A fake relationship hockey romance - with a twist!
I can't lie, I started this one without reading the blurb and I ended up going back almost immediately to read it to see if, after their first interaction in the book, this was possibly going to be a romance between Tara and Hale.
Yay. It was.
I loved everything about this one. I loved that Tara was upfront about who she is, and about what she wants out of life...and how she plans to go about it. Yes, she has her reasons, and they are good ones, but they are only part of the reason she has the goals she has...and there is something really empowering about that idea. At least, I saw it this way. So often women have things they want that need to be "justified" in order to make them ok...and while there was some of this in the book, I was left feeling like she wants what she wants and isn't going to apologize.
That said, quickly what she wants turns out to be an exploration of the chemistry she has with Hale, even though he only sort of fits with her goals. (Although he thinks he is absolutely able to do so.)
Watching them work this out, while getting past their previous impressions of one another, was great fun. Their chemistry was noticeable from their first interaction on the page, and as a reader I really wanted to see them work things out and find a way that being together still met with both of their goals.
I enjoyed and recommend this title.
