Carly Phillips

Tempt Me

Bachelor Bad Boys Book 2

Release Date January 16, 2018

The single dad & the nanny ... Burned by an ex with a wandering eye, Austin Rhodes has sworn off women. His sole focus is his young daughter - and despite his good intentions, the little girl's live-in nanny. He hired Mia Atwood to care for his child but he finds himself lusting after her instead. Keeping his distance isn’t easy but he’s determined to be a gentleman. Until Mia's past comes back to haunt her and she’s in need of Austin’s brand of protection. Suddenly she’s his in every sense of the word — and he’ll do whatever it takes to shield the woman who tempts him beyond reason.

Ok, I can't lie. Single dad stories are addictive to me. I absolutely love them. As soon as I saw this blurb I had to read this book. As always with this author, it was a hot, steamy and sweet read.

I really liked Mia. She's sweet and caring, an ideal nanny. I loved her positive outlook, especially given that she didn't have the best past. There was just something about her that clicked for me and I was rooting for her throughout.

Austin? Sexy single dad. Again, the whole single dad trope is definitely one of my weaknesses and I loved Austin. He's hot, tattooed, a bodyguard and has an adorable little girl. I loved seeing him fall-especially after not wanting anything to do with a relationship.

I love the forbidden element here-he doesn't want to fall for the nanny, she doesn't want to fall for the boss. Plus there's a child to consider. However, there is just no denying the chemistry between these two. It just snaps and crackles. The sexy times were sexy and hot, just as they always are with this author.

I will say that I feel like the push and pull between them got to be a bit much sometimes. I just wanted them to figure it out. There was a bit more angst than I was expecting too, but it worked for the plot. I liked the secondary characters and look forward to seeing them in future books.

The was a well written book that I enjoyed overall. It was a fast, sexy and sweet read. I do recommend this title and look forward to the author's next work.

I enjoy the single dad/nanny trope. I think I like the appeal of a man who is willing to be the main caretaker of a child also being the kind of guy who is fully in touch with his feelings, or at least a little more than some men in the "real world" and, heck, this is the reason I read romance.

Austin and Mia were wonderful together and their chemistry was strong and believable. I loved that Austin allowed Mia's relationship with his daughter without feeling threatened that they were close and were building a bond. I also liked that he supported her staying in their lives, even after a couple of things happened that showed there might be someone trying to hurt her (not a spoiler, it's in the blurb).

That said, while I enjoyed this, it felt a little formulaic. I enjoyed the characters, the dialogue, the settings...but at the same time, nothing felt particularly new or different to me. I really felt that I had read this title before. Possibly not as well written, as Carly Phillips is an excellent writer, but this was not the fresh look at the trope that I was hoping for

I do, however, recommend this title. While not perfect, it was enjoyable.
