Don’t fall for your ex … famous last words.
Conned out of my business I have no other choice but to move back home to Chicago. I’m determined to rebuild everything, but I’m so broke that I can’t even afford to pay rent. Then my first love, Sam Maxwell, unexpectedly pops back into my life and turns out to be my knight in shining armor.
When he offers to share an apartment, I’m eager to accept. After all, it's been fifteen years since I last saw him, and we hardly know each other anymore. But I was wrong—so very wrong. The second we move in together, I realize I’m in over my head: Sam is even hotter than I remember.
More daring. More shameless. More…everything.
And the spark I’d thought was long gone rekindles and neither of us tries to stop it. Sam Maxwell is my past and my present.
And he may be my future too.
I enjoy second chance romances, and I liked the twist in this that had Avery and Sam ending up as roommates and convincing themselves that they could be just friends, even with their romantic history.
For a second chance to work for me, I need to believe the reason for the initial separation...and, in this one, I did and I didn't. I did because it happened when they were young, but I am not sure I was really sold on the reason for their split years before.
That said, while I am not sure I believed their separation, I definitely believed their connection in the present, and I enjoyed their story as they figured out that they were destined to be a couple.
I am not sure the inclusion of some of the subplot was definitely necessary, and it felt a little tossed in and then quickly resolved, so it did pull me a little bit out of the story as it didn't really feel necessary or like it moved the story forward.
All in all, I did enjoy this title, their connection, and I do recommend this title.
