Blurb
Never Have I Ever been so infuriated by a man I wanted to kiss.
They say opposites attract, but I beg to differ. Combust is more like it. Because every single time I talk to Zach Nolan, I see red.
The too-good-looking, too-smart, too-effortlessly-charming single dad who works down the hall from me has turned getting under my skin into a sport. Call it the battle of wits between the wedding planner and the divorce attorney.
Trouble is, when we’re forced into closer quarters, planning an engagement party for our best friends, I start to see his other sides.
And I fear I’m falling for the enemy.
***
I’m not out to make friends. My goals are simple - fight till the end for my clients, and my family.
The last thing I need is a vibrant, outgoing, snarky, and surprisingly big-hearted wedding planner to spend my precious free time with...except, watching Piper bond with my daughter just might break down the cinder block walls I’ve built around my heart these last few years.
Second chances don’t come around for guys like me...or do they?
Piper and Zach were an absolute delight to get to know. They're part of the same group of friends, but not exactly friendly initially which just made their interactions that much more fun. The banter between them had me smiling, and the way their relationship evolved just felt so natural and organic. I fell for Zach before Piper did; he just absolutely had my heart from the very start. These characters felt real and like people I would want to hang out with-so I'm ready to join their group of friends.
As mentioned above, Zach is a single dad. The interactions he has with his kids in this book were so incredible. I loved watching him figure out how to balance everyone and their needs-including his own. He's smart, sexy and has a sweet side that just made me melt. Piper is much the same way-and her kind and giving heart just made me smile.
The writing of this book is just superb. It's witty and fun and it just flows perfectly. I personally love how this Author weaves in characters (and places!) we've met before, but this is absolutely enjoyable as a standalone.
These narrators brought this book to life for me. I adore Jason Clarke (who doesn't) and I love all of his different tones and inflections for different characters. Amanda Ronconi was newer to me but her timing and tone were just impeccable. These two played off each other seamlessly and just were delightful to listen to. I didn't want to stop listening to this story!
I would honestly give this more stars for both the performance and the story if I could. I truly believe these narrators nailed these characters and brought them to life so very well. As for the story, I said before and I'll say again that this is one of my favorite Lauren Blakely books. This is heart, humor and heat with a side of sweet. I loved it and can't wait to listen again.
