This book is book 7 in a series but can be read as a standalone. I'm a fan of this series and have been eagerly awaiting Storm's story and this didn't disappoint. This is a friends to lovers, slow burn story with a healthy dose of suspense and intrigue mixed in.
I felt for Everly right away. I thought the author did a wonderful job showcasing this strong single mother. She's dealt a tough hand and it's a struggle to deal with everything on her plate, but she does it. I cheered her on as she navigated her path, even though there were a few moments I wanted to shake her.
Storm-broody, secretive Storm. I wanted to cuddle him, to learn his secrets and tell him everything was going to work out. I've been intrigued by him since I've read the other books in this series and I liked getting to finally know more about him.
These two were a bit hot and cold with each other as they tried to fight their attraction. I liked that, actually. I liked the resistance because it just made it all the sweeter when they finally did act on that attraction. This book isn't short on sexy times between these two characters; this author always brings some good steam to her books.
There was definitely more suspense and some twists and turns I didn't exactly anticipate in this book. I was definitely invested and pulled in from the very beginning. I thought the plotting and pacing were on point and I believed in how the story line played out. I'm a fan of the series and this book specifically. I would recommend this book.
