DIRTY SEXY PLAYER BY LAURELIN PAIGE-BLOG TOUR

Dirty Sexy Player by [Paige, Laurelin]

It was Donovan's idea.

I don't even know how he got me on board. Sure, I could use a break from the one-night stands and merry-go-round lovers in my bed, but I hadn't thought that putting a ring on a woman's finger was the answer.

Especially not that woman.

Elizabeth Dyson needs to marry to get access to her father's company and take over as president. If I take on the role of groom, she'll hand over her advertising subsidiary to Reach Inc. the firm I own with Donovan, my supposed best friend.

Problem is that, even though the girl is confident and sexy and brilliant, she doesn't know the first thing about running an empire. And she's awfully particular about the wedding plans, even though it's a FAKE wedding, for all intents and purposes. And we can't seem to spend more than five minutes together without wanting to tear each other's hair out.

Worst of all, I can't stop imagining what it would be like to kiss her.

And soon I'm unsure how much of this business arrangement is just play and how much of it is real.

Well then.

That cliffhanger sucked. More than a little. And, more than usual. I think.

Elizabeth and Weston. For a couple of people who only were involved in a marriage of convenience, you guys really turned that into something real.

And lasting. And a love that you can build a lifetime of moments with, as it is real.

Communication, however, isn't working out for you all that well. You aren't on the same page in the romance, at the beginning or at the end of the cliffhanger. And, that, I think, is going to be what really causes you all the problems in the next book.

Cliffhangers come in 2 types; the ones where external forces act against the happiness of the couple and ones where it is the couple themselves, internally, who cause the reason that the relationship seems destined to not make it into book 2. I am not going to tell you which one we have here, but I will say it is my favorite kind of cliffhanger. If that's even a thing. "Favorite cliffhanger" isn't the easiest phrase to write, I admit.

Laurelin Paige likes to torture her readers. And, I am guessing if you ask her, she will admit it. And, torture us she does in this one. By the end of the book, you are so invested in this relationship and you want it to be so much more than a means to a business end, that you forget, just for a second, that these are 2 people willing to fake a marriage in order to achieve business results. And, that drive and determination doesn't just go away.

Did I love this book? Of course I did. It's well written, sexy (sometimes scorchingly so) and about 2 people that you genuinely like. What is there not to like about this book? Well...there is that cliffhanger. But, Laurelin always delivers in her books, so cliffhanger or not, I know the book is going to be worth it.

Some authors if you know the book is a duet, you find yourself tempted to wait until both parts are out so you can read them together. And, I get it...but, really, you can wait months KNOWING there are new words by Laurelin Paige that you haven't read? This isn't something I can do...and, cliffhanger or not, this book is worth reading the second you can get your hands on it!

So let it be said that I HATE cliffhangers. They are just so not my cup of tea. That being said...when certain authors release duets or trilogies-books that I know will have a cliffhanger-I know I'm going to bite the bullet and read the book as soon as I can instead of waiting for them all to be released. Laurelin Paige is one of those authors-and boy did she not disappoint here.

I've been intrigued by the character of Weston since reading Dirty Filthy Rich Men. I found him to be quite intriguing and just wanted more. Well, I definitely got more with this book and guess what? I'm still not satisfied LOL. I mean, I am so enamored with him. He's a player for sure, with no intentions of settling down but when you suggest something to do with his company...well, that changes things.

Elizabeth. Sharp, smart and savvy. I really enjoyed getting to know her. She has spunk, which you have to have in order to deal with a man like Weston.

Now the way these two spark off each other was seriously electrifying. Things that were supposed to be fake were suddenly real...and steamy as hell. I swear-I'm glad I have a few ways to read e-books because this scorched my kindle.

The pacing of this book was great. I was hooked from the first line and didn't want to stop. If you've read the Dirty Filthy Rich books you'll know a little about these characters. If you haven't, that's ok....I'm sure you will after reading this.

So as I've mentioned, this is a duet...which means there's a cliffhanger for sure. It's a doozy of one and I seriously kept trying to turn the page on my kindle hoping for just one more sentence. I can't wait for the second book to come out. I absolutely highly recommend this book.

FOUR DAY FLING BY EMMA HART - RELEASE BLITZ

FOURDAYFLING-banner1live.jpg

Imagine this.
FOURDAYFLING3.jpgYou’re ready to leave after a one-night stand, and you’re figuring out how to—shock horror—leave your number and ask him to be your fake boyfriend for your sister’s wedding this weekend.
When he wakes up.
Well, that happened to me. And over coffee and omelets, I found myself a date.
Which was how I ended up arriving at the wedding with a guy I knew nothing about.
I didn’t know his last name, or how we met, or how long we’d been dating. I didn’t know where he grew up, what he’d majored in in college, or how many siblings he had.
I sure as hell didn’t know he was Adam Winters, hotshot hockey player, and not only my father’s favorite player, but my little nephew’s freakin’ idol.
Which means I’m in trouble. Big, big trouble.
My mother is suspicious, my sister is bridezilla on crack, and my grandpa will tell anyone who’ll listen about his time in Amsterdam’s Red Light District.
Four days.
I have to keep this up for four days, and then Adam and I can return to our regular lives, where we don’t have sex whenever we’re alone, and my family aren’t interrogating him over his intentions with me.
At least, that’s the plan.
And we all know what happens to those.

PLAYING HURT BY KELLY JAMIESON - ARC REVIEW

He’s playing hurt. She’s laying low. And they’re both flirting with disaster.

“Kelly Jamieson is my go-to author for hockey romance.”—Jami Davenport

Chase: The last thing I’d ever want to do is let my team down. After overcoming my bad-boy reputation, I was dominating on the ice. But things aren’t going so well this season, and even my parents think I’m partying again. Now I’m really worried about my career. The only bright spot in my life is the Twitter flirtation I’ve struck up with pop princess Jordyn Banks. Turns out she’s a huge hockey fan—and she’s willing to wager a date on her favorite team. . . .

Jordyn: Even though I’m an L.A. fan now, I’ve always had a soft spot for the Aces, since I grew up in Chicago. Then I lose a bet to Chase Hartman, and suddenly I’m up close and personal with a pro athlete who’s anything but soft. Not only is Chase the hottest guy I’ve ever met, he’s secretly super sweet. As if I had time for a relationship . . . yeah, right. But when I suddenly have nothing but time on my hands, he’s the only one who understands. Now, with both of our careers at stake, Chase is tempting me to put my heart on the line too.

I loved the idea of 2 people, both at what should be the top of their games, and both dealing with the little imperfections and challenges that life throws at you...and learning to live when those challenges are thrown at you, and balance a career and a relationship.

A bet, a single date, a conversation on Twitter...that turns into so much more, but with 2 people who live in different worlds and on different sides of the country.

How do they work it out?  I think, and this is what I really liked about this story, is it is about people who are more alike than different.  About 2 people who have the same fears of their success and what losing it might mean, so when they are faced with choices, it brings them closer...even when it seems to pull them apart.

I enjoy stories when I am pulling for the characters while wondering how they are ever going to make it work.  This was one of those stories, and I recommend it.

broken-edge-three-finalYou think you’d go far for love?
Think again.

She really knows how to push a man.
She finds the cracks and she goes right for them. She’ll travel across the world just to break me apart, piece by piece, until every last secret is exposed and every weakness revealed.
I swear to God, I love her so much I’ll let her do it.
I’ll let her do anything.
But when she hurts herself to protect me?
That’s a line in the sand.

GAH

AAARRRGGGHHHH!!!

The ending. Again! AAARRGGGHHH!!!

How am I going to wait until August to see how this ends? I literally don't know what to say, other than how BADLY I want to talk about this book...and how much I refuse to spoil it. And, at this point, there's so much that telling you would give away things, that have happened, that seem like they will happen...so, I am going to say nothing.

What I can say is that this is building beautifully. The relationships, the tension, the dying (on the part of the reader) to know what happens next is all going the way (sometimes) I thought it might...and others, not at all.

So, what I can tell you about this book? You need to read it. Start at the beginning, it's worth it. Really.

I enjoyed this book, and I recommend it.

About CD Reiss:

_21A6258_pp-fbCD Reiss is a New York Times bestseller. She still has to chop wood and carry water, which was buried in the fine print. Her lawyer is working it out with God but in the meantime, if you call and she doesn't pick up she's at the well hauling buckets. Born in New York City, she moved to Hollywood, California to get her master's degree in screenwriting from USC. In case you want to know, that went nowhere but it did give her a big enough ego to write novels. She's frequently referred to as the Shakespeare of Smut which is flattering but hasn't ever gotten her out of chopping that cord of wood. If you meet her in person, you should call her Christine.

HAPPY HOUR BY PIPER RAYNE - BLOG TOUR AND ARC REVIEW

HH_BLOG TOUR.png

The perfect man for her is the one she hates most. #gofigure

PRHappyHourBookCover5x8_BW_300

Dating is hard.
Dating in your thirties is even harder.
Dating in Chicago is harder still.
I haven't given up on finding my happily-ever-after, but in the age of swiping right and Netflix and chill, I'm wondering if everything is as temporary as my marriage turned out to be.
Truth is, there is one guy I can't get my mind off of.
Roarke Baldwin has salt and pepper hair I've dreamed of running my hands through and I'm pretty sure that if I checked he really does have a six pack of abs underneath his suit. And I've always wondered what that stubble on his face would feel like between my thighs.
The problem? He's the one man I hate more than my ex-husband…
His divorce attorney.

The build up to the story of Hannah and Roarke was perfection in the last 2 books, so by the time we got to this one, I was ready.

I loved so much about this title, that he took her out of their "normal" to see the things he doesn't share; his reaction to her statement that she had forgiven him for his part in her divorce; his willingness to let her into his life and take a risk for what he wanted.  All of it worked so well and made me actually believe that Hannah, as independent and angry as she started the book, would be willing to get involved with him and to let some of that anger go.

I was so frustrated with her at the end, but I also understood her initial response to the realization of how she acted and how willing she was to believe the worst about Roarke.  It made sense, it worked, and it was in character...even though I was frustrated with her (and so was Roarke) I understood why she made the decision and why it worked.

Of all of the titles in this series, I enjoyed this one the most.  I think because there were 2 previous books that built up to them ending up exactly where they are in this one.  I also loved the taboo, the idea of dating someone who has seen you at your worst and who, by doing his job, was directly responsible for the "worst" moments in your past is a leap of faith and a willingness to give in to a powerful attraction.

I recommend this title, and I enjoyed it.

Excerpt:
I press the numbers on my phone with shaky fingers, bringing the receiver up to my ear and release a deep breath. He picks up after one ring. “I thought we were friends? Having your assistant call my assistant. Tsk. Tsk, Ms. Crowley.” Aggravation fuses together every cell in my body until I become an impenetrable wall. “First, we are not friends. Second, I would prefer to talk to you via our office phones.” There’s a brief second of silence where he’s probably realizing I called him through my office line. “Ahh… so now you have my number and I don’t have yours? That seems terribly unfair.” “I didn’t realize you cared about fairness?” I lean back in my chair and cross my legs. “You don’t know that much about me. It’s not like you know me intimately.” He lowers his voice on the last word and drags it out. I roll my eyes, happy we’re not face-to-face so he can’t see the flush in my cheeks. “You may have witnessed how I own the courtroom, but you know nothing about my private life. For instance, you don’t know if I like thrillers or comedies. Whether I prefer sorbet to ice cream or if I wear boxers or briefs.” “I don’t need to know those things,” I say with frustration, shutting my eyes to rid the vision from my head of him in tight black boxer briefs—since that’s my preference. “You want to know though.” A sexual innuendo pours out of his mouth and hits its mark between my thighs. “There you go making assumptions about my wants.” I pick up my pen, shuffling through paperwork. Anything to distract me from this ache. “I not only know what you want, I know what you need, Ms. Crowley.” I smack my hand down on my desk. “Okay Rico Suave, let’s talk about this venue you have access to and keep the discussion of undergarments for another time.” A beeping sound interrupts us. “Hold all my calls please, Kristen.” Then nothing for a moment. “Sorry about that but you know how busy I am.” “Yes, I’m sure destroying people’s lives takes a lot of time. So let’s stop the sexual innuendos and get down to business.” “Let’s meet tonight. You frequent Torrio’s. I frequent Torrio’s. Let’s do something crazy and have a drink together.” “I don’t need a drink at Torrio’s, Mr. Baldwin, I need a venue to house my gala. Now tell me your terms and I want the details of this venue you insist you can secure. I refuse to meet you until you supply me with that information.” I uncross my legs and tap my foot on the floor under me. “So demanding. I like it.” I can hear him shuffling papers in the background. “I’ll have my assistant message your assistant with all the details of the venue. I’m sure it will be of your liking. Then we’ll meet tonight at Torrio’s. Seven sharp. Consider it our own personal happy hour.” “I’m not committing to anything until I see the venue.” “Then I’ll see you at seven.” The phone clicks and I stare at the receiver in my hand. “Prick,” I murmur. A knock sounds on my door.
