I can't lie, I was curious where this was going to go from pretty much the first page, and it's a tough one to review as there is a huge plot twist that is not in the blurb but matters a lot to for the story of Shep and Sophie...and it matters to the reader.
It also worked...and it didn't. The plot twist, the reason she is out of the dating pool, both works as an interesting new plot device...and made me feel that there were places where we didn't get the full depth of the story between them because of the other thing that was going on. Part of me feels that this impacted the story and the other part of me wonders if it would have worked were it not there, but it is and I have to say with it, I felt something almost lacking in the story.
I really don't know how to describe this, especially without spoilers. I enjoyed it for the story that it was, and for the different plot that it has. Maybe not as much as other titles by this author, but I did enjoy this title.
