MISTER HOCKEY BY LIA RILEY-VIRTUAL TOUR

Her biggest fantasy is about to become a reality. . .

MISTER HOCKEY
Hellion's Angels #1
Lia Riley
Releasing July 11, 2017
Avon Impulse

Jed West is Mr. Hockey. The captain of the NHL’s latest winning team, the Denver Hellions—and the hottest player on the ice—at least according to every magazine. .and Breezy Angel. Breezy has been drooling over Jed at games for years, and he plays a starring role in her most toe-curling fantasies. But dirty dreams don’t come true, right?

Then Jed saunters through the doors of her library, a last minute special guest for a summer reading event, and not only is he drop dead gorgeous up close, his personality is straight up swoon-worthy. He even comes to the rescue when she has an R-rated “Super Book Worm” costume malfunction. But when he mistakenly assumes she’s more into books than pucks, she’s too flustered to correct his mistake. And then comes a big kiss, followed by a teensy-tiny problem. Jed’s dating policy is simple: Never date a fan.

So what’s a fangirl going to have to do to convince her ultimate crush that he’s become less of a perfect fantasy, and more like the perfect man. . .for her?

This is my first title by Lia Riley, and I enjoyed it overall.  I liked the characters, although at times I did find it a little difficult to fully relate to Breezy.

Jed was likeable and easy for me.  I know what it is like to have outside pressures and realities that cause you to evaluate things differently, and I think we all do, as that is life experience.  he was real to me, and getting to know him felt like I was learning about a real person.

Breezy, however, felt less developed to me and I thought her storyline was a little predictable.  not enough to ruin the story, but enough to create what felt like an imbalance with the characters where I found myself enjoying the parts that were about Jed more than the parts with Breezy.

I enjoyed the overall story, and I liked the characters enough that I was engaged with the story and did care what was happening and how they resolved their story and got to their happily ever after.

As I mentioned, this is the first book I have read by this author, and I will definitely read others in the future.

I do recommend this title.

After studying at the University of Montana-Missoula, Lia Riley scoured the world armed only with a backpack, overconfidence and a terrible sense of direction. She counts shooting vodka with a Ukranian mechanic in Antarctica, sipping yerba mate with gauchos in Chile and swilling fourex with stationhands in Outback Australia among her accomplishments.

Q&A with Lia Riley

A la Twitter style, please describe your book in 140 characters or less.
Curvy, nerdy librarian gets a chance to score with her fantasy crush, the captain of the Denver hockey team.
What did you enjoy most about writing this book?
I really enjoyed two things about writing this book: Breezy Angel and Jed West. I have always loved the trope about the so-called “ordinary” person who falls for a celebrity who in turn views them as nothing short of “extraordinary.” Probably one of the reason that Notting Hill is one of my all-time favorite movies. I wanted Jed to be alpha in the bedroom and obviously an amazingly talented athlete, but I didn’t want to right him as a one-dimensional “bro.” Instead, I wanted him to be a good guy, someone supportive of team mates and his woman. A natural leader who thrives by building up those around him, most importantly his lady. And as for Breezy, I wanted to write a woman who wasn’t drop-dead model perfect. I don’t know women like that in real life, and I want to see people in line around me at the grocery store get a chance to have their own swoony, earth-shattering happy ever after moments too!

Can you tell us about your upcoming book?
I am so excited for readers to get their hands on Book Two in the Hellions Angels series. Head Coach is coming out on November 21st and features (wait for it) Hellions Head Coach, Tor Gunnar and his enemies-to-lovers relationship with determined sports journalist Neve Campbell. There is hate kissing, a bet over a game of air hockey and a fake date to a wedding. Also, it’s one of the sexiest books I’ve ever written.
And don’t forget about Virgin Territory about the team goalie who is not only an almost-priest who was kicked out of seminary school, but also has a reputation for brawling. Plus he may or may not be a virgin hero.
If you had a theme song, what would it be?
Don’t Stop Believing by Journey…because I’m mostly an optimist, plus I would take immense satisfaction creating ear worms every where I went.
If you had to title your own life what would it be and why?

Top Five Sexy Hockey Players
By Lia Riley

We all know hockey players are hot as puck. Here are five NHL players I’d love to have a face off with, and by face off I mean stare at and drool over. Who are your favorite hockey gods? Tell me in the comments, bonus point if you link to a pic J
In no particular order because all get two solid thumbs up:
1.      Sidney Crosby, Captain of the Pittsburgh Penguins (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sidney_Crosby). He has boyish good looks and Tom Hardy lips, can’t ask for more than that!

2.      P.K Subban, Defenceman for the Nashville Predators (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/P._K._Subban). His eyes could melt ice, plus he won Olympic gold in 2014 Sochi Olympics.

3.      Joffrey Lupul, Left winger for Toronto Maple Leafs (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Joffrey_Lupul). He likes to play the guitar too, so not only is he pretty, he can also croon you a love song. Plus that jaw bone could cut glass.

4.      Tyler Seguin, Center for the Dallas Stars (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tyler_Seguin) Three words: Full. Sleeved. Tattoos. (nuff said)

5.      Darnell Nurse, Defenceman for the Edmonton Oilers (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Darnell_Nurse). Not only is he 6’3 of pure yum, he also roots for his sister who plays basketball for Team Canada. That makes him a hero in my book!

MAKE ME STAY BY SIDNEY HALSTON-VIRTUAL TOUR

Secret identities, second chances, drama, desire:
It’s all going down in Miami Beach

MAKE ME STAY
Panic #2
Sidney Halston
Releasing June 27th, 2017
Loveswept

Secret identities, second chances, drama, desire: It’s all going down in Miami Beach in this tantalizing novel from the bestselling author of Pull Me Close, which was hailed by Aurora Rose Reynolds as “a heart-gripping story about . . . the power of love.”

April: Walking away from Matt Moreno was the hardest thing I’ve ever done. Lying to him was a close second, but for his safety, I had no other choice. I was undercover, working to put some nasty people behind bars. But when Matt nearly recognizes me on Lincoln Road a year later, all those very real feelings come rushing back. Now that my assignment’s almost over, will he understand why I lied? Why I had to leave? Most important, can he ever forgive me?

Matt: I was madly in love with June Simpson . . . or, at least, with the woman I thought was June. Then she just disappeared while my family’s nightclub went through hell. And after months of searching, when I think I’ve finally found that sexy, raspy voice and those exquisite blue eyes, she slips away once more. Turns out, “June” is actually Detective April White. She’s been playing me the whole time. And she’s about to rock my world all over again.

THE RIGHT RANGER BY DONNA MICHAELS-VIRTUAL TOUR

It's time to claim what's his...

THE RIGHT RANGER
The Men of At Ease Ranch #3
Donna Michaels
Releasing June 12, 2017
Entangled Lovestruck

Haley Wagner’s life just got a lot more complicated. As if turning her struggling ranch around isn’t tough enough, she’s forced to call him for help. With his hard eyes and even harder body, Cord is an irritatingly sexy contradiction of hot and cold. How can she possibly hide her embarrassing secret when just looking at Cord is a combustible event?

Former Army Ranger Cord Brannigan has a secret, too. He promised his fallen teammate he’d protect the tempting, fiercely independent Haley from a distance, but now they’re stuck together for three weeks. Alone. Keeping his hands off will take every ounce of control he can muster. And that control is slipping…

The blurb for this book sucked me in. The friends to lovers trope is one of my favorites and when you toss in a former army ranger? Well sign me up. This is part of a series but can be read as a standalone. This book had heat and heart to go along with it.

I liked Haley. I thought she was a strong woman who had been dealt a raw deal a few times. She's dusted herself off and is trying to make a living doing something she loves and is passionate about. I enjoyed her determination to succeed-it was one of her great strengths. That being said, she isn't perfect and I liked that, too. She was a relatable heroine.

Cord was straight up sexy. There's something about a man who tries to live his life by a certain code, only to be tempted to break it and realize that his loyalty was in the wrong place. Cord's journey in this book was a big deal. I sympathized with what he'd been through; it broke my heart a bit. But he was a strong character hell bent on doing the right thing-even if it wasn't the best thing for himself.

These two definitely had chemistry. They try so valiantly to fight it but them coming together is just inevitable. And it works. The pacing of their relationship works well for them. Their sexy times? Definitely hot.

Now, there was something that bothered me a bit throughout the book. It's a bit of a spoiler so I'm going to be intentionally vague. I definitely thought that Cord's loyalty was misplaced for a few reasons, and it just didn't seem to match with his character in the rest of the book.

Overall I enjoyed this book. The writing was sharp and quick, the pacing was strong. Again, it's the third in a series but I had no problem following it as a standalone. The secondary characters were fun and intrigued me enough to go back and purchase the other books. I would recommend this book.

Tasty Q&A with Donna Michaels

Describe yourself in five words or less.
I love to entertain readers.

Name one thing you won’t leave home without.
My cellphone. Yep, I’m one of them. But only because I am usually waiting for an email or message from an author, publisher, editor…etc, and need to multitask my personal life errands into my day, too.

What types of scenes are your most favorite to write?
My favorite scenes to write are the sparring scenes between the hero and heroine. When the hero has met his match, or vice versa . There were several of those scenes in The Right Ranger.

Are there certain characters you would like to go back to, or is there a theme or idea you’d love to work with?
Yes, there are several characters I’d love to go back to, but shhh…don’t tell my other ones. The two that immediately come to mind are Kit Katt and Pierce DeVein from my humorous paranormal, The Spy Who Fanged Me. They are agents from different departments. She’s a black panther shifter and he’s a vampire and they’re forced to work together to bring down a dangerous gnome. Kit was by far the most fun I ever had writing a heroine. Between her can do attitude, her capabilities, and the fact she has catlike tendencies that get in the way at the most inopportune times, I would love to write another mission for her and her man/vampire. 😊

Can you tell us about your upcoming book?
Right now, I’m writing book 4 in The Men of At Ease Ranch series. This is Vince’s book. He’s been the easygoing happy guy throughout the series, and longs to have a relationship like his buddies have found. But, it’s like they say, be careful what you wish for. He’s discovering that his idea of the ideal significant other is flawed, relationships aren’t always easy, and they come when you least expect it. He is definitely one of my fun characters to write.
