Washed Up Royal by Kim Karr-Release Blitz

Blurb

From New York Times bestselling author Kim Karr comes a dashing new, sexy standalone royal romance.

A simple notification turns my world upside down...

The tabloids are reporting,

I’ve taken the crown and run. (Not entirely true)

As you might have guessed,

I’m not an ordinary girl and I don’t lead an ordinary life,

But that doesn’t mean I always follow the rules.

This time, though, I feel compelled to obey.

Which means I have to find a king,

To sit alongside my throne,

Or lose it all.

With only the clothes on my back,

I head to the land of majestic playboys,

Where a royal rebel strides right into my life.

With his sultry eyes and sinful lips,

He turns my world right-side up.

The press is calling him washed up. (I think he’s anything but)

Gorgeous, sexy, irresistible,

And utterly charming,

He’s exactly what I’m looking for.

Everything is almost too perfect,

Too easy.

Until I discover,

This hot-blooded royal has a reason for being here.

And it’s more than just me.

That thing I said about easy,

Turns out…

Nothing ever is.

My royal rebel has a name,

It’s Prince Adrien Laurent.

My name is Princess Victoria Blanchette.

And this is our story.

Kim Karr created her own world for these characters, and in some ways it worked, but in other ways,I found it distracting. It was if I not only had to learn about Tori and Adrien, but also their pasts and the succession laws of their respective countries. Toss in the idea that there is something nefarious, possibly, trying to stop Tori and Adrien from finding happiness and, well, I was a little lost at the beginning. By the end, I actually enjoyed it and found the story to be rather cute, and lighthearted, with a great chemistry between the characters.

I thought the snippets that were from the royal gossip magazine were a little too much as well. I see why they were used, and I see the logic in them...but I think if the story were a little less complicated at the beginning, it would not have required quite so much in the way of exposition to keep all of us caught up on the happenings in the Vespa Isles.

While I did enjoy this title overall, there were definitely some areas that I wanted to be a little different.

I'm a sucker for Royal books. I love everything about the idea of them-traditions, Queens, Kings, Princes and Princesses. When I saw that Kim Karr was writing a series about royals I jumped at the chance to read it. Overall, I enjoyed it.

This book wasn't exactly what I expected at first. I was a bit confused in the beginning because of how the story began, but once I got into it things cleared up for me. I liked Tori and Adrien. I really, truly did. I thought they had good chemistry and I rooted for them as a couple. Their journey wasn't smooth sailing by any means, but their struggles were totally worth it.

I liked the idea of this book very much. The writing was good, but I was sometimes pulled out of the story with all the tabloid commentary. That may be just me though and others may absolutely love that little outside perspective. Once I got into this book it was a fun little read. Overall, I liked it and would recommend it.
