APPROACHING THE BENCH BY CHANTAL FERNANDO - ARC REVIEW

A tenacious, resilient female judge must find a way to work with her carefree clerk as they find themselves in danger when a fugitive sets his sights on revenge in the third book in New York Times bestselling author Chantal Fernando’s sexy and thrilling Conflict of Interest Series.

Trinity Williams, known as “Medusa” for her stony expressions and unyielding reputation, constantly has her guard up—how else is the youngest female judge in the country supposed to survive in such a male-dominated profession? She made the decision long ago that laughter and a carefree attitude have no business in a courtroom and achieving her professional goals is the only thing she has left. It’s just her luck that her new law clerk, Callum Hopkins, believes the exact opposite.

Callum Hopkins thinks that nothing should ever be too serious in life—why can’t he mix business with pleasure? When he first starts working for his hot new boss, they clash at every turn. He makes it his mission to get Judge Williams to see things his way for once.

But when Callum finds himself in the wrong place at the wrong time as an escaped convict comes after Trinity, he realizes it’s not all fun and games anymore. Now in witness protection together until the authorities can catch the fugitive, this unlikely pair must learn to trust one another and work together to stay alive. Far away from the courtroom, Trinity and Callum are suddenly free to stop butting heads, and stop fighting the growing attraction between them.

With suspense and plenty of chemistry, Approaching the Bench proves once again that “Chantal Fernando knows how to draw you in and keep you hooked”

I enjoyed this title. It was actually shorter, and a little lighter than I was expecting.

Trinity and Callum are judge and law clerk. She is by the book, a little cold, and not interested in her younger law clerk, even if he is her type. Callum is younger, just out of school, and more than a little interested in seeing what is behind the facade of his boss.

But, she is not going there with him, no matter how much she wants to...until he saves her life. I liked this twist, and the way it moved the story. I liked that we didn't spend the entire book in a judge's chambers watching 2 people flirt over their lunch and coffee orders.

As I mentioned, this book had a lighter feel to it than the previous books in the series, which was interesting and gave it a difference that I enjoyed.

The writing was strong and flowed smoothly and in such a way that I believed I was reading about real people.

I enjoyed this title, I recommend it, and I am looking forward to the next one!

POISON KISSES: PART 3 BY LISA RENEE JONES - ARC REVIEW

Those you love, know how to hurt you. Those you love, know what to hide, because they know what is unforgivable to you. Now that I know what Seth hid from me, I want the secret to be the lie. I don't want to kill him. I don't want to leave him. I guess that's why they say there is a fine line between love and hate. I love and hate that man with such passion, that it damn near hurts. But now, as we face down our shared enemies, as we are lead right back to an explosive discovery about my family, and to the night Seth and I parted ways, we will both be exposed in every way. And it's time for me to decide if I plan to love Seth Cage for the rest of my life, or kill him, before he kills me.

Well, hello Amanda's POV.

I really enjoyed getting the details of what happened from Amanda. It gave a different angle to the story as well as a different perspective on what happened, not only in the present, but 3 years ago.

Again, this starts about 4 seconds after the previous title ends, and with a little sum up of the previous book, by the author. I love that Lisa Renee Jones does this. Not because I wasn't paying attention to the others, but because I might have not put enough importance on an event that the author wants me to have noticed, and this is the perfect chance to make sure I am on the same page going in.

I enjoyed this title, the twists and the turns, as well as the ending which I thought was both satisfying and realistic.

I enjoyed all 3 of these books, the plot was fun, and interesting and I had a great time reading them...even if reviewing them is not the easiest thing to do for all the spoilers.

POISON KISSES: PART 2 BY LISA RENEE JONES - ARC REVIEW

I loved her. She left me. She betrayed me but now it's time to open the closed doors. I'll tell her my secret if she tells me hers. Our history, is more than lies. It's our story, and I will do whatever it takes to reveal it all. I'm the Assassin, She's The Poison Princess. We're going to kill the bad guys, but we're still deciding if we're enemies. The one thing for certain, is we're both going to strip down and get bare.

As stated at the beginning, in the incredibly helpful "what happened in the last one" section, this takes place immediately after the end of the previous book.

Seth and Amanda, at this point, we know they have a history and that he is planning to kill her, if she doesn't kill him first.  He's the Assassin, she's the Poison Princess, and there are things they think they know about one another.  And there are things they believe that are wrong.

I loved this book.  I liked that it gave a little more of their history while giving more of the what is happening in the present.  I liked the idea that these are 2 people who love each other...while believing it is possible that they may have to kill the other...or fend of an attack from the other.  Talk about relationship stress...most of us just fight about dinner.

Again, Lisa Renee Jones writes a story that is engaging.  As this is the middle of the trilogy, there are still things that are left unresolved when we get to the end of this book....

SORDID BY AVA HARRISON - RELEASE TOUR AND ARC REVIEW

It was his lips.
The way his stare sent shivers down my spine.
The way his rough voice whispered my name.
So I caved.
I did what I knew I shouldn’t.
But as quickly as he’s there, he’s gone.
Leaving me confused.
Devastated.
I hope I’ll never see him again…
Then I do.
He’s my new boss.
And he has secrets.

Well, darn it.  I read a good book, and I want to tell you all about, well, all the things.  Especially the part where (spoiler) and (spoiler) happened.  And, you know how it says in the blurb that Grant has secrets?  Well, he does...and one of them...spoiler.

Are you catching on yet?  I want to talk about how much I enjoyed this book.  And, I did love it.  But I also want to tell you why.  And, I can't because it would be a spoiler and I would ruin the fun for you.  And, that is mean.

So, what can I tell you?  I can tell you that Grant is absolutely the jerk you expect him to be, if you have read the first books...or if you just know him from the first meeting he has with Bridget.  He's selfish, or at least that is how it seems when you watch the choices he makes and the way he treats people.

You want better for Bridget.  But, Bridget wants Grant, so you find yourself thinking that maybe he isn't awful.  But then...then....there's that one thing that really makes you think that your original opinion of him might be right after all.

One of the things I loved about this is the fact that there is a taboo element to it...and the author doesn't shy away.  There are reasons, and justifications, but that taboo element is there.  It's real.  And, it's a thing.

The story is constructed well, and you are both frustrated and sympathetic toward Grant and you like Bridget.  It's a credit to the author in this case that you like Grant as much as you do, as he is definitely not perfect.

But, those stories about the flawed hero that you love anyway?  Aren't those some of the best possible romances of all?
