ONE LAST TIME BY CORINNE MICHAELS - RELEASE BLITZ

2018-SBPRBANNER-OLT-RB

OLT_FrontCover
From New York Times bestselling author, Corinne Michaels, comes a new heartwarming standalone romance.

I’m getting really good at cutting my losses.

First, the husband. Divorcing him was the best decision I ever made. But between single-parenting and job-hunting, I can’t catch my breath. When a celebrity blogging position falls into my lap, I’m determined to succeed.

That is, until I get my first assignment and actually see Noah Frazier for the first time . . . practically naked and dripping wet. My heart races and I forget how to form complete sentences. His chiseled abs, irresistible smirk, and crystal blue eyes are too perfect to be real. So, what do I do? Get drunk and humiliate myself, of course.

I’m ready to forget the awkward night, yet Noah has no intention of allowing me to move on. Instead, he arranges for me to write a feature on him, ensuring a lot more time together. One embarrassing moment after another, one kiss after another, and before I can stop myself, I realize—I’m falling in love with him.

But when the unthinkable happens, can I even blame him for cutting his losses?

What I wouldn’t give for just one last time . . .

ROCK KING BY TARA LEIGH - BLOG TOUR AND ARC REVIEW

Fans of Kristen Callihan and Kylie Scott will scream for this sizzling bad boy rock star romance!

I'm not who you think I am.

Shane Hawthorne has it all. At least, that's what the headlines say about me. I have millions of fans, awards, more money - and women - than I know what to do with. But what you don't see is the wreckage I've caused. The memories and pain I can't escape, even when I pour them into music and spin them into gold.

I tried to forget. To lose myself in booze and groupies. It didn't work. It hurt me and - worse - it hurt my band. That's the last thing I want to do, so I'm cleaning up my act... starting with Delaney Fraser.

Gorgeous, smart, drama-free, and even nice - Delaney is the perfect "girlfriend." When I'm with her I don't have to pretend. It's like she sees the real me. And I can see a future with her. But that's dangerous. Because the truth is, Shane Hawthorne doesn't actually exist. He's a shield to hide who I really am. Fraud. Runaway. Addict. Murderer.

And it's impossible to love a lie, right?

The Nothing but Trouble series: Rock King Rock Legend Rock Rebel

This book is a rock star romance, and there are certain elements that always exist in this trope.  the rock star is going to be sexy, and at least a bit of a bad boy.  The woman he gets involved with is either going to be hired to be around him, or from a completely different world.  This was all in here...and yet it was done in a way that felt a little different, I think because even though he is tough on the outside, you get Shane's POV and you know that he is pretty much in love with Delaney from about their second meeting.

I liked this.  I liked the story of the bad boy who really relies on the girl.  And, I liked how vulnerable he allowed himself to be.  There are a couple of really heartbreaking moments in the book, both around her possibly leaving or him thinking that she will choose to leave, that really drew me to the character and to the emotion of the story.

I also thought her "secret", the thing she is keeping from Shane and the world was realistic and that Shane's reaction was authentic.  So often, the horrible end of the relationship break up that happens in a romance feels like it is there because the plot requires it (and let's face it, it really often does) but in this title, it felt real.

This is the second title by this author that I have read.  I enjoyed, but didn't love the first one.  This one, however, was very well done and enjoyable from beginning to end.

I recommend this title, and I am looking forward to the next in the series.

My eyes skidded over Delaney, taking in her flushed face and now naked lips, their gloss left behind on her wineglass. I continued my downward trajectory, sweeping over every inch she’d poured into the red dress still scratching at my corneas. “I don’t know what kind of guys you’ve been with before—but I’m with you right now because I think you’re fucking gorgeous. I look at your face and all I see is your perfect mouth, practically begging for me to kiss you.” Finishing the last of my beer, I set the glass on the table. “That night, I could barely tear my eyes away from your ass, like half the guys there. And as for the rest of you, no one needs to tell me that you were made for my touch, Delaney.” I kept my comments focused on Delaney’s physical attributes because everything else—especially this strange connection we seemed to share—made me feel like I was unraveling from the deepest part of me. It was too big, too unruly, to cage in with mere words. But whatever it was, it had kept me from walking away. My heart thudding, I tried to stem the tide of words leaking from my mouth, but they wouldn’t stop. “I don’t want you because Travis told me I should. I want you because...Goddamn it, I’d have to be dead not to.”

RETURN TO US BY CHRISTY PASTORE - RELEASE BLITZ AND ARC REVIEW

I married the man of every woman’s dreams.

My husband is the leading man in their filthy fantasies. I know because they’ve told me.

Matthew Barber is Tinsel Town’s most sought-after movie star and I’m the girl next door. Tinley Atkinson, the former child star with an Ivy League education, and the daughter of a deceased Broadway legend.

Three short years later, it’s all crashing down.

We were the quintessential celebrity couple—Mattley, Hollywood’s Heartthrob and America’s Sweetheart.

We fell in love, and the whole world watched as our fairytale romance unfolded between the pages of glossy magazine spreads and candid moments splashed online.

The public is fascinated with the rumors swirling around us—I’m the jilted wife and he’s the no-good cheater. I’m infertile and years of drug abuse is to blame. He wants kids and I would rather have a career.

He’s the love of my life.

What am I going to do about that?

Marriage is tough and it’s even tougher in Hollywood, I’m ready to fight . . .

For me.

For him.

For us.

Tinley and Matthew are married at the start of the book and, as the blurb tells you, this is a marriage that is struggling, that is having issues with where they are and where they go from here. Tinley grew up in the public eye and has withdrawn from it. Matthew is Hollywood's current it man. So, they meet when they are pursuing different things in their lives, and this is a tension at the beginning, and throughout the marriage...balancing what they each want with the pressures of where they are in their lives, careers and marriage.

This book grabbed me from the beginning, and I was hooked from the last line of the prologue. You really know, as the prologue begins, where Matthew is in the marriage, and where Tinley is, both as a result and as part of how they got to where they are.

The book is told bouncing from present to different points in the past, although after the prologue, you spend a large portion of the book in the past with them getting together and getting to know the characters. And, what I liked about this is you have an idea as to where they each are in the marriage after the prologue, and while you are reading their relationship, their first meeting, the next ones where they start to seem like fate, to guessing middle names and coordinating schedules...you know where it is potentially going to end up.

I loved this. Especially as Christy Pastore is a new author to me, I was pretty sure they would work it out, but at the same time, you never know how an author is going to handle picking up a couple in the middle of a marriage that is at the point where they either need to recommit or walk away. Matthew is charming, and he loves Tinley...and she loves him.

The story is told in alternating POVs, which I think works well, as they deal with some rumors and some doubts and being able, as a reader, to know what is and is not true for each of them helps the reader stay on the side of them working it out, as you like both of them.

This is the first title I have read by this author, and I definitely enjoyed it.

RECKLESS BY LEX MARTIN-RELEASE BLITZ

Title: Reckless
Author: Lex Martin
Genre: Adult Contemporary Romance
Release Date: February 20, 2018

Blurb

Tori…

For the record, I’m not going to hook up with my boss.

I'm a lot of things—a screwup, a basket case, a flunky. But when I take a nanny job to be near my pregnant sister, I swear to myself I’ll walk the straight and narrow, which means I cannot fall for my insanely hot boss.

I don't want to be tempted by that rugged rancher. By his chiseled muscles or southern charm or the way he snuggles his kids at bedtime. Ethan Carter won't get the key to my heart, no matter how much I want him.

Ethan…

Between us, she's the last thing I need as I finalize my hellish divorce.

What sane man trying to rebuild his life wants a hot nanny with long, sexy hair, curves for miles, and a smart mouth? A perfectly kissable, pouty mouth that I shouldn't notice.

My focus is on my kids and my ranch, not the insufferable siren who sleeps in the room next to mine. It doesn't matter that she wins over my kids in a heartbeat or runs my life better than I do. Tori Duran is the one woman I can't have and shouldn't want, no matter how much I crave her.

Whew. This was an emotional read. There was so much for Ethan and Tori. You wanted things to be better for each of them, you like them, you sympathize with them, and you want all of the good things to happen to them. You are angry at the things that happen to them, frustrated with them, there is some angst, and there are moments when Ethan shows just how much Tori means to him that just leave you a little in love with him, and how much he cares for her.

Ethan is a good guy. The way he treats Tori, the way he respects her, the way he loves her for who she is and appreciates her, it's wonderful. Tori is a handful, and there have been some things in her life that have made her feel that who she is as a person isn't quite good enough. I loved that Ethan doesn't see this. Yes, he sees her faults, but he doesn't want her to be anything but who she is.

There is a lot going on. Kids, brothers, ex wives and boyfriends, sisters and parents. It could have felt crowded, but the secondary characters were balanced well and really didn't feel like there was too much time spent with them.

Tori and Ethan have chemistry. They strike sparks against one another from the beginning...although, Ethan's first appearance might have been the hottest first impression of any hero, ever. They fight the chemistry and there is a lot of them ignoring and pretending they don't feel the attraction.

The night under the stars is hot, and romantic, and different, and I loved not only the way it was handled, but the glimpse into how much Ethan really feels for Tori by his actions and the things he does, and doesn't do. I loved the choices he makes for her, the things he does out of respect for Tori and the relationship they are building.

I enjoyed this book, and I recommend it.

LONE STAR LOVERS BY JESSICA LEMMON - ARC REVIEW

This sexy Texan was only a one-night stand.

Until he became her client--then her fake fiance!

Penelope Brand's hookup with billionaire Zach Ferguson was casual. Until he announces her as his fake fiancee to avoid scandal--and she discovers she's pregnant. Now Zach demands they say, "I do," for their child. But Pen won't settle for a sham marriage. If Zach wants to keep his Lone Star lover, it's his whole heart or nothing...

There's a challenge to writing books in which the heroine is pregnant for a good portion of the book.  The author, at least in my opinion, has to convince the reader that the couple would be together even if there was no baby.  A lot of books in this trope suffer here, as the romantic relationship relies too much on the baby and isn't developed to where you believe they are a couple who love one another and their child.

In this case, they were also dealing with having to stay together, or figure out a way to explain splitting up and the baby...because there was also a fake engagement.

Zack and Penelope have everything pointing to them not working: fake engagements; crazy ex's who shriek like their are in the movies (no spoilers, but best line ever); surprise pregnancies; insane family expectations and relationships.  Nothing about the situation is simple, and they face reasons to call it quits often, but they don't.  I loved how well constructed this was, how it heightened the relationship with each test they faced, each conversation really built the relationship and moved it forward.

Penelope wants the romance, and the once in a lifetime love.  Zack has closed himself off from ever falling in love again, and thinks a relationship where they are both committed to being parents and really like each other is enough.

I loved how clever this was, to take where so many of these books seem to build the relationship (around the baby and not the romance) and put it in the forefront of the story by making this exactly what Zack is trying to do, while failing spectacularly because he is falling in love with Penelope.

This, really, is exactly what you want from a romance, at least it is what I want, and it is the reason I read them.  I want the fairy tale, I want the hero to love the heroine (even if it is in spite of himself) and to realize that a life without her isn't what he wants, and that the things he thought mattered, and the things he believed, have all changed now that the heroine is in the picture.

Is this a fairy tale?  Yes, yes it is.  And, this book tells the fairy tale incredibly well.

Challenge accepted and met, Ms. Lemmon wrote a book I believed, and enjoyed.  I recommend this title.

HIS FOR THE WEEK BY ALICE GAINES - ARC REVIEW

Sex columnist Désirée “Rae” Knight is in a bind—and not the kind she usually likes. Her newest assignment, and possible big break, is an article for her magazine on the sex resort that just opened. The only problem is it’s couples only. Although she writes about having red-hot sex, she’s been single longer than she’d like to admit. Enter her coffee shop crush, who she’s been secretly ogling every morning. Trouble is, he doesn’t know she exists.

When Nate Winslow recognizes the shy, quiet woman at Sufficient Grounds as the author of the sex columns that fuel his fantasies, he’s surprised. And the last thing he expects is an invitation to join her at a sex resort. But his answer is hell yes!

Rae and Nate have enough chemistry in the bedroom to set the sheets ablaze. When Rae insists they limit their relationship to sex only, Nate agrees since he’s burned out on love. But the more they push each other’s boundaries, the more they realize one week won’t be enough.

I enjoy the Scorched line, as I know I am going to get a story that is fun, shorter, and sexy/

Desiree/Rae and Nate have an attraction to one another, they see one another at coffee every morning but have never really spoken.  So, when Rae needs someone to join her at a couple's/sex themed resort, she decides Nate is the perfect person to ask.

I enjoyed their conversations and their attraction.  I also liked the parts that took place in the different parts of the resort...but, I was irritated by Rae and her insistence on being Desiree while with Nate.  At first, I understood where she was coming from, and why...but after Nate shows her he is attracted to HER, not Desiree or Rae, for about the 400th time, I was frustrated.  I wanted more time for them to develop their relationship, but they were constantly dealing with the "Nate can't really be attracted to me" story-line, and I wanted more.

I did enjoy this overall.  It was fun, and it had some hot steamy moments.  I do recommend the title.

MR. BLAKELY BY K. WEBSTER - ARC REVIEW

The Dirty Bits from Carina Press give you what you want, when you want it. Designed to be read in an hour or two, these sex-filled microromances are guaranteed to pack a punch and deliver a happily-ever-after.

It started as a job.

It turned into so much more.

Mr. Blakely is strict with his sons, but he’s soft and gentle with me.

The powerful businessman is something else entirely when we’re together.

Boss, teacher, lover…husband.

My hopes and dreams for the future have changed. I want—no, I need—him by my side.

This book is approximately 33,000 words

Editor’s note: All characters in this story are over eighteen and all sexual interactions are fully consensual.

This is marketed as a short, 2 hour, dirty bit, read.  And this is exactly what it was.  Was it realistic?  Nope.  But, was it a quick, hot and sexy read?  Yes, yes it was.

And, here is the thing.  Do I actually believe a man in his 40's can get, and stay, involved in a successful relationship with a woman who is 18 when they get together?  Meh.  I am not sure I think it is likely, but you never know.

That said, this book essentially tells you at the beginning that it is quick and dirty...and knowing that, am I willing to believe that Mr. Blakely (Quinn) and Ava are going to be able to make this work.  Is it realistic?  Probably not.  But, one of the things that makes it easier to believe is a lot of the society pressures, the "you are dating someone who is HOW old???" conversations don't happen.  Quinn never really has to explain anything to anyone with issues and his kids don't seem all that concerned either.

Again; realistic? Nope.  Fun?  Yup.

I recommend this title.
