A Duchess by Midnight by Charis Michaels - ARC Review

Charis Michaels will make you believe in fairy tales.-- #1 New York Times bestselling author Julia Quinn

USA Today bestselling author Charis Michaels concludes her Awakened by a Kiss series with another enchanting romance, this time telling the real story of Cinderella's stepsister and the man who can't help falling in love with her.

A Former Ugly Duckling...

Miss Drewsmina "Drew" Trelayne is a former awkward child and one-time wicked stepsister. Raised by a bitter, overbearing mother, Drew is all grown up and has made peace with her orange hair and bean-pole height. Her transformation has inspired her dream of opening a finishing school that emphasizes inner beauty, capability, and confidence. But launching a school costs money so Drew must begin with private clients who pay well and don't ask many questions.

A Reclusive Duke...

Ian Clayblack, the Duke of Lachlan, lives alone on his Dorset estate, forced by scandal into a smuggler's life. When his estranged sister arrives with her two daughters, he feels obligated to give the girls a proper Season. Venturing back to society could clear his name and provide his vagabond nieces with a better life. Who better to help than the striking Miss Trelayne?

A Midnight Kiss...

Affording Drew's services isn't a problem for Lachlan, but his growing desire for her is. As his nieces warm to her gentle charm, he is overwhelmed by her unique beauty and open manner. When they're caught in a scandalous embrace, nothing short of marriage will save all of them from further scandal.

Can a marriage made in haste be love's saving grace?

Be With Me by Samantha Young- Release Blitz & ARC Review

A best friends to lovers story set against the atmospheric backdrop of the Scottish Highlands.

Be With Me by Samantha Young is now live!

It was the friends-with-benefits proposition he never saw coming...

While Arran Adair might have followed the call of wanderlust in his younger years, it isn't the reason he stayed away from Ardnoch. Home now, desperate to put the sins of his past behind him, and rebuild his life in the Scottish Highlands, Arran could never have predicted Eredine Willows. The Ardnoch Estate Pilates instructor is a complicated mystery and one Arran can't help but want to solve.

Eredine has spent the last eight years hiding in Scotland and building walls between her and the people she cares about. Arran is the first Adair who doesn't treat her as if she's fragile and demands a genuine friendship. Yet, the attraction sizzling between them is undeniable. So when she realizes she trusts him, Eredine surprises them both by offering Arran one night of no-strings passion.

Arran knows one night will inevitably lead to a desire for more and he's willing to stay by Eredine's side for as long as it takes to convince her there's something real between them. However, just when Arran thinks they might build a future together, Eredine's past returns to stalk her. And Arran won't just have to battle her demons to keep them together. He'll need to battle his own.

This one was as good as I wanted it to be, and that is always the best place to be in when it comes to a good book.

Eredine and Arran are one of those couples that you just want to see together from the beginning of the story.  I liked both of them as people, and I found myself wanting them to be happy, and able to find their happiness together...which is what a good romance book is at it's core.

And this is a good one.  It is part of a series, but it also works well as a standalone, as you don't need to know all of the stories about the other characters in order to feel invested in this one.  Although, I definitely recommend reading them, as all of the titles in this series are excellent.

I enjoyed and recommend this title.

Love Lessons by Sarina Bowen - Release Blitz & ARC Review

He needs an image makeover, she needs a mojo upgrade. A new lessons-in-seduction hockey romance from Wall Street Journal bestselling author Sarina Bowen.

After I’m arrested for throwing a raucous party, my hockey team says I have an image problem. And I need to fix it, stat.

Charity work? Check. Haircut? Sure. But I draw the line at hiring my neighbor to style me. In the first place “style” shouldn’t be a verb. And I’m tired of people who’d judge me on appearances.

Vera and I don’t see eye to eye on anything. She wants me to try on clothes, while I just want to remove hers. She's distractingly pretty, with soulful eyes and a sinful mouth that likes to argue with me.

But when management threatens my summer vacation, I grudgingly agree to Vera’s unusual proposal: she’ll give me an image makeover. But in return, she wants lessons in the art of seduction.

It sounds a little nutty, but I know a good opening when I hear it. Besides, it’s not like I’ll ever fall for her…

First, let me say, I love books where the hero is named Ian. No idea why, but that and the fact that this one was a Sarina Bowen title, and I was in.

Ian and Vera are complete opposites. She is all about image, it's what her job literally is, and Ian...well...isn't. which, ironically, is one of his main problems, although even he doesn't know why it's as big an issue to the team as it is.

Vera, well, she has no interest in anything to do with Ian...but, she feels just a little guilty about something she did and the result of her actions on him. I loved this. I loved her reaction to it. And, I thought it felt really real, like something that a person would do, and then feel bad about later. And, this is how I felt the entire book...like I was reading about people, and their reactions, and their real reactions to things happening to them.

Romance is predictable. You know what is going to happen, you know how it's going to end. What you don't know is how the author is going to get the reader (and their characters) there and Sarina Bowen is one of those authors who always deliver a ride worth reading.

I enjoyed and recommend this title.

The Scandal by Kristen Proby - Release Blitz & ARC Review

The Scandal is an all-new marriage of convenience, age-gap novel set in the Single in Seattle Series, featuring Stella McKenna

Who knew that weddings in Vegas were the real deal? I certainly didn't when I agreed to marry my co-worker while on a bender in Sin City. Now, I need a quick annulment, which means I need an attorney, STAT.

Honestly, with a name like Grayson Sterling, Esquire, I expected an old man in a three-piece suit. But the guy behind the desk is anything but stuffy and old. Tall and sexy with tattoos and striking blue eyes, I simply can't take my eyes off him, and I have no intention of declining his offer of a date...and more. So much more!

The conversation between us is good, and the man should win awards for his bedroom escapades. I find myself trusting him in ways I never thought I would--until he breaks that trust.

Gray insists he can fix it.

He claims he loves me.

But I don't know if we can survive this.

Returning Home by Kelly Elliott - Blog Tour & ARC Review

Returning Home by Kelly Elliott is now live!

Buzz Bait

Seasiders,

News on the docks is Adelaide Bradley is back in Seaside, and rumor has it she's here to stay! (No ring was spotted on her finger, I might add!) After eight long years of living in the big city and working for Massachusetts General, she has decided to return to the shores. One can only imagine how thrilled Barbara and Keegan are to have their oldest daughter back.

But it makes you wonder if Adelaide will continue to peruse her nursing career or is she here to help at her family's restaurant, The Seaside Grill.

A little seagull has planted in my ear that Gannon Wilson is taking the news rather well, considering Adelaide broke his heart all those years ago. I did notice Gannon has been working more than usual, piloting that precious cargo through our ship channel. Maybe he is picking up extra hours to purchase a piece of jewelry, considering he was seen in Reef Jewelers only days ago.

We're rooting for the two of them to reunite at least as friends. Everyone knows the former homecoming king and queen had a bright future ahead of them until...well...that's another story for another issue, Seasiders!

Fair winds and following seas!

Addie and Gannon are a second chance romance that are really a foregone conclusion. Both of them want to be together, and both of them are fully aware that the only thing keeping them apart is geography.

So, once Addie moves back to town, they pretty much pick up where they left off. There was something great about this, and also it did feel that it took away some of the intensity of them getting back together. Not in a way that made me lose interest in the title, but some of the romance was lost at the beginning.

That said, this book was more about watching their relationship grow and develop, which I did enjoy and it felt a little different.

I enjoyed and recommend this title.
