Kincaid by Laurelin Paige - ARC Review

Past and present weave together in Donovan’s point of view for the next chapter in Donovan and Sabrina’s life.

She was supposed to save me.

In a twist of fate, I rescued her. Since then, I’ve lived for her, breathed for her, overreached with my love.

She’s still here, so I must be doing something right. But now I want more.

Except, a dangerous secret from my past threatens to come between us, forcing me to confront what kind of man I am.

And whether I’m the one who can save our future.

Or whether fate has other plans for us.

This book follows the Dirty Duet. It’s not necessary to read all the books in the Dirty Universe before reading this, but it is recommended for a better reading experience.

This was the book I didn't know I needed...and I definitely needed it. Donovan, Sabrina, and to a certain extent the other characters in this world all had their stories and their happy endings, and I thought I was ready to move on. But one of the things I love most about Laurelin Paige is her ability to write men who are real, and interesting, and complex, so the idea of a book about this man, and from his POV has been exciting from the second I found out she was writing it. And it didn't disappoint.

Donovan and Sabrina have always been a favorite of mine, but this book added to their story in a fabulous way, and it changed not only how the reader sees each of them, but how they see one another, and it was a fascinating journey. It's impossible to explain this without going into details of not only this story, but the others, so I will say it was the perfect additional glimpse into their lives and it never felt frivolous or unnecessary.

This is not a standalone. You need to have read the first 2 books in this duet in order to really understand what happens in this one. Now, could you read this without the others? Sure, and it would make sense, but it would be like only watching half of a movie...you figure it out, but you miss the other parts that make the story even better.

I enjoyed and recommend this title.
