You Loved Me Once by Corinne Michaels - ARC Review and Release Blitz

I'm losing myself trying to save everyone else...

From New York Times Bestselling author Corinne Michaels comes a heartbreakingly beautiful standalone story about letting love in.

I'm losing myself trying to save everyone else...

As a doctor, I walk a dangerously delicate balance of being compassionate but not overly invested. The same is true in my personal life--love is a luxury I can't afford.

It isn't until Dr. Westin Grant breaks down all my walls and offers me a future, I find myself wondering if I'm brave enough to risk my heart.

When who I was and who I've tried to become collide during my clinical trial, the fate of one patient changes everything.

In a single moment, everything I've worked for is jeopardized. My integrity, my career, and even my relationship with Westin.

He loved me once, I just hope he can love me always ...

This book made me cry.

You hear that, Corinne Michaels; you made me cry.

And not at someone dying, or at the sadness of a scene, or at the other predictable moments in a book, but during a scene in which Westin shows Serenity that he loves her. The real her. Not who she thinks she is, or who she thinks she should be, but the real her who is flawed, and makes mistakes, and bad decisions and sometimes just needs someone to love her enough not only to see her for who she is, but to also rescue her, in the small ways that loved ones do, from herself.

This is different than a "typical" romance as when we meet Serenity and Westin, they are already involved and have been for a while, although Westin is more invested in the relationship and Serenity is trying to figure out what she wants, while struggling with how much she wants out of her relationship with Westin.

And, then, things happen at work and those things, as they often do, cross over into the personal. There are misunderstandings and people telling her not to tell them things because they are afraid of the answer, not knowing what they thing is happening couldn't be farther from the truth.

Big, spoilerey things happen, that not only make Serenity see things differently, but also question those beliefs and life choices that she thought she had completely figured out.

It's impossible to talk about all of the moments that grabbed me in this, as I would end up giving you the plot of the book and all of the big moments, which is not fun at all.

So, I am going to say this is one of the best books that Corinne Michaels has ever written and, by the end of it, you are going to want to read it again and the meaning of the title will give you goosebumps.

I enjoyed and recommend this title.
