Forbidden Hearts by Corinne Michaels - ARC Review & Release Blitz

First rule of being a nanny? Don’t fall for the single dad, even if he is smoking hot.

But that’s exactly what happens when grumpy small-town sheriff Asher Whitlock reluctantly hires me to take care of his daughter for the summer. Neither of us is thrilled with the arrangement, but he’s desperate for help, and I need the money for grad school this fall.

All we need to do is keep our distance and remain professional . . . turns out, that’s easier said than done.

Instead of focusing on my future, all I see is the strong jawline, crystal-blue eyes, and rock-hard body right in front of me. We try to resist each other, but we end up crossing every line until I’m in his bed.

I tell myself it’s just this once.

Okay, twice.

All right, every night.

But it’s got to end–he’s fourteen years older than me, with a kid and a stressful job. Have I mentioned my dad is his boss? Then there’s the past I’m trying to forget. Secrets aren’t easy to keep and mine are getting too big to hide.

Walking away is never simple but when I do, I can’t look back.

Even if it means leaving behind the man I was never meant to love.

First, I loved the pacing of this book. Some titles just work better if the couple stays together without the 3rd act break up (not a spoiler as the author's marketing info has this in the teasers and promos) and in this one, in order for me to be able to fully believe the end, they needed to stay together after the thing that might have ended their relationship. That they did really worked for me.

It's also a good job done by the author as by the time the reader gets to this part of the story, you feel like you know Asher so well that any other decision wouldn't work for the character, which makes it really work for the story.

Asher and Phoebe are an age gap, small town, police officer romance and I was all in from the minute I heard the description.

The age gap matters, but not enough to cause real issues for them, aside from the hero remembering her as her younger self, but not in a way that is creepy at all.

Asher is a cop, but it's really not all that central to the story. It's his job and they deal with his schedule, but it's not really a plot line, which worked for me as aside from some small side storylines, this book was focused on Phoebe and Asher.

Their chemistry was amazing and their attraction to one another felt very authentic and believable.

I enjoyed and recommend this title.
