I didn’t set out to be a pirate.

Life for me was about surviving the ugliness that people knew existed but didn’t talk about.

I lived in hell.

Then I saw her.

I knew I couldn’t keep her, but for just a little while I had found heaven.

Eight years later, I can’t get her out of my head. It is a mistake sailing to her island.

It is a mistake reaching out to her.

She doesn’t recognize me.

Or maybe she does.

Closure, it is all I’m after.

Then my past comes back to haunt me.

She’s thrust into my ruthless world.

An angel.

A romantic who has a journal that leads to a shipwreck and a lost treasure.

She wants to find the ending to a love story that is over two hundred years in the making.

I want to help her find it.I didn’t set out to be a pirate.

I didn’t set out to fall in love with an angel.

I did both anyway.

Spoilers are mean, awful, nasty little things. And, I hate them. Unfortunately, to really be able to fully review this title, they would be necessary...and I am just not going to go there, so this is going to be a vague review.

Kace is wonderful. He is compelling, interesting, and has one of the best and most developed characters backstories that I have ever read. It is the perfection of this story that makes him incredibly compelling and allows the reader to understand why Willow is so drawn to him, why the attraction is instant, and why it lingers even years later.

There are moments where you heart jumps; there are moments that make you absolutely unwilling to put the book down; there is an ending that is absolutely perfect, both for the book and for the characters.

The writing in Elusive is dynamic, it pulls you into the story, and it keeps you there. Are there areas where you have to suspend disbelief a little bit? Of course there are, because it is a pirate book. And, we all read books about pirates because, well, they are pirates. And, they are over the top, and kind of grouchy, and tough to get to know, and a little difficult...which also makes them men. :)

The bottom line is that this is a well written, well paced and perfectly developed book.

I definitely recommend this title.

So I have a secret. Until this year I had never read a pirate book. Gasp! I don't know what held me back, but based on a recommendation from my blog partner I decided to give them a shot-and spoiler, I really like them! Now, that's the last spoiler you'll see in this review.

I loved this story. Literally from the first page I was hooked. Now, I have to be vague because to be anything other than that would mean my review would have spoilers-and nobody likes a review with spoilers. So here's what I *can* tell you.

This book was incredibly well written. The pacing of the story worked. You FEEL for these characters. I understood their struggles, their hurts and why they are the people they are. I liked these characters as individuals, I felt their spark. I wanted them to find their happiness, and wasn't disappointed in the resolution they came to at all.

The supporting characters in here definitely had me intrigued. They didn't overshadow our main couple at all, they simply enhanced the story AND left me wanting more of them at the same time. I can't wait to see where the author takes this supporting cast! I've decided to adopt Willow's grandfather's advice about being happy and I'm sure you will too after reading this book.

There's romance here, there's mystery, intrigue, and pirates. A pirate that had me head over heels in love-which is definitely a sentence I never imagined writing. I loved this plot, I loved how well it was executed. This is absolutely a book I recommend and I look forward to the next book from this author!

SWINK BY ADRIANA LOCKE-RELEASE BLITZ

Title: Swink
Series: Landry Family #5
Author: Adriana Locke
Genre: A Standalone Bad Boy/Good Girl Romance
Release Date: July 21, 2017

Blurb

I’m that guy.

Camilla Landry rustles against me, the silky fabric of her overpriced lingerie slipping along my bruised rib. The porcelain perfection of her skin is even more innocent against the colorful ink dotting my own. It’s demure meets damage, pampered meets punctured.

So, yeah, it’s obvious I’m that guy. Dominic Hughes. Her attempt at rebellion. Her bid to see what the other side of the tracks feel like. I’m okay with being used because, from where I’m sitting, the other side of the tracks have never looked so good.

Adriana Locke has knocked this one out of the park for me. I've been a fan of her work, and love, love, love the Landry men but this book? Wow. This is hands down my favorite work of hers to date. It has heart, passion, sweetness and toughness. And that's just Dom.

Camilla Landry is the baby of her family and is treated like a princess by them. Her family fails to recognize that she's a grown woman, with thoughts and ideas of her own. She's let them keep her in a little tidy box and she is more than ready to be out of that box and standing on her own two feet. Watching her grow and assert herself was fun. She had me applauding and cheering for her several times throughout the book.

Dom? Oh, my Dom. I mean that. I've claimed him, everyone else can pretend they have but I'm telling you here and now Dom is mine. He is such an alpha male who covers up this huge heart. You can't help but fall in love with him and I didn't even bother trying to stop it. He's so protective of those that he loves, even if he doesn't realize he's doing it out of love. He has some growing pains to go through in this book. He steals the show for me a bit, just a tiny bit, with his journey into accepting himself for who he truly is.

These two together are just hot. Hot, sexy and sometimes sweet. They have this great banter between them outside of the bedroom. So witty and sharp. Did they have their share of obstacles? Yes. There was one in particular that drove me crazy, even though I completely understood the reasoning. I was still frustrated but loved the resolution and HOW it was handled.

The supporting cast of characters were a hoot as always. If you haven't read any of the other Landry books I encourage you to go back and start at the beginning. It isn't necessary, Swink can be read as a standalone, I just love the Landry family so I'll take any chance I have to recommend reading them. The writing flowed incredibly well and the pacing was spot on.

This book is one that will stick with me. This was a great blend of humor, heart and heat. I definitely recommend this book.

Excerpt

He’s standing in the doorway, one hand on the sweatpants that hang just below his chiseled hips and the other leans on the frame. The tattoos that mark his flesh are vivid against his bare skin, making the blues of his eyes shine.
He flashes a lopsided smile my way. “Took you long enough.”
“I don’t drive like a bat out of hell,” I laugh, stepping past him. “Did you shower already?”
“Yeah. I smelled like gym floors.”
“As long as you don’t smell like gym whores,” I say, setting the bags on the table in the kitchen.
His laugh is contagious and I feel myself smiling. A set of arms cage me in from behind, grasping the table on both sides of me. My skin breaks out in a shiver as his lips find the sensitive spot behind my ear.
His face buries in the crook of my neck and he takes a long, leisurely breath. “You smell so good.”
“Keep doing that,” I say, relaxing my head onto his chest.
“What?”
“Talking with your mouth against me.”
“You like this?” he asks all breathily so that each word whispers across my skin.
My eyes fall closed as I relish in this moment of nothing but him. “No, I love this.”
“Can I tell you a little secret?”
“As long as you keep talking, you can tell me whatever you want.”
He chuckles, dotting kisses up and down my neck. “I love this too, feeling your body give up the fight of the day and let me take over.” He turns me in his arms so I’m facing him. “I love that you trust me enough to let your shoulders sink out of that perfect posture you walk around with.”
As he reaches up and undoes the elastic in my hair, I watch his features soften. He moves carefully, unwrapping the tie from the twisted mess in my locks, careful not to pull.
“There,” he says, cupping the back of my head through my long tresses, “that’s better.”
“You don’t like my hair up?”
“Not like you had it. You look to lunching-y,” he says, wrinkling his nose.
“Lunching-y?”
“Yes,” he grins.
“You are too cute.”
“You are too fucking sexy.”
Reaching up, I swipe the pad of my thumb over the cut above his eye. He flinches, but just for a second. “What happened?”
“Bond’s right hand.”
“I hate him.”
“So do I,” he snickers.
“Let’s get some ice for it.”
He leans in, his brows tugging together. “Let’s not.” His eyes hood as he takes me in, his tongue darting out and wetting his lips. My knees weaken, my body humming with delight at his reaction.
“I want to take care of you,” I whisper, although that’s really on the backburner now. “Let me baby you.”
Instead, he lifts me up and places me on the table. My stomach clenches as he positions himself between my thighs, my sundress curling at my waist. I ring my legs around him, pulling him so close that the soft cotton of his sweatpants rubs against my opening.
He looks down. “You aren’t wearing panties.”
