Hot Stuff - about book

HOT STUFF_Amazon

Get ready to fall in love with this new standalone sports romance from New York Times bestselling author Kim Karr.

He’s the newly drafted quarterback.

Hot. Arrogant. Too sexy for words.

Ready to score.

I’m an athletic intern, and the coach’s daughter.

Driven. Determined.

Prepared to conquer the world.

Completely off-limits.

The NFL is full of rules. Rules I’ve never broken. Never challenged. Never even scratched—until the day Lucas Carrington crashes into my life with his hard body and I-don’t-give-a-f*ck attitude.

After I almost injure my father’s star player, I volunteer to make sure he’s in top shape. At first, it’s hell. I don’t like his attitude, his cockiness, his easy smile. Don’t like the way he oozes sex. Or how his penetrating eyes follow me everywhere.

That doesn’t stop me from wanting him.

He’s meant to be a distraction—something to occupy my mind for these precious few remaining hot summer nights before I’m forced to leave football behind forever.

I know what we’re doing will lead nowhere good. I know we’re crossing the line. And I know my father will never understand.

None of that matters.

But maybe it should.

Rules aren’t meant to be broken.

Or are they?

DR. NEURO BY MAX MONROE-BLOG TOUR

From the New York Times & USA Today bestselling author of TAPPING THE BILLIONAIRE comes a new three book series of Romantic Comedy standalones.

I’m Dr. Nick Raines.
Brain surgeon and notorious over-thinker, I take the analytical approach with everything, until I can determine the best, carefully calculated plan of action. It’s no shock the producers of the popular reality series The Doctor Is In have decided to call me Dr. Neurotic.

Besides my more than full-time job as Chief of Neurosurgery at St. Luke’s Hospital, I’m a single dad and my number one priority is my daughter.

But life had plans to add another priority to my list.
Charlotte Hollis. Outspoken, impulsive, and beautiful, she’s everything I didn’t know I was craving.

She makes me wonder What if?

What if I don’t have to be alone for the rest of my life to give my little girl the father she deserves?

It's a battle—my battle: Head vs. Heart.

I have to say I wanted this book for a very specific reason. I fell in love with Max Monroe last year with their Billionaire Bad Boy Series and the hero in this book is briefly mentioned in the last book of that series. I'll be honest, I didn't like him there. At all. So I wanted to see what Max Monroe had up their sleeves for this character and man was I ever surprised. This book had the humor, heat and charm I've come to expect from Max Monroe.

Now, I said I didn't like Nick. I meant that. When I met him in Scoring the Billionaire he left a bad taste in my mouth. He completely and totally redeemed himself in this book. Sexy single dad, a man working to rebuild a relationship with his kid (his amazing kid)? Swoon. Nick is finally in a good place, focused on what matters to him and life throws him one hell of a curveball in the form of Charlotte.

Charlotte was fun. She's smart, has a killer laugh and goes after what she wants. These authors have a knack of writing strong, sassy women and Charlotte is no different. I would love to go to trivia night with her and Lexi...and I guess we could bring Nick.

There's chemistry here but these two face a unique set of obstacles. Yes, they're dealing with the fact that Nick is a single dad trying to build a relationship with his child, but there's more hidden depths there. I won't get into it because it's definitely spoiler material, but these two faced a curve I didn't see coming. I liked watching them grow and challenge each other.

This is the conclusion to Max Monroe's St. Luke's Docuseries. You don't have to have read the first two to follow the story, or any of Max Monroe's works for that matter. If you're looking for a witty, funny, sassy book with some heat give Dr. Neuro a try. I recommend this book.

ARM CANDY BY JESSICA LEMMON-ARC REVIEW

Last call! At the end of the night, a clean-cut hunk and a rebellious bartender act on their unlikely chemistry in this frisky standalone novel from the author of Eye Candy.

Davis: I’ve had my eye on Grace Buchanan for a while now. Unlike the bubbly blondes I usually date, the feisty, flame-haired bartender both intrigues and bewilders me. Something about Grace—the tattoos? the nose ring?—makes every part of me sit up and beg. There’s only one problem: She hates me. Trading insults and one-liners has become our M.O. But when Grace bets me that I can’t get a date with a non-blonde if my life depends on it, I’m determined to prove her wrong by landing the ultimate non-blonde: her.

Grace: I’m used to regulars hitting on me, and I’ve turned them all down, except for one: Davis Price. I like giving him a hard time, and he’s kind of cute in his suit and tie—if you’re into that kind of thing. Anyway, I don’t care how many blondes he takes home . . . until one of them sidles up to him in my bar. Nuh-uh. But after my little bet with Davis backfires, our first date lands us in the sack. So does the second. And the third. Neither of us wants more than the best sex of our lives. The trouble is, it’s not a question of what I want. It’s what I need. And what I need is Davis.

Dear Jessica Lemmon,

How, HOW do you keep writing the best possible book boyfriends? How am I supposed to pick one? Well, I refuse to pick and I am just going to keep reading your books, because each is better than the last (seriously, HOW do you keep doing this???)

Arm Candy was absolutely not what I thought it was going to be...and at the same time, it was.

Ms. Lemmon has a style of writing that makes you laugh while you are crying and vice versa. I think, at least for me, this is the appeal. At first glance, her books are a light read...but then you start them, and you are crying, your heart is breaking, and you are laughing...wondering where that light read went...until it appears again, and there is a phrase that just makes you laugh.

Davis is so perfect. I loved all of his little quirks and contradictions, the way he dresses for work in his home office is so telling about who he is on the outside, the inside, and the importance he places on appearances, about looking a certain way, and about being a certain way.

Until he meets Grace and she is none of those things. She isn't what he thinks he wants, she doesn't fit the mold. More importantly, she doesn't fit with what he thinks he should want, so he fights the attraction...her hair is the wrong color, she has the wrong job...he fights it.

And, then he takes a bet. Not because he can't back down, but because it is an excuse. Davis can let himself want Grace, because the date wasn't his idea...it was a bet. It's his cover, his rationale, and the way he talks himself into it being ok to be with her. I loved how incredibly relate-able this is...I think we all have something that we would do, in a heartbeat, if we could place the blame (or at least the catalyst) for doing it on someone else. Davis is no fool and he jumps at the chance.

The rest of the book is them working it out, learning about themselves while figuring out the other person and learning how to make things work and the value of putting in the effort when you find that one person who just gets you. There are some dips, and some things that happen that are very real life, but I loved how each event worked to further the story and to let you get to know Davis and Grace just a little more with each event.

Remember how I said she didn't fit the mold for Davis? No problem, she breaks it apart until there's nothing left but dust. And, it's quite a ride. I recommend this title.

It's books like this that remind me why I love Jessica Lemmon. She has a knack for writing books that have me laughing, then crying, then swooning. Arm Candy definitely did all of that-and it had me falling in love with yet another book boyfriend.

I really enjoyed getting to know Gracie throughout this book. She is smart, sassy, sexy and just fun. Her sensitive side really got me though. I felt for her and her the issues she had to work through. She grew a lot through this book and I definitely cheered her on.

I absolutely adored Davis. He's structured, has an impeccable work ethic and is sexy as all get out. He knows it, too. He guards himself the best way he knows how from the hurt he experienced in the past-and I have to say I found his packages...interesting. Trust me on this, read the book. I know which Davis package I would choose.

These two don't have the easiest path. They have their fun, they hit some speed bumps. You can't deny their chemistry but this book is about more than that. This book is about a real relationship, real problems that people face and it has a few stops along the way that surprised me. But the growth between Davis and Gracie was great.

I loved getting to peek back at past characters. They enhance this story and brought a smile to my face. The writing is strong, witty and smart. I love the way this story played out, it felt incredibly real and natural to me. That's the beauty of a book from Jessica Lemmon. It's a romance that is relatable and real. I feel like I could see these characters in my every day life and be friends with them and I love it. This is the second in Ms. Lemmon's Real Love series and I cannot wait to see what she has in store for us next. I absolutely recommend this book.

EYE CANDY FEATURING TIJAN, J. DANIELS, HELENA HUNTING, BELLA JEWEL AND TARA SIVEC-RELEASE BLITZ

A frightfully good time! Dive into these Halloween novellas from bestselling authors Tijan, J. Daniels, Helena Hunting, Bella Jewel and Tara Sivec. Featuring stories set in the worlds of their popular series.

Tijan’s Fallen Crest crew are back for a weekend of mischief that takes a sinister turn; all four couples from J. Daniels’ Alabama Summer series gear up for Halloween in their own sexy ways, with a special surprise at the end; Helena Hunting’s characters from Shacking Up plan a Halloween gala that features a few ghouls and witches; Bella Jewel brings the chills and thrills in her suspenseful take on Halloween night; and Tara Sivec gathers the Holiday family together one last time as they try to make this ghostly holiday one to remember—or one they’d rather forget…

Cozy up with a mug of hot cider on a dark night and fall under the spell of this Halloween anthology!

I enjoyed the glimpse into Ruby and Bane and the chance to see them after the events of Shacking Up. But, that said, you need to have read it in order to enjoy this, as I don't think these were intended to be read as standalones.

It was essentially an extended epilogue with the addition, I think, of possibly setting up a future couple based on the interactions of the characters in the story.

was it fun? Absolutely, if you have read Shacking Up, you got to see the characters again, where they are now, and a glimpse into where things are going for them, which is always a treat. Add in Helena Hunting and you have a mix of humor and swoony hot sex that is very characteristic of her writing.

I only read this in the anthology, as I was not familiar enough with the other characters in the other stories to really be able to engage with them.

I recommend the Helena Hunting novella.

GETTING DOWN by Helena Hunting

One eyebrow quirks as he asks, “You two playing dress-up?”
I grin. I assume it must look incredibly evil considering the makeup I’m currently sporting but am not allowed to see yet. “We’re practicing for Halloween.”
His mouth tilts in a smirk. “Fuck yes you are.”
Oh yeah. I’m getting so lucky later. I don’t think I’m changing out of this costume, as difficult as it might be to sit in all night considering the massive wings attached to my back. I’ll make it work. Bancroft is very well acquainted with my love of all things Halloween and horror.
“What’s happening in there?” Armstrong elbows Bancroft in the ribs so he can poke his head in the door.
He edges inside the bathroom and his eyes go wide as they move over Amie. I suppose I can understand why. I’ve managed to get her into a pair of red satin booty shorts and a tight T-shirt. Her bra is very, very visible through the thin fabric. Her amazing legs are on display. Her hair is pulled up into two pigtails. If I wasn’t 100 percent sure she wasn’t even close to Bancroft’s type, I might be inclined to make her cover up. But he’s not into leggy blondes. He’s into somewhat petite brunettes. He also likes the sass, which I have an abundance of.
“What’re you wearing?” Armstrong asks. He sounds very much like he’s sucked on a helium balloon for shits and giggles.
Amie looks down at herself, as if she doesn’t understand his concern. She does. Fully. We talked about how he wouldn’t approve of this costume at all before they arrived. Which is the exact reason I suggested she continue to wear it.
I’m not actively trying to interfere in my best friend’s relationship, but I’m not fully convinced he’s the perfect fit for her, either. He’s far too trust - fund - pickle - up - ass.

Long for Me by Stacey Lynn
Publisher: Carina Press
Release Date: September 4th, 2017

0917_9781488028267_Long_For_Me_Web.jpg

Synopsis:

My boss already controls my days; do I want to give him my nights, as well?

Rebecca

I’ve seen what happens when you give everything to a man. That's not what I want. I won't have my heart crushed in anyone's fist.
Then he changed everything.
Him. Bennett Ashby. My boss.
Seeing him at Luminous, dressed in leather pants and wielding a whip...
Do I crave this?
My mind says no, but my body is starting to have very different ideas.

Bennett

I knew Rebecca Morales would be the perfect assistant. That's why I hired her.
I didn't know that working with her every day would lead to temptation—to own her, to possess her.
When she walked into Luminous, I knew I was screwed. Dipping your pen in the company ink is never smart, but we both agreed what happens at the club stays there.
One night and then it's back to business tomorrow.
Except I don't want just one night with Rebecca. I want them all.

My oh my did this blurb draw me in. An erotic romance with some office romance elements? Sign me up! I expected this book to be hot and sexy, which it was, but it also had a level of sweetness I wasn't quite expecting-but I loved.

Rebecca had a past that's giving her a hard time reconciling what she is craving as an adult. Her head is at war with her heart, and it's a really well written battle. I felt for her, I understood her confusion. I loved her sassy side and seeing her finally accept herself was just beautiful. I found her to be very relatable and I was cheering for her throughout the book.

Bennett...yeah, I love him. I absolutely LOVE him. He's tough, he's sweet, he's protective and just utterly perfect for Rebecca. Seeing him finally break through to her had me sighing and swooning. I loved seeing how open he was and how honest.

There's a connection between these two. I mean, it's undeniable. I loved the way they responded to each other. The passion between them? Raw, real and so hot. There were many moments I swore my kindle was going to melt-and I would have been completely ok with it. I can't lie, I wouldn't have minded trading places with Rebecca!

The pacing of this book was great. I never felt anything was rushed or glossed over just to get to the sex, which sometimes happens in erotic books. There's a plot here that just flowed. The writing was fantastic. The dialogue was sharp and sassy.

This is technically the third book in Stacey Lynn's Luminous series but it can be enjoyed as a standalone. There are mentions of characters from previous books but the way this is written you definitely don't HAVE to have read those to understand what's going on here. I loved this book and would absolutely recommend it.

I love it when an erotic romance just allows itself to be both erotic and a romance.

Was their a story? Yes, there was...but it was character driven and the sex, the romance, and the attraction between Rebecca and Bennett was allowed to be the focus. So many times, an erotic story is exactly that, a lot of eroticism and not much else, but this was a romance...a hot, panty melting, going-to-need-a-new-Kindle-as-mine-just-exploded kind of romance, but a romance.

I liked this. A lot. In so many books, there is an effort to make an erotic romance "more" than an erotic romance. But, really, for one to work you need characters and sex. This had both. And then it took it up a level with characters you really like and some seriously hot sex. You can have both. You don't have to fade to black to keep a story character driven, and you don't have to have only one dimensional characters who get naked.

I enjoy Stacey Lynn's books. When you read one of her titles, you know you are going to get a strongly written story and that there are going to be characters that you relate to...or, if you don't relate to them because there are things you haven't experienced in life, you will be able to see them as real.

This book is a standalone, however I do think you should read the others in the series if you haven't because, well, they are good and there are some small spoilers in this book that tell you things about the other books (although mostly that they have a HEA, so not so much a spoiler).

I definitely recommend this title.
