FOUR DAY FLING BY EMMA HART - BLOG TOUR & ARC REVIEW

blogtour.jpg

Imagine this.

FOURDAYFLING3
You’re ready to leave after a one-night stand, and you’re figuring out how to—shock horror—leave your number and ask him to be your fake boyfriend for your sister’s wedding this weekend.

When he wakes up.

Well, that happened to me. And over coffee and omelets, I found myself a date.

Which was how I ended up arriving at the wedding with a guy I knew nothing about.

I didn’t know his last name, or how we met, or how long we’d been dating. I didn’t know where he grew up, what he’d majored in in college, or how many siblings he had.

I sure as hell didn’t know he was Adam Winters, hotshot hockey player, and not only my father’s favorite player, but my little nephew’s freakin’ idol.

Which means I’m in trouble. Big, big trouble.

My mother is suspicious, my sister is bridezilla on crack, and my grandpa will tell anyone who’ll listen about his time in Amsterdam’s Red Light District.

Four days.

I have to keep this up for four days, and then Adam and I can return to our regular lives, where we don’t have sex whenever we’re alone, and my family aren’t interrogating him over his intentions with me.

At least, that’s the plan.

And we all know what happens to those.

My family is insane. Poppy's family makes mine look normal. This in itself is impressive.

So, when she has an amazing night with Adam, it's a no-brainer that she thinks it would be easier for other one night stand to pretend to be her boyfriend than it would be to attend her sister's wedding without a date. Yes, really, staring at her sleeping one night stand is a good idea in comparison.

And, it turns out, even though there are some hurdles along the way, that inviting her one night stand to be her boyfriend is the best of all possible good ideas. They work. And, before long, it is clear that Poppy and Adam are no longer pretending, but they have the real thing.

But, their lives are complicated. Impressively, a little more complicated than pretending to be together. Watching them, and laughing (with and at them) work this all out and figure out a way to be together is a lot of fun.

Trust me, you will laugh your way through this book...and then you just might call your mom as all of a sudden her quirks don't seem all that bad.

I laughed, I loved this book, and I recommend it.

“Ready?” Adam strolled out of the bedroom, playing with the button on his shorts. “For lunch with my mother?” I turned and stared at him, expressionless. “I’m thrilled.” He laughed and adjusted the short sleeve of his white shirt. “It’s what—an hour? Then she’ll be back snapping at your sister’s ankles. Surely you can give Rosie a break for sixty whole minutes.” “Oh no. I’ve done that guilt trip my entire life. I’m not getting it from my fake boyfriend, too.” I waggled my finger at him before turning back to the mirror to finish my make-up. “And yes, I can give her a break, but it doesn’t mean I need to be happy about it.” “Do you ever get along?” “Yes. When I’m in Orlando and she’s in Key West.” “I mean when you’re together.” “In the same room together, or having a conversation together?” “Now you’re just being awkward, Red.” I brushed a final stroke of mascara over each of my eyes, then stopped, wand in hand, and met his eyes in the reflection of the mirror. “Given how you ended up here, I would have thought you knew that awkward was my default mode.” “That was cute-awkward. This is attitude-awkward.” “How do you know there’s a difference?” He pointed at himself. “Four sisters. I grew up with attitude-awkward. I could recognize it blindfolded with hands cuffed behind my back from two hundred miles away.” “Wow. Someone’s cocky.” “I thought we established that the night we met.” My cheeks flushed. Damn it. Why did I have to blush like an idiot? Oh, that’s right. I was a redhead and so pale I was a distant relative of Casper the Friendly Ghost, which meant you could see my blushing a mile off. “You’re adorable when you blush.” Adam grinned. “Thank God,” I drawled. “That was my life goal. Be adorable. Now, I can get it in neon lights over my bed.”

Meet P. Dangelico
Dangelico loves romance in all forms, cuddly creatures (four legged and two), really bloody sexy pulp, the NY Jets (although she’s reconsidering after this season), and to while away the day at the barn (apparently she does her best thinking shoveling horse crap). What she’s not enamored with is referring to herself in the third person and social media so don’t expect her to get on Twitter anytime soon. Oh, and although she was born in Italy, she’s been Jersey Strong since she turned six.

DIRTY SEXY PLAYER BY LAURELIN PAIGE-BLOG TOUR

Dirty Sexy Player by [Paige, Laurelin]

It was Donovan's idea.

I don't even know how he got me on board. Sure, I could use a break from the one-night stands and merry-go-round lovers in my bed, but I hadn't thought that putting a ring on a woman's finger was the answer.

Especially not that woman.

Elizabeth Dyson needs to marry to get access to her father's company and take over as president. If I take on the role of groom, she'll hand over her advertising subsidiary to Reach Inc. the firm I own with Donovan, my supposed best friend.

Problem is that, even though the girl is confident and sexy and brilliant, she doesn't know the first thing about running an empire. And she's awfully particular about the wedding plans, even though it's a FAKE wedding, for all intents and purposes. And we can't seem to spend more than five minutes together without wanting to tear each other's hair out.

Worst of all, I can't stop imagining what it would be like to kiss her.

And soon I'm unsure how much of this business arrangement is just play and how much of it is real.

Well then.

That cliffhanger sucked. More than a little. And, more than usual. I think.

Elizabeth and Weston. For a couple of people who only were involved in a marriage of convenience, you guys really turned that into something real.

And lasting. And a love that you can build a lifetime of moments with, as it is real.

Communication, however, isn't working out for you all that well. You aren't on the same page in the romance, at the beginning or at the end of the cliffhanger. And, that, I think, is going to be what really causes you all the problems in the next book.

Cliffhangers come in 2 types; the ones where external forces act against the happiness of the couple and ones where it is the couple themselves, internally, who cause the reason that the relationship seems destined to not make it into book 2. I am not going to tell you which one we have here, but I will say it is my favorite kind of cliffhanger. If that's even a thing. "Favorite cliffhanger" isn't the easiest phrase to write, I admit.

Laurelin Paige likes to torture her readers. And, I am guessing if you ask her, she will admit it. And, torture us she does in this one. By the end of the book, you are so invested in this relationship and you want it to be so much more than a means to a business end, that you forget, just for a second, that these are 2 people willing to fake a marriage in order to achieve business results. And, that drive and determination doesn't just go away.

Did I love this book? Of course I did. It's well written, sexy (sometimes scorchingly so) and about 2 people that you genuinely like. What is there not to like about this book? Well...there is that cliffhanger. But, Laurelin always delivers in her books, so cliffhanger or not, I know the book is going to be worth it.

Some authors if you know the book is a duet, you find yourself tempted to wait until both parts are out so you can read them together. And, I get it...but, really, you can wait months KNOWING there are new words by Laurelin Paige that you haven't read? This isn't something I can do...and, cliffhanger or not, this book is worth reading the second you can get your hands on it!

So let it be said that I HATE cliffhangers. They are just so not my cup of tea. That being said...when certain authors release duets or trilogies-books that I know will have a cliffhanger-I know I'm going to bite the bullet and read the book as soon as I can instead of waiting for them all to be released. Laurelin Paige is one of those authors-and boy did she not disappoint here.

I've been intrigued by the character of Weston since reading Dirty Filthy Rich Men. I found him to be quite intriguing and just wanted more. Well, I definitely got more with this book and guess what? I'm still not satisfied LOL. I mean, I am so enamored with him. He's a player for sure, with no intentions of settling down but when you suggest something to do with his company...well, that changes things.

Elizabeth. Sharp, smart and savvy. I really enjoyed getting to know her. She has spunk, which you have to have in order to deal with a man like Weston.

Now the way these two spark off each other was seriously electrifying. Things that were supposed to be fake were suddenly real...and steamy as hell. I swear-I'm glad I have a few ways to read e-books because this scorched my kindle.

The pacing of this book was great. I was hooked from the first line and didn't want to stop. If you've read the Dirty Filthy Rich books you'll know a little about these characters. If you haven't, that's ok....I'm sure you will after reading this.

So as I've mentioned, this is a duet...which means there's a cliffhanger for sure. It's a doozy of one and I seriously kept trying to turn the page on my kindle hoping for just one more sentence. I can't wait for the second book to come out. I absolutely highly recommend this book.

PLAYING HURT BY KELLY JAMIESON - ARC REVIEW

He’s playing hurt. She’s laying low. And they’re both flirting with disaster.

“Kelly Jamieson is my go-to author for hockey romance.”—Jami Davenport

Chase: The last thing I’d ever want to do is let my team down. After overcoming my bad-boy reputation, I was dominating on the ice. But things aren’t going so well this season, and even my parents think I’m partying again. Now I’m really worried about my career. The only bright spot in my life is the Twitter flirtation I’ve struck up with pop princess Jordyn Banks. Turns out she’s a huge hockey fan—and she’s willing to wager a date on her favorite team. . . .

Jordyn: Even though I’m an L.A. fan now, I’ve always had a soft spot for the Aces, since I grew up in Chicago. Then I lose a bet to Chase Hartman, and suddenly I’m up close and personal with a pro athlete who’s anything but soft. Not only is Chase the hottest guy I’ve ever met, he’s secretly super sweet. As if I had time for a relationship . . . yeah, right. But when I suddenly have nothing but time on my hands, he’s the only one who understands. Now, with both of our careers at stake, Chase is tempting me to put my heart on the line too.

I loved the idea of 2 people, both at what should be the top of their games, and both dealing with the little imperfections and challenges that life throws at you...and learning to live when those challenges are thrown at you, and balance a career and a relationship.

A bet, a single date, a conversation on Twitter...that turns into so much more, but with 2 people who live in different worlds and on different sides of the country.

How do they work it out?  I think, and this is what I really liked about this story, is it is about people who are more alike than different.  About 2 people who have the same fears of their success and what losing it might mean, so when they are faced with choices, it brings them closer...even when it seems to pull them apart.

I enjoy stories when I am pulling for the characters while wondering how they are ever going to make it work.  This was one of those stories, and I recommend it.
