t like to be touched.

“Tell me more,” I say softly.

“That’s all there is about the store.”

“Tell me about you.”

She pulls her hand out from under mine and sits back in her chair. “I think you’d better go, before I tell you more than I want to.”

I cock a brow. “I’m a fan of honesty.”

“Good.” She nods once and begins loading the empty boxes in the trash. “I’m in favor of being honest, and in that same spirit, I’m exhausted, Beau.”

“I know. I am, too.”

But I’m not ready to say goodbye to her yet. I’m afraid that we’ll go our separate ways, and I won’t see her again.

“What are you thinking?” she asks.

“That I want to see you again.”

“You live upstairs from my shop,” she reminds me. “I don’t see how we could avoid it.”

“We avoided it for a damn long time,” I say and stand, shoving my hands in my pockets. “But I won’t make that mistake again.”

THE BANKER BY PIPER RAYNE-RELEASE BLITZ

Title: The Banker
Series: Modern Love #3
Author: Piper Rayne
Genre: Romantic Comedy
Release Date: April 5, 2017

Blurb

Who knew my brother’s friend could be Mr. Right, and not just Mr. Right Now?

My brother refused to introduce me, so I blame him. If he’d just caved, and introduced me to Jasper, I wouldn’t be in this mess. I mean, really, what’s the big deal? I’m not interested in the guy’s looks.

Oh no, I want his cold hard cash. (Be honest, you were expecting that other four letter ‘c’ word weren’t you?)

Now, before you go getting all judgy, I’m not a gold digger. I have a legitimate business opportunity for Jasper to invest in. The problem is that my stick-up-his-ass brother is embarrassed that his twin sister invents kick ass sex toys. His problem, not mine.

So, I took matters into my own hands. Defeat isn’t a word in Lennon Hart’s dictionary.

Using my stealthy P.I. moves, I narrowed my search to a time and place where I knew I could find him. It was completely innocent. A chance meeting that would give me the opportunity to pitch my business.

It wasn’t until I sat down across from the gorgeous panty soaking man in front of me, that I realized I wanted so much more than just his money. I could very well want his heart if I wasn’t careful.

Apparently my P.I. skills aren’t as stellar as I thought because Jasper had his own secret—and it changed EVERYTHING.

I happily dove into The Banker from Piper Rayne and truly enjoyed it. The pacing worked, the characters were spot on and there was another element that I loved that I won't mention because it's a spoiler for sure-which makes this book a bit tricky to review.

I loved Lennon. I really, truly did. I admired her sass, her wit and her attitude. Most of all though, I admired her heart. I think she thought she knew herself but didn't really give herself enough credit when it came to matters of the heart-so watching her grow that way was wonderful.

Jasper. Holy Jasper. He was the type of character that had me licking my lips in anticipation. I wanted to spend time with him-inside and outside of the bedroom. He had me swooning and was so damn sexy. He's definitely book boyfriend material.

The secondary characters don't overwhelm here one bit. I love authors who can seamlessly bring former characters back without overwhelming the current story. Piper Rayne definitely excels there.

There was a bit of drama here that I didn't quite see coming but I thought it resolved itself well, honestly. I can't get into it exactly because it does involve a spoiler but I think the way it was handled actually made sense.

This book was a fun, sexy read. I would definitely recommend it-and look forward to the next book from Piper Rayne.

I opened the door to the small bathroom that adjoined Dean’s bedroom and was also shared by hallway access. Steam billowed out, and it took a few seconds before I could see clearly.

Fucking hell.

Staring at me with wide blue eyes, water dripping down her shoulders from her wet hair, and nothing but a tiny, goddamned towel on, was Daisy.

“Jesus. I’m sorry. The door wasn’t locked.” I fumbled out an apology while attempting to pry my greedy eyes off her curvaceous, damp body.

Daisy swallowed, and her eyes fixed on me. Or more accurately, my lower half.

Motherfucking hell.

I was ready to get in the shower. Dean and Grace would be here soon, and the rest of the family would be gathering in the kitchen for breakfast. I walked into the bathroom in only my boxer briefs. Briefs that were now beginning to tent as I focused on the unbelievable sight in front of me.

“I locked the door that leads to the hallway. I thought I locked this one, but I guess I didn’t. I’m the one who’s sorry.” Daisy spoke to my cock, unable or unwilling to look away and not sounding the least bit sorry.

I cleared my throat, and she jumped, looking into my eyes, her face flushed and her breathing rapid.

“Well, I’ll give you your privacy.” I took a step back into my room.

“Wait,” Daisy placed her hand on my forearm, her other hand clutching the towel to her.

I stopped, and she moved closer to me until our chests were almost touching. Her smell, even freshly showered, of sugar and honey, was heady.

“I wanted to be the first to say Happy Thanksgiving. I’m so glad you’ll be here today.” Daisy’s voice was whisper soft. “And I just have to say that your body is so gorgeous, Jon. I thought you should know–”

I stopped her words with my mouth, kissing her hard, my hands cupping her face, my tongue meeting hers in strong, desperate thrusts. A grunt escaped, one that sounded needy and frustrated and full of want. As she registered the sound, she pressed her body against mine, her hands on my chest, tracing the edges of muscle, and then on my back and finally my ass.

As I reveled in her touch, something hit my feet, and I froze. As I stilled, so did Daisy. Her body was plastered to mine, but her towel was on the floor.

Jesus Christ, motherfucking hell, goddammit.

She was naked. My Daisy. My Sunshine.

Her eyes were hooded, and she licked her lips, not even attempting to pull away. My dick grew so hard it hurt, and she adjusted her hips, moving it in between her legs with a soft whimper at the sensation.

“Daisy,” I rested my forehead on hers. “We can’t do this. Your whole family is here. At home. Your parents, your brother is on his way, due here any minute.” She closed her eyes and nodded, but as she did, she rotated her hips, ever so slightly.

“But you need to know, I want you so fucking bad, I feel like tearing the bathroom apart.” My voice was rough, and she nodded, eyes still closed as she moved against me.

“Daisy,” I croaked out. “You have to go to your room. Please.” My spine tingled, and my heart raced, my entire body on fire.

She stopped, her eyes open, heavy with desire, and she took two steps back.

She took two steps back.

There weren’t any more cuss words left to say. I was speechless. She believed me. Daisy, my girl who had been picked on and ridiculed over her body, believed that I found her sexy. That I wanted her. And so she showed all of herself to me, unabashedly.
