This is my last chance to ditch my playboy reputation and finally fulfill my potential. So I’ve made three rules for our biggest season yet: no boozing, no women, and no scandals.
Especially that last thing.
So who do I befriend on the very first day back at the rink? An amazing female hockey player. I want Sylvie in a way that’s more than just friendly. I crave her. But I have a championship to win, and so does she.
Then she gets her heart broken by my teammate, and I make the foolish mistake of comforting her in the best way I know how. Our night together sets off a string of sins.
Nobody can know about our affair, especially my overprotective teammate. I can’t let anyone see into my greedy little heart. Not even her.
The things I want from her, and the things we’ve already done? If anyone knew, there’d be bombshells.
I adore Anton. Like seriously adore. His growth in this book is great-and totally believable. He had me swooning right away. He stole my heart and I was cheering him on the whole way in this book.
Now, Sylvie? I liked her a lot! There were moments I wanted to shake her-BUT those moments were completely perfect for her character. I know why she acted the way she did. She is smart and caring. I would love to be friends with her!
I enjoyed watching these two figure each other out. Their journey wasn't simple. They each had their own obstacles that they brought to the table but it was so satisfying to see them come together and figure things out.
The writing here is so smart and sharp. I enjoyed seeing familiar faces and meeting new ones. I could live in this world and be quite happy; maybe Heidi Jo will need her own assistant someday :)
If you're a fan of hockey romances, heck, if you're a fan of romance and unsure if you like hockey, check this out! I know you won't be disappointed. Bombshells was one of my most anticipated reads of the year and it was fabulous! I highly recommend this book!!
Sophie and Anton start with a shared love of hockey, and this gives them a foundation for more of a relationship to develop, even though he had literally just decided to stay away from all vices (women included) after narrowly escaping being released from the team due to past bad behavior.
I loved the way this book blended the realities of being a woman in a largely male world with the fact that not every moment of every day needs to be focused on that, if that makes sense...that it's possible to be upset about how you are treated, but still love the game and fall in love with a male hockey player.
As I have come to expect with this series, and with this author, this title was a lot of fun and I enjoyed and recommend it. If you haven't read the other books in the series, you can definitely still enjoy this one...although, you really should go read those other titles too, you'll be glad you did.
