I was all in on this one with the blurb, and in a lot of ways I really enjoyed Kade and Chloe. I believed in their connection and as this was an insta-love (the entire story happens in the space of about two weeks) I also believed in the story arc and that it would end up as it did.
There is a third act break up in the story and if they had been together longer, it wouldn't have worked as well, so in this setting, and with them only being together for a short time, I was willing to believe in the way it was handled as authentic for the characters.
I did think the resolution of his secret life as a rodeo star was a little quick to make it believable, which did make the payoff of that not quite feel as authentic as I was hoping for. I think there wasn't quite enough time spent with Kade's family, so you didn't feel like you got to know them to even have an idea how they might react to his secret.
This is a standalone. It's the second in the series, and I haven't read the first one, but didn't feel lost in this story at all. This is my first title by this author and I will definitely read others.
