PLEASE ME BY J. KENNER-REVIEW AND EXCERPT TOUR

From New York Times Bestselling author J. Kenner comes PLEASE ME, a new novella in her Stark Ever After Series, brought to you by 1,001 Dark Nights! Be sure to grab your copy today!

From New York Times and USA Today bestselling author J. Kenner comes a new story in her Stark Ever After series…

Each day with Damien is a miracle, each moment with our children a gift. And yet I cannot escape the growing sense that a storm is gathering, threatening to pull me away, to rip us apart. To drag me down, once again, into a darkness to which I swore never to return.
I have to fight it—I know that. And I am waging the battle with of all my heart. But it is Damien who is my strength, and we both know that the only way to push away the darkness is for him to fold me in his arms and claim me completely. And for me to surrender myself, once again, to the fire that burns between us.

I always enjoy sneak peeks into the lives of Damien and Nikki Stark. If you haven't read any of the Stark books, I wouldn't recommend just jumping in with this book. I enjoyed this short glimpse into their lives.

I like Nikki and Damien; I always have. I like their journey and how they've gotten to where they are. I love their chemistry and connection. It's unbreakable. Does it get tested? Absolutely. But they fight for each other in ways that only they can.

This was a steamy little novella in spots, which with these characters and this author I've come to expect. I fanned myself more than once for sure!

I thought this plot moved well, even if I did think it was a little predictable in spots. The writing was tight and the characters, and their reactions/actions, were believable. I did truly enjoy getting a glimpse back into Nikki and Damien's lives. I would recommend this book.

UNEXPECTED BY ALEATHA ROMIG-REVIEW AND EXCERPT TOUR

*Paul* What will happen... when Jenn learns the truth that has been brewing deep inside me? ...when she learns my desires have been restrained? ...when containing them is no longer possible? Will she flee when there’s no place to run? Traveling to the isolation of a tropical island, we agree to lay our marriage and our future on the line. It’s the only way to face the demons—my demons—that threaten our life together. For us to make our marriage work, we must break down barriers, reveal the hidden places, and shine light where darkness has taken root. This reprieve from life is meant to be about us, our marriage, and our future. It is...until the unexpected happens... Will our marriage survive? Will we?

This suspenseful, steamy stand-alone novella follows Paul and Jenn Masters, characters previously introduced in the novella UNCONVENTIONAL. This quick, spicy story may be read completely on its own or even before UNCONVENTIONAL.

If you enjoy a fast and furious, heart-thundering ride that leaves you breathless and perhaps a bit hot and bothered, check out New York Times bestselling author Aleatha Romig’s THE VAULT novellas: UNCONVENTIONAL and UNEXPECTED. Have you been Aleatha’d?

AVAILABLE NOW!

This was a fun, quick, hot story that actually had a lot of depth mixed in with the sex. It definitely went a direction I wasn't expecting, which was refreshing.

Paul and Jenn don't want to get divorced. Much to the surprise of their divorce attorney. So, they decide to take their marriage counselor's advice and get away, just them, to see if they can put their relationship back together.

A little sex, ok a lot, and some honesty and they are well on their way to working thin us out.

The ride to get there and the twists ....and turns... you are going to have to read them for yourself. I promise you'll enjoy it.

I recommend this title.

I close my eyes and allow my body to simply react. It’s been too long. It seems as if recently I’ve overthought everything—every action...word...everything—between Paul and me. The process is exhausting, and I’m too tired to continue. I don’t know what will happen over the next ten days. All I know is that I want what’s in front of me. Forget that. I want what’s intoxicating me—my husband’s embrace, the spicy scent of his skin, the way his erection probes my tummy through our clothes, and the sweet sensation of his kiss. Sex may not save our marriage, but damn, right now as our kiss deepens, I’m on fire. Like a field of grass that’s withstood a drought, the flames grow. Small explosions detonate throughout my body—tiny flares roaring to a blaze and blasting our world. Each is a reminder that there’s been only one man who has ever made me feel completely and utterly loved, worshipped, and satisfied. The one man who is with me now. A moan escapes my lips as Paul reaches for the hem of my sundress and lifts it over my head. Just as quickly, he tugs off his own shirt, and I’m surrounded by his strong arms. His wide chest smashes against my breasts, and our hearts work together, the presence of the other increasing their rhythm. The faint taste of the salt air lingers on my lips as I kiss his neck, chest, and torso.

MIXED UP LOVE BY NATASHA MADISON-REVIEW AND EXCERPT TOUR

Hunter

When my business partner asked me to do him a favor, I had no idea he was sending me on a blind date his mother arranged for him. I walked in the bar, saw the woman drinking her third martini, and knew I was in for an eventful night. After the unexpected second date, she didn't know my real name or who I really was. By that time, the lie was too far gone, and I wanted her too much to admit the truth. Laney It's not every day you find out your ex-boyfriend is engaged. I shouldn't have agreed to the blind date. My mother insisted, and I wasn’t in any position to turn down a night out. I will admit, I definitely shouldn't have ordered that fourth martini before said blind date even arrived. The man turned out to be swoon worthy, handsome, condescending—a perfect distraction. Then I found out he was a liar. I've never been in over my head to this degree. Then again, I've never been in love.

I knew I wanted to read this book for a few different reasons. The blurb caught my eye, the cover was sexy and it's a Natasha Madison book. I love her writing style and Mixed Up Love was full of the sassy and sexy characters I've come to expect from this author. This premise was something really new to me so I couldn't wait to see how the story would unfold. This was a quick, fun read.

I liked Laney. She was funny, smart and had some sass to her. I love her loyalty to her friends and family. She's the kind of woman I'd want as a friend so I was really rooting for her to find her happy ever after.

Hunter...I loved him. His overprotective, sexy, swoony self. I liked his style, even if I did think he went a bit overboard at times. It's what made him, him. I enjoyed seeing him interact with all of the characters and I really did fall for him. He was a good book boyfriend.

There's obvious attraction between Hunter and Laney right from the start. It's palpable and believable. I like that the mistaken identity was dealt with rather quickly and didn't drag on. There was no denying these two were meant to be. Their sexy times were sexy, but I loved seeing their relationship develop outside the bedroom as well.

The supporting characters were really fun here. They didn't overshadow Hunter and Laney, but their personalities easily could have. The author really achieved the perfect balance with them supporting and not overwhelming. That being said, I wouldn't mind reading books about any of the other characters...

I thought this was a really fun and unique book. The writing was sharp, funny where it needed to be, and on point. The pacing worked well. I read this book in one sitting and it was a fast and fun read. I definitely recommend this book.

I adored the set up of this...going on someone else's blind date, because they have found what they think is something better, and finding the love of your life. And, when you get there, actually being attracted to the person. That, right there, tells you this book is fiction...as, really, when does a blind date actually work out? The answer to that, is they work out pretty well when you are in a book written by Natasha Madison.

Hunter and Laney are not destined to meet, have an amazing blind date, and stay together...until they are. The attraction, the connection is instant. And, Hunter feels instantly guilty. I liked this. And, I loved that this "lie" doesn't carry on through a lot of the book as this is a pet peeve of mine, and it's a trope I don't always connect well with. Nothing to worry about here.

Sex swing accidents, misunderstandings, meddling friends and parents, and an inability to give up on one another allow this one to work out. It's hot, steamy, and enjoyable. You enjoy the connection between them, their willingness to see it through, and their willingness to not give up on the other when pushed away made this an enjoyable read.

I enjoyed and I recommend this title.

I pull up to the front door, and the valet meets me at my door once I stop. “Good evening, sir,” he says once I open my door. “Yeah, I won’t be here long,” I tell him as I get out, not bothering to take off my sunglasses when I hand him the keys. “No worries, sir. It will be here when you are ready,” he says, handing me the ticket for later. I put it in the inside pocket of my suit jacket. I walk inside to the hostess table, where a woman who looks like she is eighteen stands smiling. “How may I help you?” she asks sweetly. I stop and look around to see if I might recognize the woman I’m here to meet, even though I’ve never met her. I spot a couple of women at the bar, but I instinctively know they aren’t her. I also check for exits. It’s not my fault; it’s just instilled in me. Looking to the left, I don’t see anyone sitting alone, but then I look to the right, and I see her. I don’t know why I know it’s her, but I just do. With curly long blond hair, she downs a martini, then picks up another one and brings it to her mouth. I spot a waiter walking with two more martinis on his tray, and I’m not surprised when I see him approaching her table. “Great,” I say under my breath. “I found her,” I tell the hostess and start walking toward the table. She spots me and watches my every move. Luckily, the glasses I’m wearing stop her from seeing my eyes. The closer I get to her, the more my pulse speeds up. What the fuck? This is weird. I look around maybe to see if something else is piquing my interest or maybe I spotted something to elevate my pulse, but no, it’s her. The fact that a gorgeous woman is sitting by herself and drinking like a fish is enough to get any man’s adrenaline pumping. Isn’t it? “Are you Laney?” I ask, taking off my glasses, and my gray eyes finally meet her blue ones. She opens her mouth, expecting, I think, something to come out, but nothing does. I continue looking around to see if anyone is watching her, and it’s no surprise that I spot two guys at the bar sizing her up. “Here are two more.” The waiter smiles at her, putting two more glasses down on the table and taking the two now empty ones away. She laughs nervously, and I want to reach out and trip him when he walks away. “It isn’t what it looks like.” Her soft voice breaks me out of my plan, and I turn back to her as she smiles at me, causing my heartbeat to skyrocket. The collar of my shirt suddenly feels tight, but it’s not even buttoned. “Really? I find it hard to believe,” I finally say. Looking around again, I spot the same two guys in suits sitting at the bar watching her. This time, one of them spots me and looks back down at his drink. “It looks like you’re sitting here waiting for something bad to happen.” I pull out the chair and sit in front of her. “Um.” She still doesn’t say anything.

When her nose isn't buried in a book, or her fingers flying across a keyboard writing, she's in the kitchen creating gourmet meals. You can find her, in four inch heels no less, in the car chauffeuring kids, or possibly with her husband scheduling his business trips. It's a good thing her characters do what she says, because even her Labrador doesn't listen to her...

*Coming to other retailers June 2018

The 1001 Dark Nights titles are favorites of mine. Based, loosely, on Scheherazade and the tales of the Arabian Nights, each story is short but tells a full and compelling story... which if you know the legend, that's the whole point.

Caine is security for an MC club.

Emma is a kindergarten teacher.

A match made in heaven, right? No issues and smooth sailing.

Oddly, it absolutely is. Yes, there are relationship hurdles, but these people just work together.

In Emma, Caine finds acceptance and a willingness to trust. She understands him, she gets who he is and why he does the things he does.

In Caine, Emma finds the connection with another human being that's been lacking in her life since her grandmother's death.

This is a shorter novella, so the characters aren't as fully developed as they might be in a longer title, but I felt I got a full story. With a resolution in a relationship I could believe in, and that made this a fun read.

That and the crazy hot sex. That was fun too.

I recommend this title.

I've really gotten hooked on J. Kenner's writing this year. She has a knack for just drawing me in to her stories and characters. Wicked Torture, the third book in her Stark World, was no different. This emotional second chance romance pulled me in right from the start.

Noah...oh, tortured Noah. He's a pretty great book boyfriend. He's loyal, hot, sexy...and definitely haunted. He definitely has some issues to work through and overcome and he has to do it on his own time, at his own pace. The author doesn't rush him. There were moments I wanted to shake him, yes, but I really wanted to hug him.

Kiki had her own heartbreak to deal with, and she did so in much the same way as Noah. I had a bit of a disconnect with her initially but quickly started rooting for her once I got her. She was protective of her heart, rightfully so. I completely saw where she was coming from.

You can feel the connection between these two. The spark is there and it was believable for me. The sexy times were sexy and hot, which I've come to expect from this author. There was a bit more of an emotional pull to this book for me with these characters. They'd both been through so much so it was very gratifying to watch them pursue their happy ever after.

As always, the writing here was crisp and clean. I feel the pacing worked well and I was rooting for these characters from the start. While this is the third book set in the Stark World for the Author it can be enjoyed as a standalone. I recommend this book and look forward to what this Author will do next!

A second chance romance needs to have a good reason for me to believe that the couple will not only be able to get over their past but will be able to do so enough to move forward.

This book had one of the best reasons I have ever encountered, and I read a lot of the second chance romance trope as it is a favorite of mine.

J. Kenner writes the story of Noah and Kiki as 2 people who were separated by circumstance, and then by their own inner demons and makes you want them to be together. The chemistry and the sexual attraction is instant, and it is brought to the "now" through their current relationship. The romance, and the relationship builds on the foundation given by their past, but also builds new as they learn to trust one another and their relationship.

The writing and the pacing are excellent and you feel the connection with the characters and the build up of the relationship makes it feel real.

I recommend this title

Time to heal. Somehow, though, he never found the enthusiasm. Or maybe that was just an excuse. Another way of punishing himself for walking away from the woman he loved in favor of the woman he’d owed. And since he’d never have either of them again, he needed to kick his own ass, pick up the pieces of his life, and start building something real. After all, there wasn’t a tech gadget he couldn’t design, build, or repair. So why was he so clueless when it came to his own damn life? It was time, and it would be easy. Painless even, because God knew Evie embodied everything he admired in a woman. Strength. Intelligence. Ambition. Humor. Beauty. She was as desirable as Lyle had promised and obviously enthusiastic. In other words, he was all out of excuses. He stood up, intending to tell her to lead the way. But the words that came out of his mouth shocked them both. “I’m sorry, Evie,” he said. “You’ve been wonderful, but I have an early meeting, and I should probably get home.” “Oh.” He’d surprised her as she was rising, and now she teetered awkwardly on her heels, as if his unexpected words would physically topple her. He reached out a hand to steady her, and for the briefest moment, he considered pulling her close and fighting his way past his hesitation. She was everything he should want in a woman—with the unfortunately insurmountable problem that she wasn’t what he wanted at all. Or, rather, she wasn’t who he wanted. Goddamn him. Goddamn his stupid, unrealistic fantasies. And while he was at it, goddamn Kiki, too. He was being an idiot and unfair, and he knew it. An idiot, because he’d made his choice to walk away from Kiki long ago, and he knew damn well that he’d shattered her in the process. Even if he could have seen his way clear to look her up after all these years, he’d forfeited his right to come crawling back. Unfair, because not ten minutes ago he’d been ready to take the plunge with Evie, and yet here he was, dodging and shifting like a damn coward, trying to swim up out of the deep black ocean of loss and pain. A familiar pain that wrapped him like a blanket, so cloying it was almost comfortable. And he knew damn well that there was only one way to fight it—he needed to take the girl to her room and try to fuck the darkness out of him. The way he’d done with countless other women. The way that never worked like it should. That only dulled the sharp edges of his pain, but added no light to the darkness. That wasn’t what he wanted. Not anymore. One of the reasons he’d moved to Austin was to heal, after all. To heal, and to break bad habits. Still, it was tempting, and it took more strength than he expected to shake his head again and say very gently, “I really am sorry. I’m not … ready.” She’d been polite enough not to mention the tragedy in his past, but he was certain that Lyle must have at least told her that he’d lost his wife and daughter. Hopefully, that softened the blow of rejection. She’d regained her footing, and now she stepped back, her forehead creased as her eyes flicked over him, expertly assessing him as she would a witness. “It’s been almost nine years, I’m told.” The sharp edge of her voice sliced his heart. So much for softening the blow. “If you don’t get ready soon, I can’t help but think you’re going to end up sad and alone.” With a thin, sympathetic smile, she turned and walked away, leaving him to watch her go and wonder at her perceptiveness. Because she was right. He was going to end up sad and alone. Hell, he already was.
