THE HATING GAME BY SALLY THORNE-REVIEW

Nemesis (n.)
1) An opponent or rival whom a person cannot best or overcome;
2) A person’s undoing;
3) Joshua Templeman.

Lucy Hutton and Joshua Templeman hate each other. Not dislike. Not begrudgingly tolerate. Hate. And they have no problem displaying their feelings through a series of ritualistic passive aggressive maneuvers as they sit across from each other, executive assistants to co-CEOs of a publishing company. Lucy can’t understand Joshua’s joyless, uptight, meticulous approach to his job. Joshua is clearly baffled by Lucy’s overly bright clothes, quirkiness, and Pollyanna attitude.

Now up for the same promotion, their battle of wills has come to a head and Lucy refuses to back down when their latest game could cost her her dream job…But the tension between Lucy and Joshua has also reached its boiling point, and Lucy is discovering that maybe she doesn’t hate Joshua. And maybe, he doesn’t hate her either. Or maybe this is just another game.

I don't know how I missed this book when it debuted last year but I am SO glad I found it. This book had me laughing and had me sighing throughout-I just loved it.

It's hard to believe that this is Sally Thorne's debut book. The plot is so fresh and unique. I was cracking up at the constant one upmanship happening between Lucy and Josh; waiting impatiently for the two of them to stop being so stubborn and to open their eyes to one another. The pacing of this story was perfect to me.

Lucy and Josh-I don't even know where to begin with them. I wanted to be Lucy (or at the very least be her friend) and I fell so hard for Josh. He seems like such a jerk in the beginning but you just KNOW there's so much more to him. Once his sweet side shows itself I was just hooked on him. He ranks right up there with my top book boyfriends for sure. Seriously, you'll love them as a couple-go read them now!!

I highly recommend this book and I can't wait to see what Sally Thorne gives us next!
