LIKE A BOSS BY SYLVIA PIERCE AND LILI VALENTE-RELEASE BLITZ

Blurb:

I’m one puff piece away from tearing up my journalism degree and hurling my laptop into the Hudson River. So when I smell a juicy story brewing at my brother’s Wall Street investment firm, I’ll do whatever it takes to get my scoop.

One clever disguise later, I’m deep undercover as the firm’s newest broker, simultaneously gathering intel and spouting off stock tips like a boss.

Go me, right?

Sure, it sounds good on paper, but there’s a catch: The actual boss.

Chief Executive Panty-melter Jack Holt is cocky. Infuriating. And one smoldering look has me ready to violate every rule in the employee handbook.

Thank God my assignment has an expiration date. Because falling for my brother’s best friend and business partner is a lose-lose proposition. Right?

***

In the market for a hot tip? Here’s one.

Don’t bang your best friend’s little sister. Especially when she’s an investigative journalist and your company is the target of her latest exposĂ©.

Unfortunately I’ve got a hard-on for high-risk bets, and I’m more than eager to invest my considerable stock holdings in Ellie Seyfried’s… ahem… glorious assets.

Friends with fringe benefits is a sweet deal, but it’s not long before I’m falling harder than the post-bubble Nasdaq, hooked on Ellie’s sweet smile and determination to make the world a better place.

There’s only one problem…

When it comes to risking my money, I’ve mastered every trick in the book. But how the hell do I risk my heart?

Best friend's sister stories are always a favorite of mine. Add in to this that it's set in an work environment and I was all in. I've read Lili Valente before but this was my first book with Sylvia Pierce. It won't be my last! This romcom was hot and fun, while still touching on some serious issues.

I liked Ellie. She's smart and really driven and I can appreciate that. She's willing to do what it takes to get the job done! I love that her strength and determination. I think we all have an Ellie in our lives-or I hope we do-the one that's willing to do what it takes to get the job done.

Jack was mostly fun too. There were a couple things that had me shaking my head with him, but overall I liked him. I enjoyed the fact that he had a crush on Ellie too and seeing him handle that.

There is definitely lots of good banter and a strong connection between these two characters. Honestly, that's part of what draws me in to the friends to lovers trope, as well as the best friend's little sister aspect. These characters know things about each other already and I love seeing how their feelings play out.

I'm always leery when authors collaborate-I never know quite how well the story will mesh. I shouldn't have worried here, as it flowed very well. The plot was fun and unique. I enjoyed this story and look forward to more from these authors. I recommend this title.

I enjoyed this title, a lot. Lili Valente is an author who is fairly new to me, and I have really only read her in co-written titles, but I have enjoyed them. Sylvia Pierce is a new author to me, and I enjoyed her writing as well. Now, do I have any idea who wrote what part of the story? Nope, not a clue. But, it was seamless and there were no obvious break points in the writing styles. The book flowed well, and it was enjoyable.

I loved the premise, the idea that Ellie is undercover in the company founded by her brother Ian and Jack...Ian's best friend, and totally off limits. The issue? She is interested in him, and it is mutual. Jack moves meetings from rooms with beds, flirts with her at work, and generally makes it difficult to ignore the attraction.

So, of course, the attraction is the only thing they can think about while in the same room...and, the fact that Ellie is in drag while writing an expose on how women are treated at work in finance jobs, and they have the makings of a funny story, a battle of the sexes, and a look at the office politics when it comes to policies for men and women in the workplace.

The romance was interesting, and the build up of the relationship with Jack and Ellie was interesting, and I enjoyed not only their conversations but their growing attraction. I thought it was well written and the actions of the characters were believable.

I enjoyed this title and I look forward to the next one by the authors.

Lili Valente

Lili Valente has slept under the stars in Greece, eaten dinner at midnight with French men who couldn’t be trusted to keep their mouths on their food, and walked alone through Munich’s red light district after dark and lived to tell the tale.

These days you can find her writing in a tent beside the sea, drinking coconut water and thinking delightfully dirty thoughts.
