I JUST WANT YOU BY KAYLEE RYAN-COVER REVEAL

“Go to college,” they said. “Get a good job,” they said. “It will be a piece of cake.” Well, whoever they are, they lied. Sure, college was a blast, but after college, not so much. The finding a job to go with my expensive education, that part was not so easy. At least not until I was offered a position at the new club in town.
Life is defined by the little moments that have the power to change it completely. I never thought getting a cup of coffee would change mine, but it did. She did. She’s one of those moments.
He’s my boss.
She’s my employee.
I want him.

I can’t resist her.

Kaylee Ryan has had a passion for reading since she was a little girl. That passion has slowly led to spinning romantic tales, and a one-click addiction. When she doesn’t have her nose stuck in her kindle or fingers glued to the keyboard, you can find Kaylee hanging out with friends and family. She loves all genres of music, and enjoys scrapbooking. She lives in Ohio with her husband (her real life happily ever after) and their rambunctious little boy.

THE BILLIONAIRE BEAST BY JACKIE ASHENDEN-ARC REVIEW

Dark, tortured, and intimidating, these dominant billionaires will steal their innocent heroines' breath away. Overwhelmed by their desire to control their world, they push their heroines to explore their deepest desires. But even the most unworldly of heroines can unlock these billionaires' secrets.

Nero de Santis: Damaged. Bastard. Beast.

Nero hasn’t left his house in ten years—he demands the world come to him, and the world is only too happy to bend to the strong-willed billionaire. Ruthless, cold, and selfish, Nero wants for nothing and takes care of no one but himself. His last handful of assistants have left his house in tears, but the prim redhead applying for the job looks up to the task. Nero has spent his life shut within the walls he built, with no care to have more than a window to the outside world. But the fiery passion he senses beneath his reserved assistant’s exterior makes him want to break down the barriers he lives behind, and unleash the beast within.

Phoebe Taylor: Uptight. Misunderstood. Engaged.

Phoebe needs the obscene amount of money that comes with being Nero’s personal assistant for one thing, and one thing only—to pay for the mounting hospital costs that her fiancee’s two-year coma continues to incur. She’s heard rumors that the de Santis beast is a force that cannot be tamed—but even she isn’t prepared to handle the smoldering intensity simmering beneath his hard shell of feral dominance. Nero is hiding something, something he is fighting with every step he takes. Yet he can’t help but stake his claim on this woman who has shaken up his life, and Phoebe can’t believe this animal of a man is the one person to ever look into her eyes and see her soul. Nero wants to keep her. He wants to devour her. And Phoebe just might let him.

Swerve titles are some of my favorite of all of the erotic books available.  They are fun, they are well written, and most of all they are always really, really hot.

This was no exception.  This is the second in the series, and it is also a fairy tale.  But, an erotic retelling of one (seriously, does it get better than this?).  Add in the Beauty and the Beast, and, well, this is pretty much as good as it gets.

The writing was strong, and Jackie Ashenden is quickly going on the list of one-click authors.  Books like this, and characters like Nero and Phoebe are why.  I just liked both of them, a lot.  He was such a tortured soul, and you wanted things to be better for him.  Because you like him.

I also liked Phoebe.  I thought she was compelling and interesting.  I liked who she was and I liked the way she was written...you relate to her, and you understand where she is coming from.

It's so hard to write reviews without spoilers as I don't want to ruin the fun of the book for anyone else.  But I recommend this title and look forward to the author's next book.

About Falling for the Bad Girl:

As a second generation detective, Nathan Carter is a cop, through and through, one who definitely sees things in black and white. But his work ethic—and libido—are thrown off balance when he heads up the case against jewel thief, Regan Malloy. Because with one sizzling look, she’s got him hot and hard. And he’s been that way, ever since.   Growing up, Regan’s favorite hobby was learning to crack safes, and she was very, very good at it. Still, she’d always tried to keep to the straight and narrow, and only strayed when she believed a friend was in desperate straits. Now she’s out of prison and starting over. If only she could forget that she’d spent the last three years fantasizing about the stunningly gorgeous detective who locked her away.   It’s inevitable that they meet up again—in bars, hotels…and hotel beds. Despite their differences, they can’t keep their hands off each other. Still, it’s just desire. If they give it enough time, it’ll burn itself out. Because a good boy and a bad girl can’t possibly make it work. Can they?

I'm a sucker for the bad boy falling for the good girl type story so I was definitely intrigued to try a story that reversed that usual characterization.  These characters have instant attraction.  There's no denying that-so they don't.  What starts as a sex only relationship eventually blooms into something more; something they have to decide if it's worth it to pursue.

I liked the characters well enough.  I understood Nathan's drive in his career-and his eventual dissatisfaction with that.  I understood Regan was actually a good person, trying to help others even though it cost her time away.    I bought into their attraction-you can't help but not.  The sex between them was hot enough to fuel them at first but eventually they wanted (and I did too) more from each other.

I will say I got a bit distracted at times with issues the secondary characters had.  That didn't keep from enjoying the book as a whole.  There were some parts that felt rushed to me but I think they may be addressed in future books as this is the first in a series.  Overall, I enjoyed Nathan and Regan.  This was a quick, easy read for me and I will try the next in the series.

LOVE TAKER BY ERIN MCCARTHY-ARC REVIEW

The Nashville Nights series is burning up backstage in this sensual friends-to-lovers novel featuring a good-guy cop and a woman who’s been looking for Mr. Right in all the wrong places.

Pretty-boy musicians are a fixture of the Nashville country scene—and Elle Hart, hairdresser to the stars, is beginning to think that they’re all total pricks. Elle’s dating choices have been a disaster, but at least she has Tucker. Though he’s easy on the eyes, no one would ever accuse Jason Michael Tucker of being a pretty boy. The humble and handsome sheriff's deputy from Elle’s hometown has always been there to comfort her—until the evening their friendship unexpectedly leads to the best sex Elle has ever had.

Tucker has been lusting after Elle since they were an item as teens, but he knows that their wild night of passion is a one-time thing. He’s an old friend, nothing more, and they’re too different to become a couple just because they’ve knocked boots. After all, she hates being back in their hometown, and he’s not so fond of the big city. But when Elle comes to Tucker with news that changes everything, he must help her come to grips with her traumatic past—or risk losing her forever.

This was not my favorite of the series, I must admit.

I liked Tucker and Elle, I did. And I believed they were really great friends, and I sort of believed the transition to lovers.

The issue I had with the book is a spoiler, so suffice to say I am not the biggest fan of the friends to lovers trope when they use an outside event to spur the romance. In this case, there was a history, and there was a current friendship...but when I read a romance, I want to believe that there is nothing that would have kept them apart, that they were meant to be. And, in this one, I think I left with the feeling that they would have never happened were it not for that outside event.

This feeling left me struggling with the resolution of the story. And, I think in a lot of ways, it felt like the author did as well, not being totally convinced that the story and the resolution was fully sold.

There was a rather off-putting, at least for me, declaration of love in which they make it clear to the other that they now love one another romantically and not as just friends...and I wanted to scream "show me, not tell me" and I think that sums up how I felt about the book. I was shown the relationship as friends. I was told about the relationship as lovers.

So, for me, I felt that I was left a little lacking in the romance for me to really engage with this book.

IF YOU WERE MINE BY MELANIE HARLOW-BLOG TOUR

sbpr-iywm-bt

MHIfYouWereMineBookCover5x8_BW_300.jpg

Theo MacLeod wasn’t supposed to be the one.

Tall, dark and handsome suits me just fine, but the cocky grin, know-it-all attitude, and mammoth ego? No thanks. I only hired him so I wouldn’t have to sit at the singles table again. It was just pretend.

He wasn’t supposed to kiss me.

My heart wasn’t supposed to pound.

We weren’t supposed to spend the night together—the hottest night of my life.

One night turns into a snowed-in weekend away, and even the blizzard of the century can’t cool the fire between us. I can’t get enough—of his smile, of his body, of the way he makes me feel.

We’re nothing alike. He’s a daredevil, and I’m a nervous Nellie. He’s a drifter, and I want to put down roots. He’s an opportunist with a checkered past, and I’m a Girl Scout volunteer.

But none of it matters when I’m in his arms.

I know he’s made mistakes. I know his wounds are deep, and he doesn’t trust easily. I know he doesn’t believe he could ever be enough to make me happy, but he could.

All he has to do is stay.

As you wish.

Any book with even a single reference to The Princess Bride is a winner as far as I am concerned. Add in the superb writing by Melanie Harlow, the emotions, the humor, the brilliant characters and people you like as much as you like Claire and Theo, and you get perfection.

Theo joins Levi from Some Sort of Love and Nick from Forked at the top of my favorites list of Harlow's Hot Heroes (I just made that up, but I think I am going with it). You just love him, you want him to get the more in life that he is denying himself because he doesn't think he deserves, or that he can trust it, due to his past. You feel for him, but you also feel his struggle.

Along with feeling Theo's struggle, you sympathize with Claire. She has trust issues of her own, so letting someone like Theo in, someone who believes they are destined to fail is, well, it's a jump off a ledge for her. There's no net, she is just going to have to trust him to catch her, or that life will catch her eventually, that the leap is worth it.

These were 2 people who were reluctant to take the leap into fully trusting the other person, to letting them in, to allowing them to see who they were-the good, the bad, the in-between. It was interesting to watch their journey, to see their evolution and how they ended up with their much deserved happy ending.

I loved so many little touches in this book. Their first meeting, the explanation he gives for the way he looks in the online photo, the mugs her family uses at holidays, The Princess Bride references. All of this made them into real people and not characters in a book.

As always, Melanie Harlow writes a perfectly paced story. The push and pull of the characters is enough to invest you emotionally without leaving you feeling like too much time is spent without them moving forward.

I could go on about this one, but I will leave it with saying that this book is exactly what you want it to be, from the beginning to the end.

A guy in a black leather jacket set a coffee cup down on the table and sat opposite me. I looked over at him, feeling slightly awkward since I’d have to tell him he couldn’t sit there. He was handsome, with warm brown eyes and short dark hair, but he wasn’t Fred. “I’m sorry, I’m waiting for someone,” I said. “But I can move.” To my surprise, he smiled confidently. “Claire, right? I’m Fred.” I screwed up my face. “You can’t be. Fred has blond hair and blue eyes. I saw his picture.” He laughed, almost condescendingly. “I don’t use my real picture, Claire. People are crazy.” What? This made no sense. “I don’t understand. How can you advertise yourself with someone else’s photo? Don’t women get mad when you show up?” He shrugged, his grin turning a little cocky. “Haven’t had any complaints so far.” Actually, he was more attractive than the photo he’d used online—more rugged and masculine, with his scruffy jaw, big shoulders, and brawny chest. Meeting the real Fred was kind of like ordering the chicken piccata and being brought the Porterhouse, which hadn’t even been on the menu. But that wasn’t the point. (And I’d described someone completely different to Elyse.) “So, what, you use a fake photo to lure potential clients and then you set up the coffee meeting to check them out first?” I asked indignantly. “Wouldn’t you?” He shrugged out of his jacket. “It’s a scary world out there.” I crossed my arms, sitting up tall. “No! That’s a scam. I don’t like scammers.” “No, it isn’t. I don’t take any money from them. I don’t even talk to them, I just leave.” Frowning, I said, “That doesn’t seem right to me. These people are willing to pay you to hang out with them and probably feel bad enough about themselves already, and you just walk out without even giving them a chance?” He shrugged. “Look, if it makes you feel any better, I’ve only walked off a job once, and that was because I thought I recognized the woman. I prefer to keep my personal and professional identities separate. That’s fair, isn’t it?” Professional identity? He was a rent-a-date! I shook my head in disbelief. “Is your name even Fred?” “Does it matter?” “Yes,” I snapped. “How am I supposed to know what to call you?” He grinned as he leaned toward me and lowered his voice. “Call me anything you want. You’re the boss.” Was he flirting with me or making fun of me? I cleared my throat and pressed my knees tighter together. “I’d like to call you by your actual name, please. Bad enough I have to pay someone to play my fake boyfriend. I’d like something to be real, at least.” He held his eyes steady on mine for a moment. I felt like he was sizing me up, trying to decide if he could trust me, so I stared right back without blinking. If anyone at this table was trustworthy, it was me. “Theo,” he said quietly, his eyes dropping to my lips for the merest fraction of a second. “My name is Theo.” There. Was that so hard? I smiled at him before picking up my latte.“Well, it’s nice to meet you, Theo.” “What, you’re just going to believe me? You’re much too trusting, Claire. I bet people take advantage of you.” I set the cup back down on the saucer with an angry clank. “Is your name Theo or not?” “Shhh, it is, it is,” he said, laughing. Then he glanced over his shoulder like he was in the fucking CIA. “But I don’t give that out to just anyone. You should feel special.”

AMERICAN PRINCE BY SIERRA SIMONE-EXCERPT REVEAL

SBPR-AMERICANPRINCE-ER.jpg

American Prince, the highly-anticipated follow up to American Queen by Sierra Simone is coming March 7th!!

american-prince-amazon

I’ve been many things.

I’ve been a son and a stepbrother. An Army captain and a Vice President.

But only with Him am I a prince. His little prince.

Only with Maxen and Greer does my world make sense, only between them can I find peace from the demons that haunt me. But men like me aren’t made to be happy. We don’t deserve it. And I should have known a love as sharp as ours could cut both ways.

My name is Embry Moore and I serve at the pleasure of the President of the United States…for now.

This is the story of an American Prince.

Ash opens his eyes and gives me a sleepy smile. It’s such an unfamiliar look on him, both the openness of it and the happiness, and I stare into his face, drinking it in like a man dying of thirst. After Carpathia, after Morgan, after me, after Jenny—I never could have believed that I would see Ash breathe and smile without all that torment suffocating him. Seeing it, if only for a few minutes, feels like some kind of gift, an unearned blessing. I reach out and trace his jaw, predictably already rough with stubble, and then run the pads of my fingers over his sleepy smile. “Is it morning?” he asks. My cock jumps again at the sound of his voice. It’s always a little rough around the edges, like someone took sandpaper to his words, but right after sleep, his voice is pure gravel, masculine and hungry. “Almost.” “Where is she?” She. Our Greer. Once again, I feel the hollow space in the bed where she should be, and I have a brief moment of amused anxiety, because if I can’t stand to be apart from her when she’s in the restroom, how on earth are the three of us going to survive the next two and a half years? Or shit—six and a half years if Ash gets re-elected? “She’s in the bathroom,” I say, trying to suppress this new awareness of how hard our future is going to be. “I just woke up.” Ash makes a noise in the back of his throat, and his hand moves on my stomach again. Moves down, sliding past my navel. My dick is hard now, hard and pulsing against the cool air. “I love it when you first wake up,” Ash tells me, his voice no longer sleepy but still graveled and rough. “Your eyes look darker with your pupils that wide, and your cheeks get flushed, and your body…” His wicked hand brushes over my crown, swollen and dusky in the dark. “Your body always looks so willing for whatever I want.” His hand closes over my shaft and squeezes, and I moan. “So willing,” Ash repeats in a murmur, and then I expect him to flip me over and push into me, but he doesn’t. Instead he lets go of my cock and climbs over me, lowering his heavy, hard body onto mine so that our cocks are pinned between our bare stomachs and our chests press together. His lips pass over mine, the slightest brush, and then he does it again, smiling as I tilt my face up greedily to catch his mouth in a real kiss. He teases me once or twice more, coaxing a frustrated whimper from somewhere deep inside me, and then he puts us out of our misery and lowers his mouth to mine, parting my lips with his and licking deep into my mouth. His kiss is slow, but possessive, and he drives the pace and the depth. I can barely breathe, he kisses me so deeply, but I don’t care. I don’t want to, don’t want any air that Ash himself hasn’t given me. After a few minutes of this, he pulls back slightly and then presses his forehead to mine. “Oh, Embry,” he says, his voice cracking. “How much I’ve missed you.” My chest cracks open along with his voice. “Will you ever forgive me?” I whisper. “For what?” It’s hard to speak the words, even in the dark. “For not marrying you.” His breath leaves him. “Embry…” “You can be honest with me,” I say, wanting to be his brave little prince. Just this once. “I deserve it.” His hands frame my face as he pulls back to meet my eyes. “It will always hurt, Embry. I can’t pretend that it won’t. But surely you must know by now, and I’ve told you before…I’ll take you any way I can have you. If all you’ll give me is a few stolen nights, then that’s what I’ll take.”

Liam 'Mr. Popular' Carter will always be the closest thing to the "walking plague" in my eyes. His cockiness seeps through his every move, and no matter how many state championships he wins with the basketball team, he will forever be a "loss" to me.
