Perfume Girl by Vanessa Fewings-ARC Review

Blurb:

True passion can't be bottled.

A stolen formula. A seductive suspect. A dangerous romance.

Raquel Wren’s world has fallen apart. Her husband has divorced her. Close friends have abandoned her. The money has run out. The pieces of a once idyllic life have completely crumbled. And now, the only thing that can save Raquel from total ruin…

...has been stolen.

Raquel is the owner of the small town boutique store Perfume Girl, a quaint location offering bottled scents from around the globe, including her own personal formulas. Creating perfume has been a passion since she was a little girl, but her latest work, a scent years in the making, is her masterpiece. The one that will make her mark on the industry and save her life in the process.

But now it’s gone. Stolen right from her shop. All would be lost if Raquel didn’t feel she knew who was behind the theft. Devastated to her core, she decides to do something about it.

Astor Beauregard is the sexy, enigmatic owner of House of Beauregard, the renowned cologne empire based in the notorious city of South Beach, Miami. It’s within this luxurious kingdom that Raquel will delve to unravel the mystery of the crime, a path that will lead her directly to Astor, sparking an unforgettable passion while uncovering a shocking truth.

It’s on the famous, sun-soaked, salsa-fueled streets of South Beach that USA Today Bestselling Author Vanessa Fewings releases PERFUME GIRL, a heart-racing romance novel that will have readers feeling the heat like never before.

In this new STAND-ALONE novel, a fiery romance is ignited, one that will burn its way to a stunning revelation.

Vanessa Fewings is one of those authors...when you start one of her books, you know you are going to go on one heck of a ride. It's going to be interesting, it's going to have twists and turns you are not expecting, and it is going to be full of great settings, steamy romance, and just enough intrigue to keep you interested and guessing.

Raquel and Astor check all of the boxes. Their chemistry is amazing, their attraction is both interesting and a little bit forbidden...employer/employee...corporate spy? Thief? All they know for sure, is that they are attracted to one another, and that maybe they shouldn't be...and that nothing about this is going to be simple.

The perfume world also felt different, like this wasn't a setting I had encountered before...or if I had, that I hadn't read it handled in quite the same way. I felt this way about the Icon series as well (set in the art world, you should check it out if you haven't) and I was excited to read this one, as going into it, I expected it to feel different than anything I had read before. I wasn't disappointed.

I loved this book. It's not a short read, as it is complex with characters that are well developed and stories that have an arc that isn't simple...but, this is one of the things I loved about it. I felt like I got time to know the characters, to care about them, to know what they would do and this made the story all that much more interesting and engaging.

I enjoyed and recommend this title.
