Title: HOT AND BOTHERED
Author: Jennifer Bernard
Series: Jupiter Point
Genre: Contemporary Romance
Release: February 13th

Synopsis

Ben, the most romantic of the smoking hot Knight brothers, knew from the moment he met his high school sweetheart, Julie deGaia, that she was the one for him. Marriage, kids…he wanted forever with Julie-until the moment she skipped town without a word. Then Ben's father was murdered, and his life was irrevocably changed. Now, after twelve years, Julie's back. Ben's over her, of course. They're completely different people now. Right. If they're so different, why do his feelings for her seem so damn familiar? And how, after all this time, can she still make Ben so hot and bothered? Julie was never supposed to return to Jupiter Point. It's only by staying away that she's ensured her safety. But she owes a huge debt to the wealthy and demanding Reinhard family, who took her in as a child. What the Reinhards want, they get, so here she is, dodging a handsomer-than-ever Ben Knight. Her former sweetheart has turned into a hunky pilot who aims that sexy smile at everyone except her-until he learns the truth about why she left in the first place. If the past can't keep Ben and Julie apart, a deadly threat in the present might. As for that idyllic future they always dreamed about? It might take some Jupiter Point magic to put this star-crossed couple on the road to happy ever after.

This is my first title by this author, and while this was a standalone, I did feel like maybe there was some information I didn't have, coming in to this in the 7th book in the series. There is a subplot that, while I was able to follow along, I don't think I was invested enough in the events to really understand the amount of time that was given to it.

The parts of this that focused on Ben and Julia were strong. I liked their relationship, the way it was in the past and also in the present. I thought they had a strong connection and it was interesting to watch them put their relationship together in the "now".

However, the murder subplot seemed a little tossed into the story to me, and I thought it took away from the overall story. As I mentioned, there was what felt like a lot of weight given to it, and it is a weighty subject, murder isn't light, but the time spent made me feel like I should have more info about it than I did on the way into the story...maybe the other stories build this up some and I missed that as I have not read them?

I did enjoy this overall, and I do recommend it...but I think it might be a good idea to have read other titles in the series.

BOUGHT BY THE BOSS BY STACEY KENNEDY - ARC REVIEW

What’s better than one bad-boy boss? How about two?

In a duet of naughty novellas, a charity date auction turns into all-out war when a pair of powerful corporate lawyers each buy the other’s assistant for a weekend of seduction.

HIS PRICE

I’ve wanted Aria Finley from the moment I met her.
We flirt, we laugh, we connect. It could be perfect.
She’s even best friends with my assistant.
Problem is, she works for my archnemesis—Jackson Keller—and she’s the kind of girl who stays loyal unless you give her a reason not to.
Besides my hard-on there’s something hot between us, and I won’t rest until I put my finger on it.
So when I get the chance to buy Aria for the weekend at a charity auction, there’s no limit.
I’m going to take her home and take what I want because I’ll make her want it too.
And by Monday, she’ll know she’s mine.

DIRTY MONEY

Liam Maxwell thinks he can get to me through my assistant, Aria.
Well, two can play that game.
Now Mallory Beckett—Liam’s assistant and Aria’s best friend—is mine for the weekend.
Only she has no idea who bought her at the charity auction.
This is going to be worth every penny.
But soon I realize that Mallory has been waiting for my touch all along.
What starts as a fling turns into something more.
From the beginning, I was so focused on stealing her away.
I never thought about the fact that I’d drown if I lost her.
Now the game has changed. And she needs to know that she belongs to me.

Aria and Liam - His Price - 3 Stars

Aria and Liam have been dancing around one another, afraid to make the connection as Liam and Jackson are enemies, and Aria works for Jackson.

Enter the auction where Liam bids on her, and they spend a long weekend together, and the attraction between them becomes something they are no longer willing to ignore.

This novella was hot, and it was sexy right away...although I didn't love the set up of this one.  I believed there was an attraction, but I was not convinced they had spent enough time together to be in love with one another.  But, meh, it is a novella and things happen quickly in them.

Jackson and Mallory - Dirty Money - 4 Stars

The story of Jackson and Mallory was really enjoyable.  I liked that there was an attraction there, and a bunch of inaccurate assumptions on both sides, and that this gave itself to a rather believable romance.  In a novella, the challenge is how quickly everything needs to happen by looking the time constraints directly in the face, dealing with a couple who was just giving in to the attraction and ending it, before the epilogue, in a place that worked for the budding/new relationship.

From a pacing standpoint, I believed the 2nd story a little more than the first, but I enjoyed both and I recommend this title.

BROOKLYNAIRE BY SARINA BOWEN - RELEASE BLITZ & ARC REVIEW

A sexy new standalone from USA Today bestselling author Sarina Bowen.

You’d think a billion dollars, a professional hockey team and a six-bedroom mansion on the Promenade would satisfy a guy. You’d be wrong.

For seven years Rebecca has brightened my office with her wit and her smile. She manages both my hockey team and my sanity. I don’t know when I started waking in the night, craving her. All I know is that one whiff of her perfume ruins my concentration. And her laugh makes me hard.

When Rebecca gets hurt, I step in to help. It’s what friends do. But what friends don’t do is rip off each others’ clothes for a single, wild night together.

Now she’s avoiding me. She says we’re too different, and it can never happen again. So why can’t we keep our hands off each other?

Nate and Rebecca are the story I have been waiting for while reading all the others. Not to say that I didn't enjoy the other stories in the series, but there was so much in them leading up to this that I have been looking forward to it.  A lot.

And, it didn't disappoint.  Nate is the billionaire owner of the Brooklyn Bruisers and a bit of a tech geek.  Actually, a bit is an understatement.  He is the last guy you would expect to own a pro team of any type, much less the rough sport of hockey.

Rebecca has worked for Nate for years, from the beginning when they were a small office, and as they have grown, she has been right there.  Until Nate transfers her from the main office to the hockey team's office.  And, she feels she has done something wrong.  Little does she know, it is that Nate can't stop thinking about her, and has decided it is not professional to be in love with one of his employees.

And, that is the fun of this book.  Watching Nate, his PowerPoint presentations and his mild social awkwardness deal with falling in love with Rebecca, and having a chance at having something more with her, is hilarious and enjoyable.  You feel for both of the characters as they try to navigate being the team owner and employee while falling in love...although as the reaction of those around them seems to be a lack of surprise and wondering why it took them so long.

The epilogue is also satisfying and ties up some loose ends that have run through the other books and I was left very pleased at the end of this title.

I recommend this title.

I grab a towel off a waiting stack of them and toss it onto the edge. “You can sit and put your feet in.”
She’s wearing a short little knit dress that’s been making me crazy all evening, so it would be easy enough for her to strip off those stockings, sit on the towel, and drop both feet in.
And that’s what she does. She eases one stocking down over a smooth knee and tugs it off.
I don’t want to stand there staring like a middle-school boy. Okay, I do want to. But I don’t want to make her uncomfortable. So I go over to the sound system instead, and I set my phone on the speaker and cue up a really old playlist. One she’ll recognize.
When I turn around again, she’s seated on the towel, both legs hanging down into the churning water. “Ah. Wow.” She looks up at me, her eyes sparkling. “Nice place you got here.”
Isn’t it?” I toe off my shoes and kick them to the side.
The first song comes on, and it’s a Macklemore tune that we used to play far too often in our first office. Rebecca laughs immediately. “You didn’t! I haven’t heard this playlist in forever. But I’ll bet I still know every transition. Lady Gaga is next.”
“She sure is.”
Rebecca kicks her feet, making a splash. “I have a little confession to make.”
“What’s that?” I loosen my tie and slide the knot out.
“Well…” She grins up at me. “I used to have a crush on you. Back in the early days.”
My hands freeze on the tie silk. “Get out of town. You did not.”
“No, I really did.” Her cheeks are pink. “That first year especially. But you were taken, and you were my boss. Those two things made it pretty easy to tamp down, when you’re a practical girl like me.”
I walk over and drop down beside her, my back to the water, though, because I’m still wearing trousers and socks. “So how does that work, exactly?”
“What?” She gives me a sidelong glance, but then looks away again and won’t meet my eyes.
“How do you stop wanting someone? I’m a practical person, but I don’t see how that makes it any easier. Nothing seems to mute the raging attraction I have for you.”
Her chin turns quickly toward me, and I seize the opportunity to kiss her. And it only takes one kiss—one slide of my lips over hers, and I’m on fire again.
We’re facing opposite directions, so it’s awkward as hell. But I don’t even care. I take greedy sip after greedy sip of her mouth, until she pulls back to stare at me. Her color is high and her eyes are bright and happy. “This is like Twister.”
“It’s better,” I correct. Lady Gaga comes on, just as Becca said she would. “Are we getting into this pool or what?”
Becca kicks a foot in the water. “I’m tempted. But I don’t have a bathing suit.”
“Oh, snap.”
She smiles and shakes her head. “Are you really getting in?”
“We don’t have to.” I’m never going to pressure her.
Her fingers trail across the surface of the bubbling water. “But this is an adventure, right?”
“Right.” I stand up and remove my socks. She’s watching me. And I can’t read her expression. “What?”
“Just wondering what else you’re going to take off.” She smiles.
“Come here.” The order rolls off my tongue.
But Rebecca doesn’t blink. She gets up and turns toward me, curiosity in her eyes.
“You tell me. What am I taking off?”
She puts two hands tentatively on my chest, and I make myself be patient. Everything I ever wanted is on the other side of this moment. I just need us to break through this awkwardness—the “will we or won’t we” tension.
Her fingers find the top button of my shirt. “I’m not getting in the water unless you are.”
That’s a compromise I can live with. I find my lower shirt buttons and work upwards, until we meet in the middle. She pushes the two halves of my shirt apart and runs a hand down my bare chest.
My inner caveman stands up and cheers.
