SPIDER-FINAL-FULL

Spider, a sexy and forbidden new standalone, is available NOW!

Title: Spider
Author: Ilsa Madden-Mills
Publication Date: November 13th, 2017

From Wall Street Journal bestselling author Ilsa Madden-Mills comes a new standalone romance about a flawed hero and the woman he can’t forget.

"She crossed my path and changed my whole direction."

He calls himself Spider.

I just knew him as the sinfully gorgeous guy with eyes of fire that fate sat next to me on the airplane.

I didn’t know who he really was…British rock star…my stepbrother.

He kissed me because he thought we’d never see each other again. We would.

Everyone warned me about him.

They told me he was ruthless and cold and screwed up.

They said he’d leave me with a hole in my heart.

Maybe I should have listened.

Maybe I should have built up a fortress to keep him out.

But I crumbled instead.

They say an unbreakable thread connects those who are destined to meet. If that’s true, then the moment he sat next to me, we were bound together forever.

He just had to figure it out before it’s too late…

I've been a fan of this author's work in the past and was intrigued by this blurb. It seemed different from the other books I've read from her but I definitely wanted to give it a try. I mean, a British rock star hero, a second chance love story? I'm in!

Rose and Spider are bound together by an invisible tether from a young age. There's just something about one another that calls to the other. They complement each other and just absolutely fit. Together or apart, they're a unit. There were moments I didn't think they would work, but they always managed to somehow.

I liked the development of the relationship between these characters. I think they stayed true to who they were throughout the book-learning to grow and change with one another but not necessarily FOR one another.

This book is sweet, sexy and was a quick read for me. The writing was engaging and honest and kept me in the story. I will say it moved quickly and that it was almost over too soon. I could have used a bit more time with these characters I think...and I know I would have liked maybe a bit more about being a rock star. Overall, I enjoyed this story and would recommend it.

How can one human man be so hot?

Spider sits on my toilet, shirtless, while I dab at his swollen eye. I’m doing my best to keep my eyes averted from the ink on his body, the way his tattoos swirl underneath his jeans, the way his chest is carved from stone.

Of course, I’m the stupid person who suggested he remove his shirt so I could see if he has any bruising on his chest. A cracked or broken rib can cause a lot of pain, and I want to be thorough, that’s all—I swear to baby Jesus.

He grinned at my request and whipped it off—which is the reason I’m now a mess.

There’s hardly any room to breathe with him in my small bathroom. I wipe at the spot of blood on his cheek as he watches me stoically, never taking his eyes off me, tracking my every movement.

“This will look worse tomorrow,” I murmur, just to ease the tension. I stand between his spread legs, acutely aware of his fresh scent, his pure magnetism. My hands shake and I have to focus to push an image of me straddling him, both of us naked, out of my head. I want to run my tongue over the tattoo on his neck. I want to bite him like an animal while he—

Good grief, Rose, stop the fantasy!

“You’d make a good nurse,” he says softly, his long black lashes fluttering softly against his chiseled cheekbones.

“Doctor of Psychology,” I correct him.

“Your dream?”

“Yes.” Although right now I’m dreaming of him… “I know that feeling. That’s how music is to me.” His golden-brown eyes watch me as I reach over to the medicine cabinet for more antiseptic and antibacterial cream, my chest perilously close to his face. I swear my nipples are reaching for him.

“Why psychology?”

I nod, pretending like I’m not all discombobulated. “My granny mainly. She loved to read people—literally. She ran a little palm-reading business out of her home before she died. All the old ladies of the neighborhood would come to see her. She’d make them coffee and they’d just…talk. She’d tell them what they needed to hear while I sat on the floor next to her and listened. There wasn’t any magic involved of course.” I laugh. “But…she was incredibly intuitive. She just got people. If someone twitched or looked left or right while they were talking, she’d have a reason for it and she’d tell me all about it after they left.”

“I think I would have loved your granny.” He curls an arm around me, tugging me close until my chest is a hair’s breadth away from his face. I recall our epic kiss on the plane. I feel the pressure of his taut thighs and my breath quickens as desire unfurls inside me.

A hum warms my blood. I want him—desperately.

And it’s entirely foolish.

He’s my stepbrother.

He doesn’t call girls back.

“Why does it seem like I’ve known you forever?” I ask, feeling myself gravitating closer.

He thinks about it, pushing a piece of hair out of my eyes. Cupping my nape, he pulls me in tighter until our noses meet. The back of his hand caresses my cheek and the heat from his touch burns, yet there’s a tautness in the roped muscles of his arms, as if he’s holding himself in check.

“Because I am you,” he says softly. “We’re so much alike, it’s staggering.” He pauses and stares deep into my eyes.

I nod. I can’t think. He’s so close to me, his eyes burning into mine. He closes his eyes and exhales. “I want you, Rose. You’re intoxicating.”

I suck in a sharp breath, our lips inches apart.

Is he going to kiss me? I want him to.

His eyes open after the silence has gone on too long, a smirk forming around his mouth. “You scared of me, Rose?”

Never.

“I’m scared you’ll rip my heart out.”

He stares at the LOST tattoo on his hand. “I probably will.”

LOVE ON THE EDGE OF TIME BY JULIE A. RICHMAN - BLOG TOUR

SBPRBanner-LOTEOT-BT.jpg

Love on the Edge of Time, an all-new stand-alone story about a love too great to be bound by time, from Julie A. Richman is available NOW!

LOTEOT_Print_Web

He likes whiskey and wild women
She likes Ben & Jerry’s
He’s about to get kicked out of his own band
She ate her way off the Miss America pageant circuit
What could these two possibly have in common?
A psychiatrist
A lot of unresolved issues
A whole bunch of shared lifetimes
And a love that is never-ending
As bad boy rocker, Jesse Winslow, and former pageant queen, Kylie Martin, each fight the demons screwing up their lives, the one person who holds the key to healing their ills and reuniting two souls that have searched for one another, lifetime after lifetime, is the only one who knows the whole truth.
And keeping that truth from them may just be in preeminent psychiatrist Dr. Claire Stoddard’s best interests.
Claire has committed the ultimate sin in the medical world. She’s fallen for the one man she’s forbidden to love.
Her patient, Jesse Winslow.
And she’s not about to lose him to Kylie Martin... Again.

So, I slept on it and I am still not sure what I want to say about this book.

It was so good, and it felt different than other books I have read, if that makes any sense.

Jesse and Kylie exist in a romance genre novel, so there are certain expectations of what will happen, and how it will happen, and how it will end. And, this book, well, it took those expectations and it shook them up a little.

Don't get me wrong, this is absolutely still a romance, and it is one that you will read and enjoy...but it feels different. In all romance, I think, there is a certain willing suspension of disbelief. It allows you to engage with the characters even if you don't 100% believe that the things happening would happen in real life. Because, romance is, well, romantic. And, the fights on the way to the grocery store about what you are going to have for dinner, well, that is reality but not romance.

In this book, you get some of the reality and some of the romance. As it is in the blurb, it is not a spoiler to say that you also get the romance through more than one lifetime, you see them in years past and in a bunch of other scenarios. This is, I think, one of the parts of the book that makes it feel so different.

The writing is strong and the characters are interesting. Is this a totally conventional romance? No, it isn't...but it works and I enjoyed it.

I recommend this title.

This time he didn’t text. He just called, waking her at two-fifteen a.m. “Bare-ly dressed again tonight?” Her laugh, filled with sleep was gruff. “Barely dressed every night.” “What exactly do you have on?” “A pink tank top and pink silk bikini.” “Take them off,” he ordered. “Excuse me,” there was an element of surprise in Kylie’s voice. “You heard me. Take them off. Now.” Just hearing rustling on the other end of the line, he could feel his cock stiffen and it felt damn good after all this time. Baby, I’m back, he thought. “We’re having phone sex? But, Jesse, we haven’t even kissed yet,” her protest was weak. And even she knew it. “Yes, we’re having phone sex, and when I get back to New York, we’re going to do a lot more than kiss. You’ve friend-zoned me, Toots, and I’m busting out.” Kylie was smiling on her end of the phone. Friend-zoned Jesse Fucking Winslow? Was he serious? “Nobody puts Jesse in a friend-zone,” she couldn’t help herself. “Are they off?” He totally ignored her joke. “Mmm-hmm.” “What was that?” he asked, his voice gruff and serious. “Yes, they’re off.” “Okay, spread your legs, and with your phone, take a picture of your pussy for me.” “Seriously?” She knew she was blushing in the dark. “Take the picture, Kylie.” “Okay, but if you sell this to the paparazzi, I will kill you.” There was a rustling sound, then, “Oh, my God, I can’t believe I’m doing this.” He laughed. “Okay, here it comes. I hope it’s photogenic. It would be really embarrassing to have a non-photogenic pussy.” Pulling the phone from his ear to look, Kylie could hear his moan, exciting her even more. “So photogenic, Toots, just like the rest of you. And I love the red landing strip. It’s so hot. Oh, man, I love this. Spread your legs wider and use one hand to spread your lips open for me and send me another.” Following his directions, she did as he requested.

About the Author:

jarheadshotI must've been 5 or 6 when I started writing "stories". I would write them and hide them. Not wanting anyone to see my "secret" thoughts. I needed to write - even back then. Now I'm just not hiding them anymore. Is that a sign of maturity? Nah... Writer, photographer, insatiable wanderluster, edge-player, foodie, music addict, pop culture fanatic, animal lover, warrior for the rights of people and planet, and avid cusser (am a Native New Yorker, so very little offends me...and if I am offended, it must be pretty freaking bad..like bad grammar!) I've really gotten hooked on J. Kenner's writing this year. She has a knack for just drawing me in to her stories and characters. Wicked Torture, the third book in her Stark World, was no different. This emotional second chance romance pulled me in right from the start.

Noah...oh, tortured Noah. He's a pretty great book boyfriend. He's loyal, hot, sexy...and definitely haunted. He definitely has some issues to work through and overcome and he has to do it on his own time, at his own pace. The author doesn't rush him. There were moments I wanted to shake him, yes, but I really wanted to hug him.

Kiki had her own heartbreak to deal with, and she did so in much the same way as Noah. I had a bit of a disconnect with her initially but quickly started rooting for her once I got her. She was protective of her heart, rightfully so. I completely saw where she was coming from.

You can feel the connection between these two. The spark is there and it was believable for me. The sexy times were sexy and hot, which I've come to expect from this author. There was a bit more of an emotional pull to this book for me with these characters. They'd both been through so much so it was very gratifying to watch them pursue their happy ever after.

As always, the writing here was crisp and clean. I feel the pacing worked well and I was rooting for these characters from the start. While this is the third book set in the Stark World for the Author it can be enjoyed as a standalone. I recommend this book and look forward to what this Author will do next!

A second chance romance needs to have a good reason for me to believe that the couple will not only be able to get over their past but will be able to do so enough to move forward.

This book had one of the best reasons I have ever encountered, and I read a lot of the second chance romance trope as it is a favorite of mine.

J. Kenner writes the story of Noah and Kiki as 2 people who were separated by circumstance, and then by their own inner demons and makes you want them to be together. The chemistry and the sexual attraction is instant, and it is brought to the "now" through their current relationship. The romance, and the relationship builds on the foundation given by their past, but also builds new as they learn to trust one another and their relationship.

The writing and the pacing are excellent and you feel the connection with the characters and the build up of the relationship makes it feel real.

I recommend this title

Time to heal. Somehow, though, he never found the enthusiasm. Or maybe that was just an excuse. Another way of punishing himself for walking away from the woman he loved in favor of the woman he’d owed. And since he’d never have either of them again, he needed to kick his own ass, pick up the pieces of his life, and start building something real. After all, there wasn’t a tech gadget he couldn’t design, build, or repair. So why was he so clueless when it came to his own damn life? It was time, and it would be easy. Painless even, because God knew Evie embodied everything he admired in a woman. Strength. Intelligence. Ambition. Humor. Beauty. She was as desirable as Lyle had promised and obviously enthusiastic. In other words, he was all out of excuses. He stood up, intending to tell her to lead the way. But the words that came out of his mouth shocked them both. “I’m sorry, Evie,” he said. “You’ve been wonderful, but I have an early meeting, and I should probably get home.” “Oh.” He’d surprised her as she was rising, and now she teetered awkwardly on her heels, as if his unexpected words would physically topple her. He reached out a hand to steady her, and for the briefest moment, he considered pulling her close and fighting his way past his hesitation. She was everything he should want in a woman—with the unfortunately insurmountable problem that she wasn’t what he wanted at all. Or, rather, she wasn’t who he wanted. Goddamn him. Goddamn his stupid, unrealistic fantasies. And while he was at it, goddamn Kiki, too. He was being an idiot and unfair, and he knew it. An idiot, because he’d made his choice to walk away from Kiki long ago, and he knew damn well that he’d shattered her in the process. Even if he could have seen his way clear to look her up after all these years, he’d forfeited his right to come crawling back. Unfair, because not ten minutes ago he’d been ready to take the plunge with Evie, and yet here he was, dodging and shifting like a damn coward, trying to swim up out of the deep black ocean of loss and pain. A familiar pain that wrapped him like a blanket, so cloying it was almost comfortable. And he knew damn well that there was only one way to fight it—he needed to take the girl to her room and try to fuck the darkness out of him. The way he’d done with countless other women. The way that never worked like it should. That only dulled the sharp edges of his pain, but added no light to the darkness. That wasn’t what he wanted. Not anymore. One of the reasons he’d moved to Austin was to heal, after all. To heal, and to break bad habits. Still, it was tempting, and it took more strength than he expected to shake his head again and say very gently, “I really am sorry. I’m not … ready.” She’d been polite enough not to mention the tragedy in his past, but he was certain that Lyle must have at least told her that he’d lost his wife and daughter. Hopefully, that softened the blow of rejection. She’d regained her footing, and now she stepped back, her forehead creased as her eyes flicked over him, expertly assessing him as she would a witness. “It’s been almost nine years, I’m told.” The sharp edge of her voice sliced his heart. So much for softening the blow. “If you don’t get ready soon, I can’t help but think you’re going to end up sad and alone.” With a thin, sympathetic smile, she turned and walked away, leaving him to watch her go and wonder at her perceptiveness. Because she was right. He was going to end up sad and alone. Hell, he already was.

SEDUCING THE DEFENDANT BY CHANTAL FERNANDO-RELEASE BLITZ

Title: Seducing the Defendant
Series: The Conflict of Interest Series #2
Author: Chantal Fernando
Publisher: Gallery
Genre: Contemporary Romance
Release Date: November 14, 2017

Blurb

New York Times bestselling author Chantal Fernando returns to her latest, steamy Conflict of Interest series with this electrifying tale of murder, justice, and intense attraction.
Jaxon Bentley is a hardnosed criminal lawyer whose entire life revolves around his work. He’s been asked to represent Scarlett Reyes, a woman accused of murdering her police officer husband in cold blood. All the evidence points to Scarlett being guilty and Jaxon is sure it’s an open and shut case.

But when he meets his client, he can’t help but feel that she’s innocent and that there’s more to the story than meets the eye. With a bit of digging, he uncovers a connection to the notorious Wind Dragons Motorcycle Club and realizes that Scarlett’s case is a complicated and difficult one. It certainly doesn’t help that the two share an immediate and passionate attraction. Will Jaxon be able to prove Scarlett’s innocence or are the two doomed to fail both in court and as a couple?

I enjoyed this, mostly. This is my first book by this author, and I did not read the first in the series, however this is really a standalone and you don't need to have read the 1st to follow the events in this story.

That said, the idea that she was his client was never really that prevalent for me, there was not a lot of explored attraction until after there was a resolution of the relationship and he was no longer acting as her attorney. I guess a relationship with a former attorney is a little forbidden, but it isn't what I was expecting for the book.

I also thought it was rushed in places and that made it a little difficult to follow as I thought some events were not given the time or the development that they needed in order to feel as pivotal for the story as they ended up being.

I did like it overall, and the relationship between Jaxon and Scarlett is interesting, I just felt that there needed to be more development in some areas for me to really be willing to invest in it.

This is the second book in Chantal Fernando's Conflict of Interest Series but it can be enjoyed as a standalone. I was definitely hooked with this blurb and was interested to see where the Author would take this type of situation. This was a quick read for me and overall I liked it.

Jaxon is a defense attorney hired to represent Scarlett. I don't know what exactly I was expecting from him but it wasn't for him to be as quick to jump into things as he was. He's sexy, sweet and loyal. All good qualities in a book boyfriend.

I had a bit of a disconnect with Scarlett initially and I couldn't quite put my finger on what exactly wasn't working for me. But as I kept reading she grew on me. I think she grew as a character overall and watching that was very satisfying for me.

There's an obvious connection with these two. There's no shortage of sexy times for them-which was fine but I wouldn't have minded less sexy times if we got more character development.

The writing was solid but the pacing was a little off for me. I was expecting a bit more of the book to be about the forbidden attorney/client relationship and that just wasn't there for me. Some things were glossed over and I think if they had been delved into a little deeper I would have enjoyed it more. Overall, I did like the book and will try more from this author.

About the Author

CD Reiss is a New York Times bestseller. She still has to chop wood and carry water, which was buried in the fine print. Her lawyer is working it out with God but in the meantime, if you call and she doesn't pick up she's at the well hauling buckets. Born in New York City, she moved to Hollywood, California to get her master's degree in screenwriting from USC. In case you want to know, that went nowhere but it did give her a big enough ego to write novels. She's frequently referred to as the Shakespeare of Smut which is flattering but hasn't ever gotten her out of chopping that cord of wood. If you meet her in person, you should call her Christine.
