Getting Real by Emma Chase - ARC Review & Release Blitz
A sexy, hilarious, emotional, new romance from New York Times bestselling author Emma Chase.
Connor Daniels never thought he’d be starting over at dating square one. His career as a successful doctor, and his three boys, are everything to him. It’s not exactly a setup conducive to a scorching love life—but he’s giving it a shot.
ER nurse Violet Robinson never intended for Connor to find out she’s had a crush on him forever. It was a dirty little secret only meant for her dirty dreams. Her heart trips every time he’s around—and so do her feet.
When Connor sees Violet coasting across the grocery store parking lot—and she falls on her face—he starts falling for the gorgeous, young nurse right back.
Dating can be tricky. And life can be beautiful and crazy and unpredictable. But when it gets real, you discover what matters most . . . and the one person you want loving you through it all.
This isn't my first title by Emma Chase, but I haven't read many of her books previously...and this one has my wondering why that's true. I'm definitely thinking I'm missing something and I want to read her other titles...ASAP.
I was charmed and all in with Connor and Violet from the first page. There's just sobering about both of them that you just like from the first time you met each of them.
The internal dialogue is perfection throughout and through the things they say, you get to know and adore both of them. And, it feels so real, like they are people you might know and the thoughts in their head, and their reactions, seem very authentic.
This book was funny. Funnier than I'd expected, and the scene in the cafeteria with the wall was literally laugh out loud funny...not what happened, necessarily, but the internal dialogue while it was happening. I think we've all been there...or at least in a similar way, but the writing is such that while you laugh at the characters, you also laugh with them.
It was something like 3am when I finished this one. I couldn't put it down...and I didn't want to. And I blame the author as right about when I was thinking I was getting tired, something happens that made me fully aware I wasn't getting sleep any time soon.
And that's the best kind of book.
I enjoyed and recommend this title.
I absolutely adore Emma Chase's writing and I have been chomping at the bit for this book. I didn't need the blurb, though once I read it I NEEDED this book even more. This book is sweet, funny, sexy, emotional and just the total package. I didn't want this to end and let me be real here, it's one I've already revisited.
Violet warmed my heart and made me smile. She is unapologetically real and 100% herself. She's funny, loyal, smart and sweet. I loved getting to know her. This is a woman I would be friends with in real life for sure.
Connor Daniels. My sweet, yet clueless, Connor. While this book is a standalone I've met Connor before in other Emma Chase books and was definitely intrigued by him. Let me tell you, he did not disappoint. He's smart and sexy-but seriously a little clueless when it comes to Violet which is cute. I loved watching him with his boys and his family-and I loved watching him fall hard for Violet.
These two had such a natural relationship development. It was very believable-and fun. They made me laugh and they had me fanning myself with their sexy times. Watching them figure each other out had me sighing and smiling.
There are so many awesome supporting characters here-but none of them steal the show, which is important. They support and enhance. As for me, I was excited to catch up with some of these other characters. I swear nobody does the banter between siblings as well as Emma Chase. I truly felt like I was part of this book.
I have also listened to this book. If you aren't an audiobook fan I beg you to try this one. Andi Arndt and Zachary Webber give perfect voice to Violet and Connor. The emotions these two put into their performances blew me away. I didn't feel like this was someone just reading a story-these two WERE Connor and Violet. I loved listening to them together and will listen again for sure.
This book has it all. Heart, heat, humor and a happy ever after. It left me with a huge smile on my face. If I could rate it more than five stars I would. I cannot recommend this book enough!!
